Post MAF tubes DIY???

I goggled a DIY for installation of Z1 post MAF tubes or for any other post MAF tubes and couldn't find anything?

I get mine in the mail tomorrow. What does the install consist of?

Remove strut bar-
Undo the clamps.
Add the tubes.
Re-Clamp the clamps...

Pretty easy.

Don't forget to use some silicone lube... won't be able to fit them on without it.

Where would one pick up silicone lube? Home Depot or auto parts store?

And wouldn't excess silicone lube potentially get into the intake duct and get sucked into the engine after the air filters?

Wipe the excess off with a rag. Home depot is where I picked some up.

if so it would get burned up, so no biggie. better than before the maf's and getting stuff to those and trashing them

+1. It doesn't take much to do the trick. Use your finger to carefully apply a thin film to hose and nipple and you may not need the rag.

Most hardware stores and electrical supply outfits will have silicone lube/grease. I've seen it in "ketchup packs" that should be more than enough for your project. IIRC, "bulb grease" for keeping moisture out of lamp sockets is silicone, but check the label.

You don't need grease if you get the Z1 tubes. I performed the installation myself. The key was removing the engine bay stabilizer bar, pulling the airbox up a bit, fitting everything together and pushing it back down into position. With some thought and patience everything should fit without grease or cutting. I can't say the same for other brands tho.

I bought the HPS tube and am trying to install them, the directions say to remove the air inlet tube and air horn in radiator support.. Not sure what that is. Does anybody have pics or can guide me in the right direction...

Is there a DIY with pics? I looked but couldn't find one. I watched some videos but they weren't the Z1 and I'm not sure how the metal pieces work. None of the other manufactures had the metal bits and they just fit over the stock pieces. I'm planning to install mine tomorrow.

What metal bits? The PCV breather hose connection? Just look at the stock intakes. You'll have to remove the breather hose from a similar nipple on the stock tubes and then install it on the new tubes. It's very straight-forward so don't overthink it.

Like I said... those are the PCV breather hose connections. Take 20 seconds and go look at your stock intakes. You'll figure it out.
