BERK Catback Exhaust System installs/reviews

I got my Berk HFC's installed today. I did everything myself in my garage. I outwitted the dreaded "DEMON BOLT" too! Thanks to my little friend (Liquid Wrench Penetrating oil). I was shocked myself that it came out as easy as it did. All I used was 1/2" extensions and sockets with a breaker bar.

I took her for a spin and there is a definite sound difference under load. Plus the butt dyno was pretty happy. I can't wait to get my exhaust installed now! I will post pictures later

Congratulations on your install and defeating the dreaded “Demon” bolts!
I will be going the same route with the Brek’s HFC very soon.
That being said, I’m a little worried about how loud it may get don’t want draw to much unnecessary attention , I also don’t want to spoil the wonderful sound I’m getting from my Stillen’s CBE , just like to deepen it and enhance it a bit!

I think the Berk HFC paired with your stillen CBE will sound good. The stillen is already a pretty mild sounding exhaust. These will defiantly give you some extra ponies and sound. They are 200 cell and they flow really well. But there is "some" rasp. Nothing compared to test pipes though!

As for the sound clip I will probably wait until I get my CBE installed. This might help you a little if you have not already seen them:

I've already insalled the CBE and now I have the HFCs on order, so I am like a little kid at Christmas . I have a question about the "Devil or Demon Bolts". How many of them are removed from the top and how many from the bottom? I am also looking at the diagram in the manual, and it looks like there is a combinations of bolts, nuts and studs . Did you spray the bolts from the top or the bottom as well? I want to try and prepare mentally for the removal of these fasteners and try to anticipate all of the tools I will need as I will be using my tools, but a friends lift. It only took me an hour by myself to install the CBE, so I am hoping it is about the same for the cats. Lastly, are all of the old fasteners reused with the new CBE?

Jeeez, with all these questions, maybe I'll have my local Nissan Dealer do the installation .

Any help is appreciated.

Bump...still looking for information on the demon bolts. If anyone has a photo of the old cat so I can see the fasteners, it would be appreciated. Really, all I need to know is what kind of fasteners are used and how many: bolts and nuts, studs and nut or whatever combinations there are.

Also, I called the my Nissan dealer and he said that they are not allowed to install the cats, because of any possible warranty issues that may arise in the future, especially when it comes to the EPA and the Feds.

There are three on each cat. Two bolts and a stud. The one that gives most trouble is the top one that is accessible from above. PB Blaster is the preferred loosening agent. But you still may have trouble. Just douse all three once a day for a few days.

My passenger side came out without a problem. Not so much for the driver side.

Thanks Dembflyr, that's exactly the information I was looking for. I guess that I'll have to pack the rotary tool into the "bag of tricks" on Friday when I attempt the install. I think tonight I will spray the bolts with PB Blaster and then light a candle for good luck.

Anyone lowered on a Berk CBE? If so, how many inches front/rear, and any problems with it bottoming out / scraping speedbumps?

There's a section of piping before that seems to sit so low on this thing..

I just ordered my Berk CBE. Should be here on Friday March 8, 2013. Really excited and can't wait to receive it. I did not go with the HFC's as I live in a really quiet neighborhood. I also want to see what it's like w/o the HFC's first. All the videos and sound clips about this exhaust look and sound fantastic. This is why I went with the Berk. I spent the last three/four weeks researching all CBE's for the Z. I had it narrowed down to the Tanabe and Berk and eventually decided on the Berk.

I see from reading this tread early on Berk had some fitment issues with some Z's. I would assume Berk has worked this issue out by now. Now that it has been a few years since they originally came out, I was wondering if anyone has installed this system recently and what their thoughts/comments are. My daughters boyfriend is a mechanic and will be installing the Berk CBE this coming weekend, Saturday March 9, 2013.

Can't wait!!
