This is a very interesting (Nicely Priced) setup and sounds really good. I haven't heard this exhaust with HFC or Test pipes yet and could not find a clip. If anyone is running the Full exhaust (HFC or Test + Y-pipe + Top Speed) post up a video clip or share your thoughts. I don’t want any hiss or rasp so I am sitting on the fence until I hear the full exhaust setup, power looks great though with just the Y-pipe + Top Speed.

Time for a new CBE:
I think my Invidia Gemini has bit the dust, I scrapped it pretty bad over a speed bump. Had an exhaust shop patch the exhaust leak but it has not been the same since. Something is rattling in the resonator at certain rpms.

I'm running the system with the resonator chamber and honestly... without it... i think it might be a little loud for my taste. I'm also running Berk HFC's, though.

My exact setup is Berk HFC's, JIC Y-pipe (this peice is pure sex.. i recommend the JIC over the topspeed.) and TopSpeed exhaust with resonator. It sounds like a rolling orgasm. I'm very picky about rasp which is the reason i ditched the Stillen exhaust and went with this set up. I couldn't be happier. Sounds more exotic than the Stillen with ZERO rasp.

I will get some video of the car on the dyno next week so you can get a good idea of what the exhaust sounds like.

The big resonator doesnt really change how loud it is. Both systems are very quiet by comparison to lets say Megan Racing/Agency power or FI etc.

What the resonator does do is slightly change the tone up a bit and move the point at which the exhaust tone changes from like a deep rumble to a more pronounced scream (not high pitched)

Ok... I'm running muffler deletes right now so my car is fairly loud and I already have the Y pipe.

I don't think I'm going to change to test pipes anytime soon, I may hold off for the ART pipes.

In any case I think I'll order the one without the extra resonator, I like mine to sound exotic. :-P

Thanks for the update sounds like the (TopSpeed with Resonator) is a good setup. Where did you find your JIC Y-pipe? It looks really nice but comes with a higher cost then some of the others I have seen on Ebay. Found it at OutPerformance Shop for $350.00.

JIC Y Pipe looks a lot like OBX but twice the cost if it is better made then I think it’s worth the expense.

TypeOne 04-11-2011 03:32 PM

Just for reference...

My Y pipe was $100 and it looks just as good as it did when I put it on. Except now, it's a nice shiny gold color. The flex joints and flanges are still perfect.

If the JIC pipe has something on it that is worth an extra $200... let me know.

TopSpeed Y pipe?

Is there any reason no one is going with the TopSpeed Y pipe?

It looks like a nicely welded pipe and is only 199.00 on TopSpeeds Website. Plus since I live in Texas and TopSpeed is based in Dallas the shipping for Y Pipe + Exhaust is only 28.99!

The Resonated Exhaust is about the same cost on TopSpeed's Website (584.00) as on Ebay (579.95) so it would be nice to buy everything straight from TopSpeed.

I pulled the trigger on the whole cat back exhaust system (TopSpeed Y Pipe + TopSpeed Resonated Exhaust). Ordered it today and the salesmen told me it will be at my Door tomorrow, nice!

Can't wait to get it on my Z. The YouTube video below sealed the deal for me. If you’re reading this thanks Westwood for posting the video several months ago, sounds sick!

Haha! I saw his video too and thought the same thing. It sounds sexy! But a little on the loud side... Please post your reviews after installation.

i bought the top speed cbe (non resonated), test pipes, headers, ypipe and short shifter. pretty much everything. but im thinking that im not going to bother with test pipes and headers. (mainly coz i know it wont pass emissions)
so im just gona to run ypipe, cbe, and maybe order berks hfc just like westwoods set up.

I just got T/S CBE, T/S Ypipe, and the cheap test pipes. I ran just the cbe for a couple weeks. It had a nice deep tone but wasn't too much louder than stock. The mid pipe was just hanging too low and was vibrating against the cross brace so I cut a chuck out of a rubber mud flap. We will see how long it last.

The test pipes definitely changed the sound. Much louder.

I had the same issue with the midpipe hanging too low. Had to get a few metal clamps and pull it up more using the exhaust hangers. Definitely a little to be desired in regard to fitment.

The muffler tips were also too high and rubbed against the bumper. Had to put in about half an inch of washers along with longer bolts on the rear two muffler hanger mounts to drop it enough to clear.

The sound is a little loud for my taste when coupled with the Motordyne ART pipes. Considering going back to stock until I find a replacement.

It's quiet enough at cruising speed, but anything past half-throttle is loud and borderline obnoxious.

I love Top Speed CBE. I really don't care about the NAME of the exhaust company. You can custom weld cheap parts and still can gain a lot. I believe that what you pay for the CBE is like the quality of welding, materials used and the brand name. For example, I know that Meisterschaft CBE always come out with crazy top quality and it sounds amazing. But it doesn't make much of gain I heard. My friend had Amuse R1000 and always complained about it. He runs the track a lot and told me "I had R1000. It was garbage. It easily exceeds race track dB limit by 20dB. Couldn't even use them." and they nearly cost like $3000 or more. so my point is don't get caught up with the NAME of the brand. TOP Speed is really cheap and has GREAT sounding. I will get Top Speed CBE one day if I get money. Thanks for the great review Dai. :)

I'm still considering this setup... although now I am concerned with the mid section being too low to the ground.

My car is slammed and I did notice that my factory mid pipe had a huge bend in it from driving.

I foresee disaster... sigh...

Juruki 08-01-2011 04:18 PM

my car is low with half a finger gap all around. The part that i scratch the most is the Y-pipe, right where the flex pipes are. Luckily its still not leaking after 4-5 months of abuse.
I tried taking a quick iphone pic:
