Have you tried talking to Stillen and providing pics for them to analyze what might of gone wrong? Either from a bad install or incorrect parts?

Cyberium 05-21-2010 01:04 AM

On the bright side... if someone rear-ends you, you'll exhaust will take the brunt of the damage =)

azn370z 05-21-2010 01:10 AM

I think that's how much the stillens tips stick out. It's pretty hard to install a cbe the wrong way. Which shop did the install?

Josh@STILLEN 05-21-2010 01:12 AM

It's just an alignment issue due to the installation. The exhaust can be adjusted (ultimate reason is unfortunately each 370Z is a little different, and we provide adjustment abilities in the exhaust to compensate), but the exhaust is not designed to have the tips protruding anywhere near that amount.

Please feel free to give customer service a call at (800) 891-1058 for additional information you can provide your installer.

I'd hope that anyone reading this would always contact the manufacturer before making drastic steps such as cutting a bolt-in cat-back exhaust.. that being said, shops aren't always the first ones to call and check with the owner before making such drastic decisions.

Hoping this turns out for the best.. as you can see from another post there are a bunch of very happy people who have installed this exhaust, I hope we can determine the issue quickly and get it resolved..

i forgot the name of the shop .. it is on highway 99 in lynnwood ...which body shop you usually go for??

azn370z 05-21-2010 02:04 AM

An exhaust is pretty easy to install so any shop can do the job. I installed mine myself but if i need work done I would take it to speedware but there are cheaper shops. I live near 99, around mukilteo.

Diocletian 05-21-2010 07:26 AM

Hah they look like a flowmaster kit that would be installed on a truck. That's AFTER you cut the exhaust(I can't believe you did that)!?

RCZ 05-21-2010 08:25 AM

Its probably a simple matter of going further into the slip joints.. should've been an easy fix without cutting..

:iagree:....Definitely an installer error. Slip joints allow for plenty of in and out without cutting...(it's hard to find good help these days. This should have been a no-brainer)

i've got a better idea. you've already forgotten the name of the shop, now forget about going back there ever again. if they can't handle a simple install like this without butchering it, god help you when they get to more...difficult installations.

Kastley85891 05-21-2010 01:02 PM

Blind and stupid ones perhaps

jacky822 05-21-2010 01:49 PM

Is there any way fixing it without cutting ?

JB-370z 05-21-2010 01:52 PM

heat up the brackets with a torch and bend them in the direction that move the muffler back some.

kenchan 05-21-2010 01:55 PM

wow... this is one reason why i do my own installs...

There is no reason this should have been cut at all.. this is an installation error.

The slip joints allow for flexibility, and should be loosened and adjusted to bring the tips in.

jacky822 05-21-2010 02:13 PM

Then the muffler shop should ******* kill themselves.

You've got to be kidding me. Totally unnecessary.

Diocletian 05-22-2010 11:26 AM

Let's hope this shop doesn't decide to get into hair cutting.

Customer: "Hey guys my hair is too long please cut it!"

"ok we'll fix it lol"

*cuts off customers' head*

Dan37TZ 05-22-2010 11:40 AM

I read somewhere once you tighten down those slip clamps, it basically makes a lock between the outter and inner pipes (bends the pipe). Making it near impossible to adjust? Anybody?

Or ramp it and do it yer self, save the $$ for more mods, if you where in ATX, I would have done it for **** all, I love car time.

Csquared 05-23-2010 08:40 PM

Ummm, could it be possible they shipped you a G37 exahaust? I know when the 370z first came out some Japanese tuner mag just got a g37 exhaust and it was too long so they just cut it down?

The BlueMax 05-23-2010 09:41 PM

Since I got a good deal on my Gemini I took it over to a private exhaust guy, he said he had to work on the drivers side to get it aligned. Does anybody think 150 cash was too much to pay?
