Got the cats off without to much of a fight, but it was time consuming. I Installed the new cats and while doing so dropped a 14mm extended socket on my head. It gave me a 2" gash pretty deep and a nice big lump. I probably should have gone to the ER and got a stitch or two, but I didn't want to spend the rest of my day doing that. I finished bolting everything else up, but the tips are so close to the bumper. I tried to adjust them down a bit, but no luck. Because of the cats, it was a long day, so I called it quits for now. I'll try and deal with the tip issue tomorrow. Not sure what I'm gonna do about it though.

Add some washers under the muffler isolator brackets.

I'm going to try that today, but even with the brackets unbolted, the tips wouldn't move.

You may have to loosen up muffler's from X pipe & move around a tad,,,a little there goes a long way's out back...& small washer's as needed underneath the 3-bolt hanger's out back.

I was thinking about that as well. I figured loosen everything, let it settle and then retighten.

I had similar issues when I Installed the previous cat-back in the Z. The only difference was I had access to a lift. It made it a lot easier.

Washers and readjustment did the trick!

It sounds incredible! There is a slight rasp before it warms up, but I believe that is from the HFCs. To me, it's very loud and noticeable. If it were my daily driver, I wouldn't be able to deal with it (I have a 3 hour total commute every day), but since it's the garage queen/weekend cruiser/race car, it's perfect!

I took it for an hour drive and I noticed a smell, but I believe that's due to the can of Liquid Wrench I emptied on the cat to header bolts. Hopefully that burns off soon and the smell disappears. I checked all of the connections, so I don't believe I have any leaks.

Now I definitely need a tune. I noticed the idle is a bit high, around 1,000 rpms and it fluctuates: slightly higher and lower at times. I've done a lot to the car in the past 9 months, so I'm pretty sure a tune will correct all of that.

Overall: I'm very happy with this system. The customer service, build quality, fit and finish and performance are all top notch.

Thanks Kevin and everyone at Fast Intentions for a great system and customer experience. Thanks everyone in here for your continued support, suggestions and for adding to an already great community.

Check out this video we just did, where we spotlight an in-house installation of our world-renowned Nissan 370z TDX CBE. Since it's release in 2009, we've sold/created/installed/shipped over 1,750 systems for this model. All created and built in house. The success of this exhaust system has spawned the birth of many other products such as; our long tube headers, resonated test pipes, high flow cats, oil cooler kit, and record setting twin turbo system. All which are still going strong thanks to our loyal and supportive clients.

I have 2 more months to go. It will be worth it though. I am cheating, I already have an FI exhaust. I just
couldn't help myself to have carbon fiber mufflers and Prismatic tips.

HIZZY 08-23-2017 09:32 AM

question....

once i get this installed.... say alignment is slightly off.... do these exhaust systems come with the extra washers to adjust alignment???

i want the shop i choose to install this system to have everything they need...

thanks

FI designs their products well enough to make sure washers aren't needed, so the answer is no they won't come with any washers - I've installed 4 different FI exhausts and never experienced anything other than absolute perfect fitment :twocents:

That being said ... what shop are you thinking about taking it to that wouldn't have some washers laying around somewhere? :icon14:

Nobody is better at finding things to complain about than me, and mine turned out perfect with having the dealership install, even they didn't mess it up!

I love this exhaust! I think I am going to have to order one and ditch my Invidia:driving:
