Do shops usually frown upon bringing in my own parts? I don't mind paying a bit more and supporting local shops but they just don't seem to carry the stuff

Do shops usually frown upon bringing in my own parts? I don't mind paying a bit more and supporting local shops but they just don't seem to carry the stuff I need.
