plenum spacer/ t.b. spacer

yes i know this has been brought up many times. and nobody makes them for our car, so i am going to make a lower to upper plenum spacer plus throttle body spacers.i plan on doing dynoed resluts before and after. maybe i am waisting my time but i think somebody needs to try.dont hate...

I swear I just heard someone say they were making this for the 370Z.... Let me 'retrace' my conversations and see if I can remember who I was talking to...

Zsteve 05-01-2010 05:53 PM

I think the reason no one has made one is cuz its already been done at the factory. Ours is already spaced. I dont think it will do any good like it did on the 350Z, as Nissan made it bigger to begin with.

Z1Performance 05-02-2010 08:56 AM

exactly - it doesn't exist because the very design makes it useless. The 03-06 DE's had a sloped intake manifold with a single throttle body entry. The spacer evened out the airflow distribution from the front to rear cylinders. This was addressed from the factory with the introduction of the HR in 2007 (and carried forward to the 370Z/G37)

ok, so i ordered in the material i am going to make them with, should be done in a couple weeks then off to the dyno...

Zsteve 05-03-2010 11:07 PM

you are still gonna make them when you know its already been taken care of? The throttle bodies might but the plenum wont get you anything I dont think, other wise they would have been out by now. Trust us all these things have been thought about by performance coompanies. But it will be an interesting build to see. good luck.

yes i am still going to make them and yes it might be a bust, but i am into it for minimal money and a little time. who knows just might show a gain???

Good for you for self innovation - in for pics a write up, good or bad or what ever

semtex 05-05-2010 10:29 AM

Props for experimentation. In for the results.

jnaut 05-11-2010 06:41 PM

the material came in , now try to fab a template of the plenum and throttle bodies. kinda tough sicne everything is sealed with rubber o-rings.

Kastley85891 05-11-2010 07:11 PM

Nice man, keep the updates coming... Ill test em for ya ;-)

Really glad you're doing this! Props for sure! Will be good to find out once and for all how the new 3.7 responds to this mod.
