Is there a picture of the OEM cat bracket that is needed to be reused? I'm getting my ART pipes put on this weekend and don't wanna go through any headaches.

Kind of hard to make out in this picture, but its in the bottom right, it connects both cats. It's really hard to miss when youre under the car.

glad everything worked out.

I contacted who i got the exhaust from and they are sending me out a new piece right away.. Still though if it happens again invidia needs to use a higher quality flex joint.. looking on other forums and searching the flex joint issue seems to be a semi common occurance. Thats what the flex joint is there for.. to flex from the vibration and movement of the engine if it keeps breaking because of that whats the point.

yeah its pretty clear that with enough abuse it cracks. I broke 2 driving normally simply because I didn't have that bracket. so far its holding up good but im worried about when I take it to the track or the extra stress from the super charger. if it brakes again ill likely have a shop weld in some custom flex joints.

Any body with the Gemini and ART pipes have this issue?

Tony@Motordyne says it not needed and docaam who has this setup says he didn't use it wuth no issue.

no, go look at pictures of the exhaust and you will see why.

the_student 05-04-2011 11:42 AM

Oh it's an x pipe. I don't know where I read y pipe lol. I had an hks before in my old car. Now thinking of getting this since it's cheaper. Hopefully I'll have no problems.

370zjames 05-06-2011 05:04 AM

Something inside of my muffler was cracked!! (test pipe and y-pipe on the car) It's making rattling noisy!! I took my car to dealer and they ordered new muffler for me and it's under warranty!! I have no idea how that happend..

im surprised the dealer warrantied your stock muffler since you have test pipes and a y pipe.

Because test pipes and after market y pipe have nothing at all to do with his stock muffler...

He was pointing out the fact that the dealer could have not warrantied the muffler because he modified the rest of the exhaust system. An upgraded y pipe and test pipes flow more air than the stock exhaust which could damage the stock muffler, and possibly did.

TongMan 05-08-2011 06:58 PM

So, it's safe to assume that if you have your stock cat on then you won't have breaking or cracking issues.

for the most part I would say yes, you should have no issues. I still have no problems with the bracket in place.

brado 05-08-2011 09:32 PM

im going on my second week with my new flex pipe and i have no issues knock on wood.

i had my gemini exhaust on for about 3 months before i put test pipes on and i had no issues so i would say thats true, but the test pipes compliment the sound very well imo.

Daishi 05-09-2011 09:29 AM

Im going to be putting on the new passenger side pipe that invidia sent me today, so far the drivers side flex joint has been fine and its the passenger side thats leaking.

jran76 05-09-2011 10:45 AM

Just saw this.... I had an issue with the weld on one of the flanges that connect to the cat; it was only welded half way around and had a massive leak. Not sure how they missed that, but they sent me a replacement pipe, and I have not had any issues in the 5000 miles since installing.

I also have a loose hanger that is rattling on one side. I am not sure if the Z exhaust is the same (I have a G37 sedan), but the hanger on the muffler is 2 pieces and the part that attaches to the car slides over the piece that attaches to the muffler. On one side there is a weld holding the 2 together, and the other side is missing the weld altogether. Again just looked like over-sight on their (QA?) part.

Overall, the welds and quality look good, but I think, at least in my case, it was a QA issue. As mentioned, you get what you pay for. In the end, Invidia took care of the major issue, and at some point I will get a quick weld on the hanger to address the other issue.

are you sure its a leak? this exhaust makes a hissing noise, in fact i believe all the aftermarket exhausts make that noise on the 370. at least from what ive heard on youtube videos. does it only make the noise when u let off the gas?
