email me those pictures directly to alex@arkperformanceusa.com so I can guide you with the install.
I don't know how the Xpipe can be warped. Alex |
didnt get a pm?
|
The install went flawlessly other than this, took a whole of 35 minutes from start to finish. I really don't mean to make this a larger issue than it is, sorry I got my feathers ruffled a bit with your response.
I misspoke, its the pipe that connects to the x pipe between the muffler and the x pipe, the flange where it meets the X pipe WAS warped. I took a large grinder to it and took off maybe half a mm of material off mostly the ears and it seals perfectly now. Like I said before, the leak was very small and didn't even cause any noise just some minor flow was felt from it while leak checking the system over. But the small leak has now been corrected without spending any money or really any hassle at all, I just wanted to note it as it really was my only concern with the exhaust system as a whole. Please don't get me wrong, I am a VERY satisfied customer, anyone that has heard the exhaust has said thats how it should sound from the factory. Edit: I will send the pictures out once I get home and able to upload them. |
Great. I just wanted you and any other customer to not have any surprises when ordering our 370z units. If you need anything else please do not hesitate to ask

got my exhaust today!! will be doing a full review this weekend ( when i get it installed )
|
so it begins..
|
Installed the GRIP type 2 exhaust on my Z tonight, exhaust looks great, sounds great.
One problem the exhaust seems to be hitting the cross member on the passenger side, just like the guy in the previous pages. I was worried about the gap between the x-pipe and the cross member when I put it together, but it didn't come to close, after about a 40 minute drive, it rubs under decel and idiling. I suppose I need to get back underneath and try to use a jack raise the x pipe. I will let you guys know how it goes. Joe |
You have to raise the midpipe and then bolt it up. It will hold just fine. When adjusting, you can push it all the way to the top so that there is room for play when you tighten it.

Man what a shame. UNLESS I MISSED IT IN HERE SOMEWHERE, 14 months of selling this thing and not one dyno with gains that I can see. Several people have asked, but no one from ARK has followed through. If you are going to produce/sell, this is a must. I don't understand why this hasn't been done BY ARK?? Again, if I missed it, I apologize. But I didn't see it. :ugh2:

there should be a few dyno reports surfacing within the next week or so. A couple of forum members have claimed that they'll be doing a personal test on this exhaust. Whatever we can source, we'll be sure to post.
|
I should have a video up this weekend, not sure about dunno though.

Update:
As a quick fix the next morning after my post I spaced the cross member down about 5mm to stop the rattle. Since then I have been driving with non resonated test pipes and the exhaust, and WOW, on acceleration it is very aggressive, ie pretty loud! Too loud for my taste for a daily driver, even a weekend car. One thing that impressed me though is the muffler itself. When you accelerate it screams, but when cruising, over 2500 rpm it is nice and quiet, near stock quiet. Below 2500 rpm while cruising it drones just barely. Keep in mind that the test pipes were the main contributing factor to the volume. I finally had time yesterday to install the cats and adjust the exhaust to clear the crossmember correctly. On a stock Nismo, only mod being the exhaust, the volume now is near stock. I didn't dyno because I got too excited. Once I had the box, I was doing the install. Joe Quote:

I'm installing mine friday. So the only thing I need to make sure of is press up on the x pipe section before tightening so that it doesn't rub against the cross member?
|
Right, work from the front back. Jack up the x pipe section nice and high, bolt it all up then release the floor jack. Should be good to go.
One thing I would prefer on this exhaust is 14mm head bolts instead of the ones supplied. Quote:

Bump!!!

Bump!

Type II = Want!!!

We still have plenty in stock :). The Sema promotional rates are still valid.
|
The exhaust is awsome, I'm having camera issues so no video yet. Mine does not rattle against the crossmember because I jacked it up and then tightened it when I did the install.
