Any idea when the headers will be ready for sale?

DarkJak 07-01-2013 10:01 AM

That looks so sexy. I am aroused.

Dwnshift 07-01-2013 02:33 PM

There was a slight delay and change of plan.
I'm guessing that the prototype will be tested by the end of the month and results posted.
Testing with be done on a completely stock 2009 Nismo.
Depending on how the testing goes... We could make a change or two on the design...or if it's good...We could take preorders and begin slinging them out.
The initial goal was to start production before August ..but trying to be realistic I'm gonna say late August early Sept. I would rather say later and have it be earlier.

Dwnshift 07-01-2013 02:34 PM

And then there is that manifold thing.
;)

diddy535 07-01-2013 02:38 PM

Dwnshift 07-01-2013 10:27 PM

Long or shorties... Yes
"Lorties"

Wonka2581 07-01-2013 10:49 PM

takjak2 07-02-2013 08:37 AM

Dwnshift 07-02-2013 02:31 PM

Under $10000 more than $1
;)
For what they will be ...or the game plan is for them to be...they will be compatible prices on the market.

Rusty 07-03-2013 08:08 PM

im trying my luck but he might also need a 370z to test with the HR swapped heads ?

the big cams/piston setup that I wanted is ready, so in a couple months this should be a reality !

Rusty 07-03-2013 08:24 PM

I'm only a couple of hours from him. :D So if he needs a car, I'm ready. LOL

Dwnshift 07-03-2013 10:16 PM

Just picked up the test mule today and drove her home. 2009 Nismo #117 begins a new life ;)

Dwnshift 07-05-2013 01:13 PM

The recall has been performed.
All is good.

Yutnaka 07-10-2013 06:41 PM

Any updates?

Dwnshift 07-10-2013 07:49 PM

Car goes on the dyno Friday at 10am to be baselined. (Completley stock 2009 Nismo)
It then goes under the welder Friday evening.
Not sure how long the first set and tooling will take...expecting at least a week.
It then goes back on the dyno and results posted.

shivers 07-10-2013 08:08 PM

Looking forward to see what you guys come up with.

BJH_F1 07-10-2013 09:01 PM

Can't wait to see how these turn out! I've been lurking for a while now and I must say, it feels like quite a privilege to have a top notch race team produce such quality parts for our cars (well in my case a 07 350z HR).

I just had a few questions if you don't mind answering, dwnshift. Mainly I ask these questions so I can optimize the rest of my exhaust system if do happen to buy these. The only real deterrent for me being the visual portion for smog here in California blah....shorty type headers are a bit easier to sneak by with due to the factory catalytic converter placement.

1. What will the collector diameter be? 2.25" or 2.5" & any reducer after the collector?
2. How many steps on the primaries tubes and what are their range of diameters?
3. Just to clarify - When you referred to these as being "lorties", I assume this means that they will be mid-length headers so to speak. A few inches longer than the factory headers?
4. Finally, any idea how these might work/fit on a VQ35HR, specifically in a 350z? I'd imagine you can't comment on this much as of yet though ;)

Anyway, thanks so much for your time and I'll be keeping a close eye on this thread.

Dwnshift 07-11-2013 04:53 AM

Let us get them built and tested... Then we can discuss
:)

Baseline pulls 2009 Nismo stock
(it does have 325 rear tires on it though)

DEpointfive0 07-12-2013 09:33 PM

Not bad

Dwnshift 07-19-2013 05:02 AM

I miss my Z.
Patiently waiting....

BJ has a Nismo (I think '09). It's the test car for the Doran headers that are being developed. Guessing it's in the shop for the development at the moment.

Kind of jealous.

Dwnshift 07-20-2013 01:50 PM

Yes it's under the welder.
Dropped it off for the fabrication and tooling of the headers and new style test pipes.
Once it is finished it goes back to the dyno for testing... But in theory ..they should all work really well.
I'm excited but like my ole buddy Tom says: "the waaaaaaa aaaait ing is the haaaaaaaaar dest part"

Dwnshift 07-23-2013 12:08 PM

Just a quick update to keep things alive.
Most likely picking up my car this weekend.
The headers are not completed yet are awaiting more material /bends.
Once the car gets back... Most likely will have some new test pipes to try out... Which are also unlike anything on the market.
I hope to go to the dyno and try out some other parts new prototype development parts as well.
Stay tuned.

DarkJak 07-23-2013 12:16 PM

These new style test pipes have me intrigued.

DarkJak 07-23-2013 06:28 PM

let me guess....

if I say test pipe style megaphone that need to be installed with your header, am I close ?

I had a project of doing something like this with a modified momentum shorty header. still not sure about the reverse part...
