anyone's exhaust spit flames?
 

i think i've seen one guy with an m370 have that happen but other than that never seen it on a z. if your does, what system are u running?

Hoping mine will :P My exhaust will be wrapped from the header flange @ the engine all the way to the tip, so heat should be staying in the gasses all the way out.

If you wrap it all the way out with a turbo, you will definitely spit flame on up and down shifts. There's no doubt about it. (Assuming you don't have cats)

someone hook up a gopro to mine. when i downshift at lights people back up and stay back sooooo maybe? i do hear plenty of gurgles and backfire when i'm driving so its possible?

I'm pretty sure my a$$ was spitting fire after some Mexican food last week. Guess I'll have to get a GoPro and hook it up back there.

I was told that my G37 with our TP's and CF non-res CBE would spit some flames from time to time.. So I am thinking the Z will forsure..

nice. honestly i have downshifted at red lights and had people reverse or stay way back from my car soo i'm guessing theres a chance i may have.

Just shovel load of fireflies into your stock exhaust system. Start your car and floor it. Sh!t load of "flames" will spit out. It's recommended to do it at night.

...You may have awful smell of gas because of the test pipes.:icon17:

that is an amazing smell. i grew up at the drag strip so thats like home for me.

The sheer volume of your setup probably scared them off ;)

That smell has carbon monoxide which occupies the hemoglobin in your red blood cells that are suppose to carry oxygen. Red blood carries carbon monoxide that won't deliver oxygen to tissues in your body (including your brain) and neurons are damaged. Once those are gone there no replacing them. Be careful bud :tup:

But yes going back to spitting fire, very nice. I think I saw a video of a guy that had the motordyne cbe and it was spitting fire when he was shifting, not too sure though. Looks badass...

mine does...have had many people (when involved in caravans) witness it....i just wish i could make it do so on command!!

i either have no one to roll with or i end up keep everyone in line at the rear of the pack sooo idk if mine does for sure.

I'll occasionally spit out flames. Lotta backfire n gunshot sounds for sure. Gotta get someone to record it.

The flame was likely due to the lack of a tune at the time.

damn... so this only happens in a lean condition.... that kinda sucks

lean wouldnt make sense. rich with excess fuel to burn makes sense.

I think edub370 was right. Running lean will cause engine running hot and detonation thus might shot flame. Running rich will only left a lot of un-burnt fuel which is a mess.

if you weren't tuned and your car had tons of breathing mods you were running lean. tuning will generally add more fuel into the mix to bring u back to stoich.

I don't think this is necessarily true because the car seems to come from Nissan already running incredibly rich (probably to account for the higher compression as well as idiots who use regular gas with lower octane). Even with my R2C intakes, my tuner said I was running outrageously rich.

Hmmm, that sux. That's why our gas milage is only 17-21??:shakes head: But anyways, in general if you add more breathe mods like CAI you will run leaner compare to the stock. And running lean is always more danger than running rich.

I heard that if a N/A car is tuned properly it wont shoot flames... Anyone else here of this? My buddies 6spd TL use to shoot flames, he had every possible bolt-on mod for the car, no-cats but no tune at all.


Oh and what is the GoPro mounted to? Thinking about making a vid like this tonight.
