That would be my guess, I'm very glad I won't have any worries about scraping.

No kidding man. I will be extremely happy if he makes a change to it.

Nope, the exhaust is the first mod I have done. Other than the Plastidipping that I did just a few minutes ago!

The mod bug has hit me and my wallet very hard in about the past month! Oh sweet what did you plastidip?!

jpritche 08-10-2011 06:11 AM

right now I am just doing my emblems and my friends emblems until I get better at it, and then I am going to do the fangs and the rear valence both black. So far it looks great! Extremely happy with it.

Pelican170 08-10-2011 07:41 AM

Well, just kinda sucks for the rest of the people who have bought them already....

^^ yeah, it is what it is though...as bad as it sucks, there is nothing they can really do about it.

Apparently at some point Fast Intentions tweaked the design in the CBE to allow more ground clearance. I think..

I've never heard this, as it was never mentioned here by Tony himself. If there ever was a change in the design, he would have said something for the new guys to reassure them. Tony's customer service is more important to him/his company than getting sub-standard parts out.

Has anyone heard this directly From him, or is it just speculation because that's the only somewhat real concern with F.I. Exhausts?

_CEO_ 08-10-2011 06:21 PM

Read the last 3 posts on page 408.

Just to clarify.. I have not heard it from Tony I was just answering your question.

jpritche 08-10-2011 06:44 PM

I also have not heard anything directly from him about it being changed, just going off of what other people have said.

Glokwork 08-10-2011 07:08 PM

Its strange when you post good news about a product improving on its design that some people get bent....its a good thing people. Who the hell wants to scrape those beautiful cans? I came across a thread the other day where a member was trying to decide what exhaust to get and said he was thinking about FI but didnt want to scrape his cans. So I just passed along the info I had just received from Tony, I didn't want that guy to settle for a lesser exhaust because of something that is not an issue. As for why it's never been mentioned on here, I don't know. All I can say is Tony is extremely busy trying to build awesome stuff for us all and I'm sure we would all rather have him in the shop than on the forums.

No one's bent, just saying I would think a change in the design would be something that would have been announced... No worries. :tiphat:

And I still say there was nothing wrong with the old can height. I'm dropped right now and have never scraped them once. I dunno how the guys drive but AZ/Cali/Vegas/Texas roads suck and I've never scraped. So I dunno what they do differently??

Methodical4u 08-10-2011 08:30 PM

I'm just wondering guys.. for those of you who did the F.I. TDX as a first mod did you really feel the extra power? I know that the power is about 20 whp, just wondering about the butt dyno.

I can't really say for just the CBE as I had my headers and CBE installed at the same time, but for my opinion, yes there was a definite gain in power on the butt dyno from that, and the real dyno confirmed a 35hp gain.

did you have the Stillen intake or any intake for that matter installed?

F.I. headers and exhaust both? How loud is your set-up?

No, K&N Drop Ins and Cobb post MAF tubes.

Yup, both. And my canyon runs and dyno runs are a page or two back if you wanna hear for yourself... But no, it's not loud. It's actually quieter than an HFC setup.

35 seems like it's very good for that set-up IMO anyway. With some G3's and pulleys you might get a fair amount more.

I would think that the LTH's and the CBE would be REALLY loud lol. 18" resonators i'm guessing? and yeah I will check out the vids thanks!

Methodical4u 08-11-2011 01:10 AM

Yeah, it does indeed sound very good! Is it 91 octane out there where you are?

Yeah, I have the NST pulleys, just waiting on the belt for the install, then looking to get some Stillens, or maybe the Takeda's if they get them out soon enough... We shall see, then a Tune!

Yeah, 91 here but I put in the STP Octane Booster, so hopefully that gives me another point or two :rofl2:

Nobody is bent but im just saying. I bought my exhaust a few months ago, if I knew the design was going to change a few months later, i most likely would have held out and waited to allow more ground clearance for my car.... I think most people can understand that...

Ron 08-11-2011 09:12 AM

^ I agree

mtaxelson 08-11-2011 12:10 PM

everyones getting a little crazy lately...yikes...

F.I. Inc. 08-11-2011 01:28 PM

Just to chime in while I have a minute or two.

The change is not a design change. All we did in the build process is raise the front of the mufflers about 3/8". It is hardly even noticeable to the eye and will not fit the car any differently. It gives just a tad more ground clearance. About the last 50 systems that have shipped have had this change.

Now I need to get back to work and keep building everyones system. We are plugging away and I should have an update within the next few days.

Everyones patience is greatly appreciated as always...

Thank you, Tony

tjlazer 08-11-2011 01:36 PM

I can imagine if they announced the change right away, all preorders would of wanted the new design. LOL Oh well I could care less, I only scraped once and it was my fault for taking the speed bump at an angle...

Methodical4u 08-11-2011 02:09 PM

I think most know that they will likely scrape at some point, especially if lowered. This is why i'll never do it... I like the look, but not all of the headaches that it comes with. I'm lucky to be small enough that I can change my oil without even jacking the car up now :)

Footloose301 08-11-2011 02:13 PM

I HAD A DREAM!

...that Fast Intentions was able to produce exhaust systems faster

...Exhausts were able to be shipped that same day!

...and the people with less patience, such as myself, would stop being stubborn and just order the exhaust already

Order it then! lol Oh and on a side note... I have an Asian Fiancee :happydance:

bigdog1250 08-11-2011 04:10 PM

I am ordered and will hopefully forget I did so, so that come October I will have a very pleasant surprise.

Until then, can people upload/link me to their favorite videos of this exhaust. I feel like I haven't seen any that actually had good audio quality. I know this exhaust is going to sound beast, but I'd love to hear some of the best vids so that I can pretend mine is here already.

thanks :)

Hopefully they'll wait to assassinate you until after your exhaust is installed... lol :rofl2:

/\ same here, FI LTHs and CBE put on at the same time, dynoed with only those mods and gained +30 whp over my baseline dyno done on the same dyno. (waited about 500 miles post install to let everything "break in" first).

This vid from a fellow member is my inspiration to remain patient...I'm not gonna lie I watch this a couple times a day :icon17: IMO this vid does the best job of showing how beast this thing sounds

Sweet vid, sucks the wind gets in to a few bits. Sound wicked. Although I think he should have done a doughnut in the parking lot. :rofl2:

Only thing of note is he has a nismo, with a slightly different tune, I doubt it would have any effect on the outcome of the video, but just something to ponder... Does a Nismo/Base sound different in anyones opinions?
