Better, yes, but will there be anything tangible to me the driver with them or mainly on paper like a dyno? Are we looking at 3 whp, better engine response, improved fuel economy or something along those lines?

batman_4 01-24-2012 10:50 PM

putting it in butt 'dyno terms' i did feel an increase in HP.

i have also been able to see the differences as i raced my buddys decked out GTI and now pull on him starting in 2nd and keep that distance between the two as opposed to pre-post MAF when we would stay even all the way up to 5th, no joke.

brucelidat 01-24-2012 11:01 PM

the post MAF was the only difference or was it coupled with other mods? Hmm, I think I should go check the DIY section for a post MAF write up and see how easy it is to install. I don't expect big gains, but if it feels better, maybe it can appease the mod bug.

only other 'performance' mod is my invidia exhaust

i feel the exhaust is prob where most of the gains came from but still, the post MAF is a pretty inexpensive mod. I'll probably try them out.

brucelidat 01-24-2012 11:19 PM

I'm looking at the z1 ones. I assume they're all more or less the same as long as it's a reputable source? Anyone know if it comes with install instructions? I am not a mechanic by any means and like to have easy to follow instructions.

are these thing washable or do you have to replace them after so many miles?(sorry to OP for slight thread jack, was just curious). As for the OP, i am planning on going the same route with the post MAF and drop ins, but i am also debating on whether to do a CBE first or not too lol.

CBE is a much more expensive purchase, it shouldn't be one or the other. I'd definitely get on the wait list for a Fast Intentions exhaust. Takes about 2 months from when you order it, and you only need a $200 deposit. Best gaining AND sounding exhaust.

I'm buying the Post-MAF tubes and filters now also

i don't know about the sound on the FI CBE, but the exhaust i eventually wanted to go after later on down the road was the Powerhouse Amuse R1 titan exhaust, that thing sounds amazing and is light as hell to boot. from what i hear a gain of around 20whp can be had with the amuse exhaust, but it is pretty expensive.

i had raced him multiple times w/my exhaust already on...i would get him by no more than my front bumper being ahead of his front bumper by a foot. once i coupled the exhaust w/the post-MAF tubes i was able to pull on him :eekdance:

Skeeterbop 01-25-2012 10:16 AM

I have the Z1 post MAF tubes. They don't come with instructions but it is very self explanatory.

Ok, i'm sold! Do you have the k&n drop-ins also?

sfearl1 01-25-2012 10:40 AM

what about drop ins, post maf and test pipes/HFC as an econo-mod route... i imagine that combo frees up your bottlenecks on a budget ;)
