2010 Nismo Akuma Intake Installed

I installed my first mod on my 2010 Nismo 370z - Akuma Intake. The install was pretty straight forward and after updating the K Fuel Multiplier and reflashing the ECU the car started up with no issues or DTC's =).

http://www.the370z.com/members/okczg...-installed.jpg

I did 3 stock baseline dyno pulls and 3 after the Akuma Intake.
Best stock baseline 280hp/237tq CF:SAE Smoothing 5 *
Best Akuma Intake 296hp/245tq CF:SAE Smoothing 5

*The AFR sensor wiggled out on the stock baseline pull 3 that why the AFR is showing strange in the graph.

CG's! Impressive gain. You able to overlay them?

okczguy 02-11-2013 10:58 AM

Cant from the office but once I get home I will make a new chart with both runs overlaid.

7speed 02-12-2013 11:27 AM

Looks good. Did you dyno with bumper off or on?

SS_Firehawk 02-12-2013 12:32 PM

Thanks for the overlay. Looks like you are a tad rich for NA, leaves room for more bolt on's :)

okczguy 02-12-2013 12:41 PM

7Speed - All Dyno's where done with the Bumper on

SS_Firehawk - yea she alittle rich right now and I plan on installing the M370 manifold this weekend. Next will be Art pipes and AAM Competition S-LINE Midpipe then tune =)

SS_Firehawk 02-12-2013 12:46 PM

tried to rep you but work proxy said no. M370 should be pretty easy, 60 min tops. Car takes on a nice growl.

Jbwrecked 02-12-2013 12:47 PM

Sweet gains!

NissanGuy23 02-12-2013 05:17 PM

These look good - possible better than the Takeda's?

Zrider79 02-17-2013 06:56 PM

Would be nice to see the combination of these intakes with the m370, should be interesting to see results.

okczguy 02-19-2013 08:48 AM

I installed the M370 last Saturday and plan on dynoing again before I install the Art Pipes.

Nice gains man! How was the M370 install? Im going to do mine soon, i have just been lazy. After doing a header install I dont want to even think about working on my car again for at least a few weeks

okczguy 02-19-2013 09:32 AM

The M370 install was pretty easy the only thing I would suggest is that when you move the throttle bodies onto the M370 that you also install the metal throttle bodies’ coolant lines on the manifold.

Installing the coolant lines made it much easier to install the M370 manifold with out having to fight with the coolant lines to get them to line up properly.

Zrider79 02-21-2013 02:37 AM

Cool cant wait to see what it will do. How does it sound now ?

370ZNISMO#704 02-21-2013 02:44 AM

That's my next mod then a tune in for your dyno results.

NissanGuy23 02-21-2013 06:20 PM

Any cutting required?

nope

okczguy 02-22-2013 08:47 AM

NissanGuy23 - The Akuma intake does require some cutting to fit, same as the Stillen G3.

Zrider79 - The car is louder and has a nice growl with the M370 and Akuma.

Oh, the main dude (Jon?) at Akuma told me there's no cutting. They put a silicone elbow through the radiator support hole so that it fits without cutting, was my understanding.

Guess that changed.

NissanGuy23 02-22-2013 02:51 PM

Well it looks better than the G3 from what im seeing based on the same gains plus the price being noteably less. Also the K&N shape helps with fitment.

Zrider79 03-08-2013 04:51 PM

any updates on m370 dyno ?

RSZED 03-12-2013 11:32 AM

love to see the gains on this combo subscribed..

Sales@AAMComp 03-12-2013 03:11 PM

can't wait to see the end results with all of your exhaust parts on too :) keep us posted!

okczguy 03-12-2013 04:30 PM

Sorry all I have been busy at work and did not get the Dyno done with just the M370.

I have since installed the Art Pipes and the AAM Competition S-LINE Midpipe. The car sounds so much better with the Art Pipes and AAM S-Line Midpipe =) even with the stock muffler.

I will try and get a dyno done this week and post the results and then start working on my tune.

okczguy 03-13-2013 08:00 PM

Went to the dyno today with the Akuma Intake, M370, Art Pipes and AAM Competition S-LINE Midpipe. Made 286hp/247tq. less than I expected but its still not tuned, I have made some minor changes to the AFR since the Akuma Intake dyno.

Overlay of the Akuma Intake and today's dyno.

I plan on having the car tuned on 3/23/13 and I will post the results after.

SS_Firehawk 03-13-2013 08:10 PM

+ rep for the posting, tuning should help a lot. GL with the tuning session. Post your tuned and untuned results in Motordyne's thread too. There is only a couple of us who have posted both.

Sales@AAMComp 03-13-2013 09:11 PM

Dave, anyway you can get that hp/tq graph zoomed in more (rescaled) I would start it at 120 end at 320 or so that way you can truly see the before/after, or in your case maybe which part of the powerband is suffering. It's not uncommon for a car to "lose" hp after doing so many breathing mods, this is why a tune is critical to really even things back out

Zrider79 03-14-2013 12:30 AM

I hope both hp & tq increase after tune for ya.

RSZED 03-22-2013 04:52 PM

Tune it with UPREV bro.

N0SL3N 04-01-2013 04:37 PM

Any updates on this? Interested in the intake

okczguy 04-02-2013 12:27 PM

Sorry all for the delays, I have not had a chance to get the tune done yet. My tuner was not available on 3/23/13 and I had other things going on last weekend so I hope to get it tuned this Saturday 4/6/13.

I have found a couple of issues that have been fixed since my last dyno
1. PCV leaks
2. Exhaust leaks - scheduled to see the shop today.

Red_Z 04-22-2013 01:23 PM

Hey..OP....how you like the Akuma intake so far? I can't decide between the Akuma or the G3.

ANMVQ 04-23-2013 06:26 PM

Any news on this, An is it just me or did he lose 10WHP after the M370 and TP's?

okczguy 04-25-2013 11:09 AM

Sorry been busy at work and I have not had time to get the car tuned yet. But now that the Exhaust and PCV leaks have been fixed the car is running much better, MPG went from 16-17 to 19-20.

Red_Z - I like the Akuma intake and had no issues with it since I installed it.

I still plan on going to my local tuner when I get some more free time.

The M370 is known to lose top end until the car is tuned for it.
Gains after tune are in the midrange, with the top staying more or less the same as before after everything is done.

KB2 04-25-2013 04:52 PM

correct. the m370 is great if you ask me. its all about useable power, which is ultimately what matters the most.

Glover997 07-31-2014 05:17 AM

So .. Any update on this ?! :)

ANMVQ 08-01-2014 11:27 AM

Yea what happened, looking at the Z1 mani, I but still he lost 10 WHP!
