go with this... if you have a budget dun even bother going for exterior mods...
it's not worth it...

charsu 08-17-2009 03:49 AM

proper drop(ie coilovers, springs/shocks replacement)
dope wheels(bbs, volks, works, spinners with flashing leds)
sexy sticky icky tires
HFC + catback exhaust of your choice
if theres enough funds left, some minor exterior mod(ie front lip, spoiler, tofu shop stickers)

up to you mang! what are your goals?

Worst part is....dope wheels and sexy sticky icky tires can set you back 5K right from the start....they did me. :shakes head:

jerkey 08-17-2009 08:50 AM

Thanks guys for the Help, ill be home in December, i will keep everyone posted on what i decide to do.

shabarivas 08-17-2009 11:01 AM

Save up for FI - or go all suspension brake first

Solus 08-17-2009 11:42 AM

Jerkey I have to ask with you being military in NC and coming back in december are you with 2d mlg?

Nah, Man im with 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines.

Solus 08-18-2009 08:29 AM

fair enough you are coming back around the same time i was supposed to lol.. i just got tossed out of the country is all

rreign 08-18-2009 08:50 AM

I fully agree with cjanik or even with RCZ. Those 2 all around are going to get you the biggest bang for your buck right now. Personally, IMHO... I would save a little more and go with some kind of forced induction.

shabarivas 08-18-2009 10:38 AM

so you mean you agree w/ me :P

Ryan@Forged 08-18-2009 10:41 AM

Do you want looks or performance? Let me know and I can try and put something together for you :) You're close to us too!

haha, I agree with RCZ and cjanik's set-up for that price range. But I agree with you to save and go FI. Did that make sense?!

Reality 08-18-2009 11:07 AM

LoL! those that mentioned FI... $5k is a long way from $20k+ for FI..

OP,
what are your goals? Performance or Show?
If you have are unsure, I would recommend considering working from the ground up.

GL:tup:

rreign 08-18-2009 11:12 AM

20K?!?! where are you getting your figures from?

theDreamer 08-18-2009 11:14 AM

I think FI and FI are getting confused.
FI can mean FI exhaust or Forced Induction.

rreign 08-18-2009 11:15 AM

I'll clarify... Forced Induction. LOL, either way though. Neither one is gonna cost 20K

fuct 08-18-2009 11:19 AM

10k for the kit, plus bs is close to $14000. now add in "just in case" extras and your closing in on 20k.

rreign 08-18-2009 11:37 AM

Well for those of us that have the means and know what we're doing....

THIS + DIY = right around 9k (+ or - a little)

How do you figure? Even if you only calculate the parts alone you have to take into consideration the following:

(estimated prices for simplicity sake, keep in mind different brands have different prices)

$8500 Turbo Kit
$1000-1500 3" exhaust
$300-500 TP/HFC
$2000 Clutch/Flywheel (twin or triple plate)
$550 Boost Controller
$4000 Engine Management/Tuning (Fcon)

Total comes out to $16350 on the conservative side with no labor. All the listed stuff needs to be done plus a few more add ons to support a TT build. Just FYI

LoL! I have been around for a little bit, and have seen how things work out....
I look forward to your $9k FI thread.:tiphat:

rreign 08-18-2009 03:51 PM

Well, I gues we'll find out if it can be done. See I have a lot of things at my disposal so I know the I as in me personally could do this all with just buying the kit. I'm just saying for arguments sake that it CAN be done.

part of my 20k total is for parts that might break. im no novice around a set of tools either, but you wont see me f'in around adding boost to a $40k machine

and if i broke something big........ $$$$$$

rreign 08-18-2009 03:59 PM

I can understand all the "what ifs" and I can understand the concerns w/ FI but I'm just saying that with the right resources that it can be done w/ just the purchase of a kit from a company.

I too have a lot of things at my disposal. :) I can assure you it can not be done DIY for 9K with all the supporting mods you will need.

jerkey 08-19-2009 06:50 AM

Im planning on staying away from FI for the time being, at least until the warranty is up. Im looking at Fast Intentions exhaust w/ HFC's right now. Also the Stillen Ultra Long Tube CAI. Any objections to this at all? Or would this sound decent? Hey Ryan i will prolly have some work for you when i get home. Get ready!

A good friend owns his own shop, with all the trimmings.. hoist, dyno, machine shop..etc. He completed the install and tune himself, and it still cost almost double your expected budget..

So gl with that..

Well, I'm definitely not going to argue with someone that owns/works at a major company like Forged Performance. I'm also one to admit when I may be wrong or am wrong. I'll believe you if you say it can't be done. I still think that depending upon what you want your applications for, it may be worth it.

Can't wait ;) I LOVE dealing with these cars. Let me know if there is anything else you need!

Don't get me wrong, if you are a capable mechanic you can do the install yourself, although I do not recommend it. However, with the list price of this kit being about 9K, you are not taking into consideration the other parts that you really do need for this built. Even though GTM labels the car as a turnkey kit, there are several parts they do not include that are needed to run this kit when you are coming from a stock 370z. The main part that stands out to me is the twin plate clutch you will need to buy that usually will run you 2K. The stock clutch is not capable of holding up to the power levels of a TT setup. Ontop of that there are several additional parts that are needed to run this setup. Just in the cost of parts alone it gets very expensive. With that said, it can be done for less than 20k. If you are a DIY I would say you can get it done for well below 20k. Let me know if you have any questions, I am always happy to help :)

rreign 08-19-2009 09:50 AM

Well, I have the ability to do everything myself. That being said, I'll be a man, admit that I was wrong and say with a guess that I could probably do it for around 12k. Which is still a far cry from 20k

2theextreme 08-19-2009 09:59 AM

See that list of blue items in my sig? Plus labor.....I've cracked 13K already.....heading into the unknown world of 14K in due time! :roflpuke2:

Yes, I'm sick in the head....I already know this! :icon08: Wheels & tires account for a great majority of this but I love 'em!

:p

rreign 08-19-2009 10:05 AM

Yeah, but half of that is un-needed for a tt build

2theextreme 08-19-2009 10:14 AM

Yes, true.....I just cant believe I spent all that....and I coulda had twin turbo by now thru Altered....for about 4K less! :shakes head: Live and learn...live and learn!

Hey man, it's not about being wrong or right. I just want everyone to know what they are getting themselves into should they choose to go TT. :) In either case it is not a cheap way to go, but it sure is fun :)

I know man, but too many guys would have just sat here and tried to argue with you or they would have just hung their head in shame and not replied at all. That's not me.

Anyway back on track here....
