Nismo cold air intake does retain level sensor

I just got mine in and reading the instructions I see that it does keep the level sensor for the fluid on the new tank. A few threads back somebody said it did not. All the parts are there to extend any wires or hoses as well. It's a very complete kit. I'm having mine put on next week along with berk hfc and oil cooler at P Tuning. Maybe I'll get a dyno run too.

Would be very interested to see your results.

Do you have an UpRev license?

DCNISMO 04-21-2012 12:43 PM

Not yet, I'm going to get the FI exhaust and then get a tune with dyno run. But I might try to see if I get a tune with the intake and berk cats only, I can come back for a tune at a good price for an update once I get the new exhaust. I think they will work with me on that. I'm going to be there wendesday and I don't know if the dyne is free that day. If it is I'll get a few pulls and maybe a tune. I'll post all results once I get back.

Nice! Does it require the removal of the bumper for install? Can't wait to see your results.

DCNISMO 04-21-2012 01:44 PM

According to the instructions it does not have to come off but the belly pan does and the car needs to be lifted. Since I'm having the oil cooler installed too it will make he job easier since the bumper comes off for that. I'll scan the intake install instructions and post them tomorrow for those that are curious.

If it's the Nismo R Type intake, you absolutely have to take the bumper cover off... And drill the bumper support to mount the reservoir.

I'll go look again but I thought it did not require bumper removal. You do have to still holes into the underside of the aluminum bar. I'll post the instructions tomorrow once I get to work and get acceess to a good scanner. It's quite a lot of pages abd very detailed.

Update: Does not require bumper removal. It says so in big bold letters. For doubters you can read it tomorrow.

Yes, the instructions say you can do it simply by removing the splash shield from the bottom and doing all of the work between the radiator support and the bumper cover. If you want to do that, go right ahead. I highly recommend taking the bumper off, it will make everything a lot simpler for you.

Uhhh, well, I'm one of the probably 2 or 3 people on this forum that HAS one and I've taken it off/on the car multiple times for various reasons, so yeah, I suppose I am a bit of an expert. I suppose, for folks like you, I should have stated that the "Instructions" state that you do not have to remove it. It is, however, my educated opinion that you absolutely must remove the bumper in order to successfully and cleanly install this intake system. Better? :shakes head:

Since the OP is having a shop do it (which is not a bad idea), it's pretty moot.

DCNISMO 04-22-2012 09:03 AM

Yes I live in a condo building and I'm not permitted to work in the underground garage on my car. So I'm having a shop do the install and if I was going to do it myself I would remove the bumper anyhow, as it's looks to be a bit tight if you don't. The bumper is coming off for the oil cooler install anyhow. That's why I'm having it all done in one visit. I also have ss brake lines. I'll have that done later when I get the exhaust done too.

I had second thoughts on purchasing the Nismo intake, however good to hear that it includes wiring for the washer sensor. Keep us posted after the install with your thoughts and the dyno results would be appreciated. Subscribed

Sorry guys but I have not posted (or been on the forum) for a while. Who makes this intake? Nissan? Thanks, any info is appreciated...
