Thank you for taking an interest in our products. We have many different options as you already know. Some combinations will go together better than others.

Please do not hesitate to call me directly with any questions that you may have. I am more than willing to help guide you in the correct direction as to (hopefully) what you will be happiest with.

Thank you, Tony

Call and talk with Tony. He will walk you through the options and make sure you get the sound you are looking for.

My FI exhaust has 12" resonators and drones between 1.5-2.5K rpm (which is kind of where you drive when you aren't laying into it). I don't know for sure that the longer resonators will help, but it may make the drone quieter. Other exhausts incorporate designs/tubes that eliminate the drone.

If you don't drive your car daily or aren't concerned about drone, the 12" is loud but not to the point where I worry about coming home late and annoying my neighbors.

I think the resonator sections are interchangeable (Tony can confirm). If so, you can always change them later if you are unhappy.

Currently weighing up this dilemma as well.. Keen to hear people's thoughts :)

Currently thinking that I'll go with the 18" resonators and then add HFCs later if its not loud enough.

If you really want something that's not really loud, go with the carbon fiber mufflers and the 18" resonator. The cf cans give it a slightly higher pitched, "exotic car" sound. The SS cans give it a deeper sound.

I have a non res'd CF cat back, and when it was just the car back part you could barely hear it in the cabin when cruising at 55-60. Now that I have the headers installed as well, my neighbors hear me in the morning when I start the car to go to work. It's LOUD. Just the cat back didn't have a drone, but with the headers it did do I put some GTmat in the trunk and that helped a lot. You can watch my videos for the cat back to see what I mean :)

I have the 18" Resonated cbe with SS cans and stock cats and i have to say there is drone if you drive in D mode. I have an auto. At about 2-3k. If you flip to manual there is less drone. I would think the 6MT guys don't have this since you could pick a lower gear.

Huck 09-15-2012 01:38 PM

Well I might be in a different situation since I have the CF cans, but I didn't have drone at all in any gear. When I installed the headers I picked up drone at 2500-2800 rpm. But the overall. Plume of my exhaust in the cabin had increased at least 200%

Tony is putting on my cat back this Tuesday. I picked it up used and it was non res. Tony said no prob. on adding the 18in resonators to it. I'll se if there is any drone you guys are talking about. I just hope it sounds nice!

Huck 09-15-2012 01:57 PM

Do t worry, you'll love it! And it's already broken in so you do t have to worry about the sound changing at all

I know it will be in good hands with its maker doing the install.

From my understanding, the 12" and 18" sound the same from outside, just sound different from inside the cabin as far as drone goes.

Hmm interesting... If this is correct then why would you go with the 12" if it just creates more drone inside the cabin?
