The 370z isn't the most expensive car around but I think it deserves better than the muffler delete treatment. Come on guys, have a little pride.

^Want to pay for my college? How about a CBE..

It's like seeing a Honda with an unpainted body kit. Please, just don't do it. |

Best bet would be to find a shop in Austin or San Antonio. |

Gunzero, what college you plan on going too? |
@theDreamer: Yea.. :/ This town sucks. There are 3 370z here though.. 2 red and one white.
@batman_4: I am going to UTPB fall of this year. I barely graduated last year from high school. @LaSeeno: Quote:

My parents bought it for me.. well for graduation they bought me the TRD 5.0 Scion tC.. was too slow so they got me the Z, but yea college first. However, I would really love to wake up the Z!
|
I did it cause I can't stand how quiet the stock exhaust is. And i can't mod my car for 6 months cause if I do I have to pay 85% tax on it. So you do the calculation of 85% tax on a 5ziegen or Amuse CBE. 85% on the $1 of washers I used is doable though lol.
|
^lol can you post a sound clip for me with that mod? I might have to do that since I can't seem to find anybody to make me custom tips. ffs.
|
Sounds just like the first post. I think it's fine almost no drone, it's only crazy loud when i start the car in the morning.
I'm worried about damaging the parts under the car cause of the hot gases leaking out though. So it's def a temp thing. |
Ah yea, That's why I want some custom tips.. :/ sadly my resources are limited since I live nowhere close to anybody that would do it. It would be nice to have someone fabricate it for me and ship it.. but whatever. :(

The point of modding is to show respect for your car (a), and to do what you like (b). Now it is your car and I have no matter in telling you what to do, but I would hope buying a 90,000USD car and just doing a muffler delete you would understand how stupid that is. Also, where are you getting your numbers from? 2,000USD for an exhaust system that gains 10whp? I dropped under 1,000USD and the exhaust has proven gains of 15-20, many are dropping at most 1,500USD and getting equal or slightly better gains. For less money and far more gains than what you seem to claim to. The value of money seems to be wasted on you, why did you spend 90,000USD just to devalue it with a cheap modification? Come back when you have a valid counter point and not just grasping at straws. |
And all this time I thought the entire purpose of modding was to make a car better for the person behind the wheel.
Why is this even being argued about? Whatever floats your boat, just stay the **** away from mine. |

a) Make something more desirable than the stock form. That may be sound, power, gas mileage, whatever. Some people do it for themselves (like me), others do it to impress others. I don't really care where you fall. I'm with you little buddy, if I mod the Z it's because I want more power, so I will spring for the real exhaust. The $2k exhaust for 10whp I was talking about was (obviously) for the Range. On the Range Rover I just wanted it a little bit louder, not more power because I don't intend on racing it...because it's an SUV...that I drive in the Winter...when there's snow...where hp gains don't really matter. So I could either: a) Spend 2 grand on an exhaust with minimal if any gains. b) Spend $100 to have the muffler deleted and get the sound I want. What to do. :gtfo2: |

How did you guys manage to get those 4 nuts loose? Ive been tryin all afternoon on and off to get them off and I can't. I used wrenches and a socket wrench 14mm. Im starting to strip the nuts so I stopped. Can you guys shed some light on how you removed these ? thanks.

I wouldn't hit the bolt directly, but you can hit the ratchet or wrench to get a little bit of an impact gun action. I have to do that to break the caliper bolts loose because I can't really get that much leverage inside the wheel wells. Just don't whack it too hard!
But the breaker bar is going to be your best bet. :D |
Alright thanks for all the input guys! +1 rep to you all! Ill go out to lowes and buy the breaker bar. If that doesnt work im just going to give up. Did you guys jack the car up when you did this?

A rubber mallet is pretty good as well, but there is really no problem just giving the bolts some good taps... But agreed on the breaker bar! |
