Beluga CBE with CNT Resonated Test Pipes
So I found this exhaust through Shadezz:tiphat: a fellow forum member. Now keep in mind that this is not a Fast Intentions top of the line type of exhaust. This exhaust was purchased for track use on my Z. :excited: We installed it Friday night fired her up with no exhaust leaks. The following day I ran the car and noticed it hitting in some places. :shakes head: I would have to jack the car up another 4 times to get it just right. I believe this could of been avoided if I had an experianced mechanic install it. I am still having chatters on the crossmember hitting the exhaust every once in awhile. I plan to solve this issue next Friday. So here's a clip of the Z stock exhaust with Resonated CNT TP's and deleted rear resonators.
Now here's a couple of the Z with CNT TP's and the Beluga CBE. Notice the hiss coming from the exhaust? This only comes about at high RPM's. I have done 3 leak checks with no luck of finding anything! I believe the hiss might be from the high flow due to the TP's. Any input would be appreciated! |
After watching the videos...I think it does have to do with your test pipes.....I don't have them and planned on not doing them cause of the sound. I hear the hiss only under 2k rpm on yours...almost like a little blow off sound.
Can you post pics of yours connected to the test pipes? |
Yeah I'll post them up in a bit.

So I do think that the TP's have something to do with it....I would like some others to chime in about exhaust with Test pipes sounds...
Here is my video for those wondering without TP... |
The hiss is pretty unavoidable...........unless you take great steps to mitigate it. A free-er flowing exhaust nets the hiss. I bothered me for a while, but I concentrate on the awesome gurgle that my exhaust makes on deceleration instead of the hiss, lol.

Yeah I have the same test pipes and mine hiss too, especially when I let off the gas and the car starts to slow down. But when upshifting it's like a little blow off valve :p

I'm hoping to get some in car vids up later today. I wonder how it will sound with the MHI kit installed?

I only have experience with CNT resonated pipes, but I've heard other brands give you a hiss as well. It isn't a "leak" sounding hiss but really like a muffled BOV. When your windows are down it sounds amazing because it's right outside your window so the sound bounces off others cars around you and stuff.
But to try and answer your original question, no it's not just CNT pipes that hiss |
Does anyone have an idea on what I can do about the cross member hitting?
|
Does it rattle?
