The Geek 01-04-2009 01:15 PM

Anybody know if one would have to remove the front bumper to install the Stillen intake?

18rgcelica73 01-05-2009 01:47 AM

It looks like you may have to but I don't know on the 370z when it comes out.

shumby 01-05-2009 02:01 AM

looks like maybe. I know on the G37 you don't have to but it makes it easier. but we did have to remove the grill and that don't look like an option on the Z

DIGItonium 01-06-2009 11:34 PM

LOL thread derail. I came here from the MY350Z because I got fed up with people posting about how much they hate the 370Z in every thread and creating threads complaining. I look for information, and all I get is complaints.

So... how does one "easily" change and clean the intake filters with this setup?

shumby 01-06-2009 11:42 PM

^^^^ well on the G you have to remove the grill.

Slidefox 01-06-2009 11:51 PM

Cleaned up the OT folks. Nothing bad about any of the posts, just trying to keep the thread on topic with the title. :D

I can't wait to get my 370z so I can get some of these intakes. Are they going to have CARB #'s or are they not legal in good ol' California?

just wait til they hit the Z's.....ooo man, that's gonna rock the Z's

I sure hope so. I remember that the long tubes for the 350Z actually lost power...including stillens. Most people used short rams like JWT or Gruppe-M. Stock was best since it was already a cold air intake. Anyone know whats the best setup for the HR?

18rgcelica73 01-12-2009 10:06 PM

So does anyone know if these intakes will have a CARB exemption #?

Good question... I'm wondering the same thing myself. The Nissan motors tend to score crappy with the EPA, so I'm sure it's hard to get CARB certs for them.

Nikon FM 01-26-2009 12:28 PM

At this point nothing but questions

We have not fitted the 370Z with an intake system, but be assured we will be all over it once we have a long term vehicle in house. I can't say what gains would be on the 3.7L Z, we'll have to wait and see.

Keep us apprised of the products you're looking for, I'd be happy to take them into our new products meetings..

Not sure what mods will work for the 370Z engine but, with one of my previous NA cars I installed a big bore throttle body (BBTB) in addition to a CAI (cold air intake) and my calibrated butt dyno felt some good gains. Are you looking at producing a BBTB of sorts in addition to the CAIs for the 370Z engine?

Thanks

18rgcelica73 01-28-2009 10:49 AM

I am still waiting to know if these will meet smog regulations here in California. Stillen has plenty of money to test and get certified, if they don't they are going to miss out on a huge market here.

Crash 01-28-2009 05:15 PM

I agree... Although, when I go turbo, it won't even matter. But we'll see how far away the turbo setup is after I get my car. I assume that I'll be able to afford it a few months after I get my car, so I'll want a pair of intake before then. If Stillen gets these CARB certified, I'll buy them right away.

A majority of our intakes are CARB Certified, and others are CARB Pending (information submitted for approval). CARB is not very speedy in their process for getting approval. It may take a while once submitted, and it will be.

Josh@STILLEN 01-29-2009 10:15 AM

I hope to be able to release the results of our dyno testing on the 370Z Gen 3 intakes soon.. they are FANTASTIC!

NIZMOZ 01-29-2009 10:29 AM

Josh where is the HR 350Z intake status?! A lot of people are asking over on my350z.com and want them!

Great cuz I am getting those long tube intakes if and only if they are CARB legal. Stillen is the shite.:ughdance: Keep us updated on the CARB situation sir and power numbers of course as well.

This R&D on the new design will most definitely finalize the 350Z version of these intakes. Definitely stay tuned.

We've done the following:

- G37 Coupe
- G37 Sedan
- G35 Sedan

Results have been great!

TerribleONE 01-29-2009 04:37 PM

cant wait to see the dyno results.

Are these G3 long tubes pending?

When they exist, they will be submitted for CARB certification.

Well I for one am anxiously awaiting the final results !!!

this in combination with decent aftermarket exaust should yield over 300 rwhp on the dyno...

Josh@STILLEN 02-04-2009 12:15 PM

Sorry for the delay, here are the dynos for both the Gen 3 Intake System (18hp) and new Cat-Back Exhaust (18hp) for the 370Z..

These are both in production, but realistically it's looking like March for a firm shipping date.

semtex 02-04-2009 01:31 PM

Very nice! A March shipping date at least gives me a little time to save up some extra money!
Quick question tho -- these 18hp gains, are they independent of each other? Like would you get 18hp out of the intake alone even with the stock exhaust and vice versa? Or do you need both in conjunction with each other to get a net +18hp?

ssqpolo 02-04-2009 01:46 PM

nice stuff...cant wait till March

speedworks 02-04-2009 02:06 PM

Its actually only () 16hp for intake, right?

bboypuertoroc 02-04-2009 02:07 PM

Very impressive results. How many total runs were made and how did you choose which runs to display? Did you take the best runs from stock and modded or around average runs?

Did you guys make a run with both the intakes and exhaust?

The VQ37 is very impressive with what it's doing with bolt-ons.

We used repeatable numbers for the final, not anomalies, if that's what you meant. The Gen 3 intake will actually produce maximum power after about 6-7 dyno runs..

We had limited time with the 370Z we had, we did not do both this time around. Unfortunately you can't just add the numbers together, but they will definitely compliment each other.

Sound is insane. No video clips yet, but you can see the ones for the G37..

That would be VERY sweet if ricer math really worked, LMAO. Like you said though, they should compliment each other nicely.

Do you have any video links (non-Youtube)?

kdo2milger 02-05-2009 02:36 AM

Thanks Josh!

Those are impressive gains! I look forward to seeing these in march, I will prob pull the trigger on these two mods in april...then wait for july to take delivery of my new toy :)

kdo2milger 02-05-2009 02:40 AM

quick question Josh...

when will your website be updated under veh drop down to select 370z?

Josh@STILLEN 02-05-2009 10:26 AM

Just as soon as we add the products to the website.. :)

Yeah, I guess I'm a lil too excited:rolleyes:

ScooterN2 02-06-2009 02:24 PM

How might this affect airflow through the radiator? Could there be any cooling problems or additional cooling considerations if an oil cooler is also added?

Asheth 02-10-2009 01:26 PM

After doing some looking around about our brother the g37 everyone swears by this intake I think I will go with these all the way!

18rgcelica73 02-11-2009 11:37 AM

I would love to know what the whp and wtq will be with both bolted up to it.

RCZ 02-11-2009 12:40 PM

Could you PM me the price for both?
