The hissing is going to be there whether you have resonators or not. It's what happens when you take the cats off a VQ, so if you're not a fan of it, this might not have been the best powerplant to go with. :ugh2:

That being said, I have the headers with the 18" Res SS can CBE. I love the way it sounds. The headers affect the pitch ever so slightly without the overall volume. Makes it sound different [better  ] than just having HFC's or TP's. If you're looking for deep/loud, honestly the best deep/loud setup I've heard is the FI CBE with Berk HFC's. It sounds really good to me. :twocents:

Slammed370 03-28-2012 09:27 PM

have you heard FI LTH with FI 12" res CBE??

Chris would there be a significant increase in HP if switching from Rest TP's to headers? OR is it just sound and or smell? Would you recommend it? Just curious.

Thanks,

From listening to multiple videos and a friend that has the 18's if you want some aggressive sound but pretty quiet unless really getting on it the 18's resonated seem good.

'Significant' I dunno, that would depend on what your definition is of 'significant'. In the FI LTH thread seen here: http://www.the370z.com/intake-exhaus...ders-here.html Tony dyno's the LTH's vs HFC's, not TP's.

You will still have the same smell as there are no cats in the way, but you will have a noticable difference in the sound/smoothness of the engine through the RPM band. That was one of my biggest :eeks: moments about it was revving was almost instant redline.

Here's the best video I can give you to show you what you can expect with a LTH setup:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1I_0-hGroo

I'll idle for a bit for a warm start, then rev to 2k, 3k, and then 5k rpms, then a standing start, VDC on. A rolling start and then a start heading toward the cam so you can hear how it sounds coming to the camera, very quiet in front of the car.

Then here's a 5th gear dyno video. Part one in front of tips, part 2 behind tips. Once it gets to part 2, you might wanna turn down the volume a bit as it 'screams' quite literally. The mic on my phone couldn't handle the volume. :icon17: Enjoy. :tiphat: (He cut me short at 6500rpms cause he didn't wanna take the rollers past 140mph.)

Hey Guys, here are a few key points Tony pointed out to me about the resonators when I paid a visit to his shop. Basically, it is much easier & better looking if you go from a non-resonated to 12" to an 18" in that order, as all they or a muffler shop would need to do is cut out the section & weld in the new resonators, no adding pipe making a patch work mess :barf:. He also mentioned that over time, the systems quiet down, this makes sense as the resonators & mufflers will load up over time. So if you are on the fence, I would go shorter & let them break-in before making any rash decisions. But definitely consult with Tony about what you are trying to achieve.

:twocents: YMMV

3 more weeks & it's non-res carbon fiber for me :ughdance:

For those of u with the full system headers and catback. How much lower does everything set compared to the factory exhaust?

the lowest part of the exhaust is the mufflers and they actually sit right at the same height if not a TINY bit higher!

Slammed370 03-29-2012 09:06 PM

I'm just so use to having cars where the headers hang so much lower than factory. And I usually scrape on everything

But also keep in mind that the mufflers also sit quite a bit lower than the stock as they extend back from the axle. This does make a difference. It can be seen easily here in my wheel-level video of the OEM v FI exhuast: Link to my review. Note the visibility of the cans below the level of the rear valence with the FI versus the stock muffler.

I am aware of that on the version 1 exhaust before they raised the cans up a little bit. I am pretty sure now that the system actually doesnt sit any lower than stock!

Mine is the most recent version. Just got made a few weeks ago. I think what doesn't sit lower than stock is the lowest part of the exhaust system, which are the the pipes that go below the axles. The cans, while not the lowest part, still sit much lower than the factory muffler, which is not visible from the side or back of the car really.

Finally got my FI exhaust installed. My goal was for higher volume and better exhaust note; mission accomplished!! My setup includes Stillen SC, ART Test pipes, and FI catback with 12" resonators. My "other" after market catback was considerably lower in noise volume, but the noise was not a good noise...it was just noise!! Now with the FI catback, it is louder, but in a really good way....this thing sings now!!! I find myself just wanting to drive the car now just to hear the exhaust!! With my "other" catback i never had that desire, lol.

I also noticed that the FI catback weighs less than the one i took off, another benefit!!

I have several friends that own 370's with the FI catback and i always thought it sounded great. I was worried mine wouldn't sound the same or as good being that i had a super charger, but now i'm glad i got this exhaust, sounds awesome!

Thanks Tony!

Tony...when you get a chance could you post a new list of where the builds are at ?

Osiris 04-02-2012 08:03 PM

Sh@t!!!! Hit exhaust on speed bump :shakes head: Installed less than a week! Guess that was bound to happen, they are now the lowest hanging items on the car.

Here is exactly how our ordering process works. This is a template that I have created and the only thing that changes is the lead time.

"When you place an order all I require is a $250 deposit. I do not charge the remaining balance until your exhaust is ready to ship. At the time the order is placed I create an actual invoice for you. Then I will email you a PDF copy of that invoice to keep on file. Now all of my exhaust systems are hand built custom right here in house. I do not keep anything in stock. I am very busy and as of right now I am 12-14 weeks out to ship your exhaust once the order is placed! This may possibly be an over estimate, but I would rather under promise & over deliver! Now the lead time does not start until the order is placed and the invoice is created. Once your exhaust is built and ships I will email you your tracking number. I know the lead time might seem like a pain but it goes quick. We take a great deal of pride in what we do! You will receive top notch customer service and quality. I also understand how far you are and how crucial it is to get he right parts the first time. I ensure you that there will be zero packaging mishaps and everything will be as you ordered it. I just hear horror stories about other companies shipping the wrong parts all of the time!

Now I understand that the lead time might really scare you away. Here is what I can promise you. If our system is truly the one you want, the wait is worth it! Please do not force yourself to settle for anything less due to a faster turnaround time.

I think that I have covered everything. If you have any more questions or would like to place an order, please do not hesitate to call me directly..."

Thank you, Tony
