plenum spacer/ t.b. spacer

yes i know this has been brought up many times. and nobody makes them for our car, so i am going to make a lower to upper plenum spacer plus throttle body spacers.i plan on doing dynoed resluts before and after. maybe i am waisting my time but i think somebody needs to try.dont hate...

I swear I just heard someone say they were making this for the 370Z.... Let me 'retrace' my conversations and see if I can remember who I was talking to...

Zsteve 05-01-2010 05:53 PM

I think the reason no one has made one is cuz its already been done at the factory. Ours is already spaced. I dont think it will do any good like it did on the 350Z, as Nissan made it bigger to begin with.

Z1Performance 05-02-2010 08:56 AM

exactly - it doesn't exist because the very design makes it useless. The 03-06 DE's had a sloped intake manifold with a single throttle body entry. The spacer evened out the airflow distribution from the front to rear cylinders. This was addressed from the factory with the introduction of the HR in 2007 (and carried forward to the 370Z/G37)

jnaut 05-03-2010 09:53 PM

ok, so i ordered in the material i am going to make them with, should be done in a couple weeks then off to the dyno...

Zsteve 05-03-2010 11:07 PM

you are still gonna make them when you know its already been taken care of? The throttle bodies might but the plenum wont get you anything I dont think, other wise they would have been out by now. Trust us all these things have been thought about by performance coompanies. But it will be an interesting build to see. good luck.

doesnt hurt to try if hes got the time and money i guess why not.

jnaut 05-04-2010 02:17 PM

yes i am still going to make them and yes it might be a bust, but i am into it for minimal money and a little time. who knows just might show a gain???

Ill be curious to see the final results, post some pics and all.

Kastley85891 05-05-2010 01:07 AM

Good for you for self innovation - in for pics a write up, good or bad or what ever

semtex 05-05-2010 10:29 AM

Props for experimentation. In for the results.

jnaut 05-11-2010 06:41 PM

the material came in , now try to fab a template of the plenum and throttle bodies. kinda tough sicne everything is sealed with rubber o-rings.

Kastley85891 05-11-2010 07:11 PM

Nice man, keep the updates coming... Ill test em for ya ;-)

Really glad you're doing this! Props for sure! Will be good to find out once and for all how the new 3.7 responds to this mod.

jnaut 05-12-2010 08:21 PM

thanks for the postive reinforcement!!

cmouton 05-12-2010 09:19 PM

Definitely, man. The people who don't try are those that'll never move forward. If it's a failure, we'll all know once and for all. If it makes power, then you've done us all a service. Good luck.

Seether13 10-08-2010 07:54 AM

Old thread, but any update?

jnaut 10-08-2010 11:45 AM

lol, not yet as i have lots of work inthe shop. I am also trying to work on the rear mounted turbo... just not enough time in the day.

Motordyne has released their M370 upper manifold the 370Z and are having good gains with it :)

ninous26 10-19-2010 04:35 PM

Kinda, but not really.

Can we keep the shameless plugs out of informative threads?

jnaut 08-20-2011 09:09 AM

ok ok...long over due, but the plenum spacer and throttle body spacer are made. It looks very good overall. It was difficult being that I am utilizing factory nissan oring gaskets. I do this so if a replacement gasket is needed , its no harder than going down to your dealership. I will be on the dyno this week. I am using a 100% stock vehicle, going to be doing 3 pulls for an average on with and without spacers. No i will not be using a modded car as there is just to many options. I dont wanna post up pics until after the dyno testing.

ZPhycho 08-20-2011 09:26 AM

Sweet, Good luck hope you show some gains!

NYBladeZ 08-20-2011 09:42 AM

Good luck, as always appreciate trying things that haven't been done on the z34 before.

RCZ 08-20-2011 09:46 AM

I have seen and held these spacers, they are pretty awesome!

370Z JT 08-20-2011 12:38 PM

Nice! In for dyno!

V8Killer 08-20-2011 01:53 PM

Nice man looking forward to hearing the results. Price on producing this product for others?

kosstick 08-20-2011 02:49 PM

Glokwork 08-20-2011 03:37 PM

Awesome cant wait for the results! Props to you jnaut for putting in all the time and work.

G37sHKS 08-20-2011 05:21 PM

Nice!!!!

Are they going for production or its just one of item?

Z eliminator 08-20-2011 05:37 PM

i will be running the N/A set up at the track for at lesat a nother month.
may get me into the 12.3's

Z

08-22-2011 12:53 PM

any Luck?

Methodical4u 08-29-2011 02:15 AM

I was just researching this and wondering about it. Awesome that you're doing it... reps for that!

V8Killer 09-01-2011 04:21 PM

Bump for update

tranceformer 09-01-2011 07:28 PM

If I use (2) spacers will it double the hp gain versus just using (1) spacer?

How much will this improve my 1/4 mile ET and trap speed?

birdmanx1 09-01-2011 07:55 PM

subscribed for updates.

kosstick 09-02-2011 11:27 AM

dnasty370z 09-02-2011 05:26 PM
