Default R2C Black Hex Intake vs K&N Typoon

Looking to get a Short RAM Type Intake for ease of use and maintenance.

i know the Gen 3 is way to go, but i don't want to deal with removing bumper etc..

What are your thoughts on comparing these two options ?

One cost roughly $500(R2C), the other $380 (K&N)...

Is the R2C better given the price and black hex Filter ?

Get drop ins and call it a day. It's pretty much either drop-ins or Stillen G3 for intakes. Short rams won't make any difference and you might lose power as your pulling hot air from the engine bay.

Correct, once the engine bay heats up, they'll do little to nothing to help. The only real pros of the K&N Short Ram is the sound and how it looks.

The R2C heat shields are actually very good. My guess is they are comparable to the stock intake boxes. This just means the initial intake air temps are similar.

The problem is the tubes are metal. The stock tubes insulate intake air from the engine bay heat much better than metal tubes.

Just my after having run stock intakes for 30K miles and R2C intakes for 40K miles.
