I would love to make my exhaust sound a bit louder too and don't really need power gain since 332hp is enough for me.

BTW - where do I get those spacers ? sorry I just wanna make sure I buy the right parts !!

Hey no problem! I'm in the exact same page as you. The Z from the factory is pretty nice :)! This mod really does make it sound great! It's deep, it burbles when you shift, and it dribbles once you pass 3k rpm. For my taste, it can be louder! :D
Ahh just go to NAPA auto parts tell them to check out the bolt @ the muffler and ask them what size washer would fit there. Get the best quaity if you can :)

As of the risk of running this in the long run.. I am not sure. So do this at your own risk. However, I can tell you I am 0% worried about it. Fumes are not a big deal. (some of the exhaust still goes through the muffler. The higher your RPM the more the exhaust flows through the muffler.)

They are just washers. No damage will be done

First of all, great post, the sound is awesome and it's basically something I would consider doing myself

However:

what if water or dirt gets in the gap and builds up in the pipe?

Just wondering, what made you decide on 4 washers instead of 2? Would it sound any different?

I was wondering this too, most likely the gases have enough pressure to keep most things out, but I'm worried about a little mud getting in there with the rainy season coming up...

^Check on it every now and then. Rev it every now and then XD
I honestly am not concerned because the gap is little.

@alphaqb: I got this idea from ddharon. Since he used 4 washers, I used 4 washers :D, but you can experiment and see if 2 washers will sound any different. I would say that would be quieter since the gap will be smaller and the exhaust will flow through the muffler more.

Thanks, I'm gonna try it with 2 this weekend!

Not worth the bother. Much better CBEs out there if you're looking for real gains.

MichaelM: The Nismo exhaust is a waste of money.

Why is everyone flamming the OP about how he got the car? His thread is about a cheap tweak to MOD on a budget. It doesn't matter if a parent bought the Z for you, or you bought it with your own money, hell you could have collected pennies off the street, but in the end we have all ended up with the same amazing car.

OP, nice find, I have read about deleting which would leave the car with nothing out the back, but this is a nice stealth way of doing that while still maintaining the stock look. Thanks for posting! I will definitely mention this to friends who are in the same boat as you!

Where do you see the OP getting flamed for how he got the car?

They call Carbon Monoxide the "silent killer"

Just did mine..Sounds great! I used three 7/16 washers. This will hold me over till I decide on the exhuast to get.
