But... I think the problem you having with Rev 1 (and maybe 2 as well) is location for the MAF sensors -- they look to be higher in the intake tract than OEM, which will create misreads, at least without tuning.

Actually, the MAF placement is good. The MAFs are after the longest straight piece of piping. The reason I made the intakes in this orientation is so I could have a long straight. This maintains velocity around/thru the sensor. We do not have any tuning issues. No voltage spikes, no weird correction issues. The intakes are very easy to tune.

I like using the silicone in the bumper/filter area. It helps alleviate any vibration/noise issues. It also fits a bit nicer.

The intakes will require the bumper to be removed to install, however you will be able to remove/reinstall with only the top plastics removed. This allows us to eliminate all couplers in the engine bay. The final intakes will not have any welds...all mandrel bent.

As far as testing, I am in 100% agreement. I need to get a car in here with the Stillen intakes so I can do some testing between the two. I have one customer who is bringing the car, but he has extensive bolt-on's so I would like to get 1 or 2 other cars for a more thorough test group.

In fact, if someone is interested PM me. I can offer a good deal on parts, labor and tuning for the effort.... no charge labor/cost on the intakes/dyno time :) Plus you get to be the coolest kid around with our intakes. :rofl2:

^^^ I thought you guys were losing power/reading overly rich on v1? The diameter change is obviously going to change the airflow velocity but if you have v1 at OEM diameter, at worst it should neither gain nor lose if everything is being interpolated correctly by the ECU.

Where it samples makes a big difference -- the location you have may work well in terms of fluid dynamics, but if the voltage it reads at a given load is different relative to the ECU MAF mapping the end result is that tuning will be needed with both no matter what diameter piping is used.

So, to clarify -- by "misreads" I don't read random spikes in voltage due to airflow tumble, I mean that its getting a voltage reading that doesn't match how the ECU injector tables are mapped, thus tuning will be required even using the same diameter pipe if the MAF sensors are sampling in different locations or orientations.

In for when these come around. If i had intakes already id def make the drive to you guys, not that far away lol

Hopefully heading up soon to see how much power these add :) can't speak highly enough of John and his staff at akuma

Anyone know what diameter the Stillen intakes are vs the new Akuma 2.75" intake?

Also, any idea what diameter the OEM throttle bodies are?

Kevin@AkumaMS 06-01-2012 02:41 PM

2.75" but it necks down at the maf sensors

'10Anamoly 06-01-2012 02:49 PM

The Stillen intake necks down at the MAF? Doesnt look like it to me.. I'm confused

SPOHN 06-02-2012 01:48 PM

It would look good if the MAF was under (upside down) the intakes, almost hidden.

Tell you what, I am liking this design of all mandrel bent. I would go for the Stage 2 without the Breather tubes on the. Looking good.

I want a intake design that uses a intercooler like setup

I live about an hour and a half north. My car is stock except mishimoto MAF tubes and KN drop ins.

Please PM me what your looking to do and how much.
