370Z Borla Exhaust Development

[YOUTUBEHQ]YUn7424iTj8[/YOUTUBEHQ] I think bad microphone has a lot to do with the rasp but then again why use bad microphone when you're uploading an exhaust video. Anyone heard this setup in person? I will let our sponsors fill you guys in more about release dates, prices etc. |
Meh, mic can't account for rasp that bad. I don't like the sound of it...

I don't think it sounds that bad. It is in development, so I feel that they will improve the sound a bit.

One of the employees from borla started a thread on my350z and asked for our opinions on what we wanted. I can't link it here but it's in the 370z subforum and it's titled 370z@borlaperformance.

Any idea what the length of the tips will be? From the video it looks like they are angled which I like will that stay? I havent seen the borla for g37 maybe have to look it up, but do you have any numbers that came from that car?
[YOUTUBEHQ]KCTU3YqgG_Y[/YOUTUBEHQ] For comparison sake. I think it relates [YOUTUBEHQ]AelW-D5LtuU[/YOUTUBEHQ] |
Borla has always been a little raspy, even with the Mustangs.
I was a Magnaflow guy with my Mustang.... very smooth and pure. I'll be interested to hear what they come out with. |
I prefer the Borla methinks.
|
I have Borla Stingers on my Mustang... awesome!

I had Borla on my 350 and I think it sounded great. I also remember hearing that one of the earlier Nismo systems was a Borla design.

Any new information on the Borla system for the 370z? I've been waiting to upgrade the exhaust system until Borla came out with their system, but I've my local performance shop hasn't heard anything about it yet. They told me I should think about going with Stillen so that they can install the headers and cat-back in one shot.

This is a bit off topic, but I thought I should ask. Were you driving your Z in South Jersey today? Today around 1 pm , I just randomly looked outside my window to see my Z that's parked outside on the street. I saw this White 370Z driving by and stops right next to my Z. He steps out, checks out my car, then step inside his car and drive away. Was it you? Just curious... if it wasn't you, please disregard this paragraph.. |

Thanks Joey! We received such positive feedback over the years for our 350z dual exhaust (relative to sound enhancements) that we approached the 370z in a similar manner. Tuning an exhaust for sound is a real challenge because it's so subjective. One man's "drone" is another man's "symphony". There's only one reason we were able to build something that was so widely well received and that's because we reached out to the Z community during the development process. I just want to thank you guys for all the feedback, good and bad. Cheers |

Thought I link this tread over to the370z.com site from my350z.com 370Z@Borla Performance - MY350Z.COM Forums. I really would like to see Borla come out with their system already and if they went with a X-pipe, H-pipe, or Y-pipe design.

Anymore news about this?

Alvin and David from Borla, and other members,
I just bought my 370Z. I own a 350Z with Borla Catback exhaust system. It’s the best investment I have ever made on this car. Besids HP gain, the sound is deep and it “sings” all the way up. It’s quiet on the highway unless I push the car a little. It’s simply the best sounding car I have ever heard and beats any Porsche or Ferrari sound from far in my opinion. Most important, it doesn’t sound crappy like most of the after market exhaust systems. It sounds “sophisticated”, like a high end V8 and makes a lot of curious people turn their heads when I drive buy. I am such a Borla fan that I am really impatient for it to be available. If I refer to the 350Z Borla system, I’ve been looking at the “Borla Development video” for the 370Z and I don’t think that the recorded sound does it justice… One important thing about the Borla exhaust, the tip are inclined just like the original, giving a better “fit” overall. The tips are realy nice. ALVINT, DAVID! PLEASE GIVE US SOME INFO ABOUT WHEN THE BORLA CAT BACK WILL HIT THE MARKET! Thanks |
Borla's reply
Hello,
I contacted Borla on May 10th and here is what they said: "Thank you for your interest in Borla products. We are looking around 30days before the system will be released. Please check back with us around Mid July." Can't wait! |
They were saying late April, then it became early may. I talked to the engineers at Borla on may 8 and they told me it would be released the week of may 11. After a few more weeks I bought the Stillen system because the Borla still wasn't available. Now that I'm hearing July, it makes me happy because I don't have any buyers remorse.
|
This just out: Now it's mid-August.
Kidding. But this is getting a bit old. |
I doubt I will be waiting until the Borla is released. Taking too long and I am in a hurry to put an exhaust on my Z.
|
Cut them some slack guys. At least they aren't rushing it and selling us crap.
|
Producing good sound is great. But my question is. Will this Borla exhaust be able
To match or exceed the amount of power added by the stillen exhaust. 18+ hp on stillen. And its power most say they can feel. |

I wish u guys at Borla all the success with the exhaust. Cuz its never good for the consumer to have
one dominant brand. |

Search this site and you will likely find a thread that has someone's dyno before and after with just ths Stillen exhaust. As an aside, when Stillen says things like "no one has higher hp gains from their exhaust" That just means that on Stillen's dyno there was an 18 hp difference before and after. If they run it on a different day, or different part of the day when temperature is cooler or if they heat soak the car on the "before" run, it will exaggerate the difference. Every manufacturer has a vested interest in exaggerating the results. Most people only gain 5 hp or so from aftermarket exhausts, but they are testing in an unbiased manner... |
Wow... that's a big investment for 26hp. Stillen claims all those parts to average
An increase of 60 hp with all those add ons. But is your 26hp. WHP? Have u clocked ur ride with the add ons? How u do in the quarter? |
I haven't tracked it. Here is more info on the mods: http://www.the370z.com/tuning/4594-induction-parts-ecu-reflash-dyno-results.html Stillen parts + ECU reflash
