New version of the AAM Exhaust....

Has anyone heard this setup yet? I was really digging the sound of the old setup with the high flow cats...but liked the look of other exhausts. Now the new AAM design is hot as hell, and if sounds as good or better than the old setup....:postwhore::postwhore:

I'm hoping the new design isn't more tame......

tooohip 05-18-2010 06:09 PM

Na but I want it!

m4a1mustang 05-18-2010 06:34 PM

Whatever Jon has on his car I really like... it's got a really cool growl in the cockpit.

I think Lou has one of the new designs and IIRC he was trying to swap it out for Fast Intentions.

tooohip 05-18-2010 06:43 PM

Lou would have the 3" for his TT.

Don't Jon and Lance have the same setup?

My guess is you just have a heavier foot!

zZSportZz 05-18-2010 09:01 PM

Also, I ran my baselines on their dyno...if I go with their setup we can get some real independent dyno numbers.

Well, that's a given! ;-)

FuszNissan 05-19-2010 11:38 AM

I have the new version. It's 2.5", I wanted more low end power, and tq.

It sounds great, but not as aggressive as the F.I. for some reason. Which F.I. is 2.5" all the way through as well.

Jon@AAMComp 05-19-2010 12:05 PM

Here you go zZ; we have a sound clip of the 2.5" Exhaust on our Vimeo page. It sounds about the same as the original version, just a bit quieter, imo.

Edit: This site doesn't support Vimeo?? :shakes head: Either that or I phail at posting.

Anyway, here's the direct link:

Is that with the stock cats? Also, that was a quick answer to my question! Thanks! :)

No problem. Yes, this video was taken with a car equipped with our 2.5" High Flow Cats.

ZCarMan 05-19-2010 06:55 PM

I have more of a low end growl now with the new AAM Intakes!

FuszNissan 05-19-2010 08:42 PM

Do you have pics of the intakes?
Are they like Injen's or more like Stillen's?

Black370ZTT 05-19-2010 09:00 PM

feel a difference?

I have only had it since today as AAM was doing some tweaking on it as this is their first set of intakes for production. I only had it in rush hour traffic on the way home so I haven't had a chance to really see what difference there is. At low rpms it does feel like there is some added power but how much I don't know. I do believe the next step will be to get me an Accessport and then custom dyno tune in the future. I leave for ZDayZ tomorrow and I'll have a better chance to get a feel for the difference. I'll post up what I find.

More like Stillen Gen 3s but AAMs are single long tube vice the two Stillen uses.

m4a1mustang 05-19-2010 09:12 PM

They look hella nice!

This is Corrected! Baseline vs Cat Back Exhaust ONLY! 20 HP gain at 5500 RPM

Other parts comparo to come!

FuszNissan 05-25-2010 05:24 PM

Damn those intakes look nice. One solid piece. Mine are like welded in 3 different areas:shakes head:

kevr6 05-25-2010 05:35 PM

I have a video of the new exhaust and it sounded too quiet for my tastes. I liked the way the original exhaust sounded better. I almost pulled the trigger but was unsure after getting the video from AAM. Can someone else make a good video with HFC and intakes???

NCSUPACK09 05-25-2010 06:17 PM

Rob,

When you can, please post the dyno run for your new CAI vs. stock. I am interested to see how it stacks up against some of the other CAIs on the market

I noticed that too at zdays...:confused:

ZCarMan 05-25-2010 06:56 PM

Having been able to get this Z out on the highway, the Dragon, and Cherhola at ZDayZ, I can say that there is a noticeable increase in power above 5000 RPM and I was told at AAM that this is where I'd notice it. I'm satisfied with the results and can't wait for the Access Port with a dyno tune later this summer! :)

FuszNissan 05-25-2010 07:01 PM

Maybe AAM would be kind enough to send me new one piece intakes for my long wait....:stirthepot:

zZSportZz 05-25-2010 09:03 PM

Does anyone on this board have the F.I. Exhaust with straight X pipe and high flow cats? I'm looking for loud and obnoxious...but awesome sounding.

Rob@AAMComp 05-26-2010 08:15 AM

We are working on that as we speak!

I'll make a set with 3 welds on it and make good power so Lou would be happier! :rofl2:

I know Lou. Many apologies as we are still working on the final version.

Let me talk to my fabricators about your multi piece pipes to see what our options are for you!

I'll do that after several drinks, then when they ask where I'm coming from, I'll just point to my shirt! :ughdance:
