How are you going to buy Okyno 7.1ch and then skrimp on $20. That thing set you back what ~$400 new, should have got something a touch cheaper and put it towards a welder.

similar to mine, but I have two 12" glasspacks, because its all straight pipes from the headers back.

I disagree mike....yours is completely different lol. Glass packs are legit and yours is straight pipe compared to his just being axle backs. a full set up as such to reduce weight and make noise is a big difference.

Got it =)

luigi90210 01-06-2013 04:14 AM

so is it bad if i were to buy some ebay mufflers and go to an exhaust shop and custom build axle back exhaust?

Kingbaby 01-06-2013 04:25 AM

This is a nominee for most retarded mods for 2013!

Track guy/shade tree mechanic or not this is just re re tard ed

Blatant disregard for delivery!

That's like saying I wanna remove weight for the track so chop the top off?

geddy lee 01-08-2013 12:01 PM

Looks like the exhaust I have on my dryer down in the basement

ResIpsa 01-08-2013 12:43 PM

I am so glad I started this thread. This is hilarious!

I hope you know that my use of cheap bends actually cheapens YOUR 370Z! I know that this haunts you and has prevented you from sleeping since my first post.

You guys are such a bunch of prima donnas!

And Mike, I love the exhaust. What I thought you guys would see is that it is possible to easily develop and install a muffler delete on our cars. The main problem is that you normally need to weld flanges on to the exhaust to connect to the mid pipe section. But I found a way to do it without welding. Check my upcoming DIY. I like creating things on my own. Keep in mind that I developed the first brake cooling duct DIY more than a year before Stillen had its kit.

I can swap out my muffler in less than 20 minutes at the track for some great sound. In hindsight, I guess I should have posted this thread in the track section.

You guys ripping on this dude for kludging something together for the track is pretty funny to me.

It's his car, he can do what he wants. At least he takes it to the track, makes whatever he does to the car in the name of tracking a thousand percent more 'legit' than what most of you inflict upon your cars.

Seriously. I'm as critical as it comes of other people's cars, but this guy doesn't deserve the lambasting he's getting for sharing his winter project with you jerks.

:(

Is it ugly as homemade sin? Yes
Is it something I would do to my car? No
Does it accomplish what the OP set out to do? YES

Nice project. As I said, not something I would do, but it shows a certain amount of good old Yankee ingenuity. Ignore the naysayers and keep experimenting.

:iagree:

I think it's a cool little project to do if you're bored and glad it worked out for OP. Just like with your home made splitter and diffuser, they may not be the prettiest looking parts, but they do what they're supposed to. I'd love to hear a sound clip of it.

I wanted to do custom short tails to use with my Berk CBE, but I'll probably have one made by an exhaust shop if I decide to get one.
