very true, i'll be happy if it performs as well as the stillen intake.

I hope they test it on Nismo models. The front bumper/air guides and tuning are a little different.

Nah smart business is to sell a separate dedicated part for the nismo that doesn't cost anymore to produce than the regular intake and sell it at nearly double the price to gain profitability from the low volume of sales of the nismo. You'll buy it anyway

Edit: Oh and all joking aside i hope it's a total failure and makes way less horsepower than the stillen so i won't feel bad that i own one

So far there isn't an intake out there that won't fit the Nismo. The Stillen and Injen work fine.

Are you sure? You know, I can't think of why the Stillen wouldn't fit. Yet, if you go to Stillen's site, they actually state that it won't fit the Nismo.

Check it out (look down under the Description column):
STILLEN : STILLEN Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit

The Gen III does "fit," but requires some extra cutting of some plate on the Nismo to route the filters around I believe. A couple of people on the boards with Nismo models have done it, but Stillen has personally not done it so they do not want to recommend directly.

I spoke with someone at Stillen about this. Because it is slightly different they just err on the side of caution. It will fit, guaranteed, with little to no difference between the non-Nismo version.

You can see the right vertical plastic diffuser here. In front of the bumper, so pretty much out of the way.

You can see the black horizontal metal pieces here that line up with the top of the bumper. Worst case I've heard that these may need to be notched a bit.

No no no you see it doesn't matter if the regular intake will fit or not. If the box says "DESIGNED FOR THE NISMO EDITION" It's going to sell even if they charge $900. You say "but wait thats stupid, no one would do that i wouldn't buy it for that much" OOOooohh but people will and so what if you don't buy it you'll just end up buying the regular version so either way they sell you an intake, and they make a killing off of uninformed NISMO fanboys <---smart buisness

EDIT: proof = people buy the nismo exhaust for almost 2 g's when it makes less than a fourth of the power of similar 1500 catbacks

My point is a simple one.

If you are in the design phase why not make one that fits every model. It's just simple logic. AEM makes good intakes (one I'd consider buying) and if they make one that doesn't require cutting the longer air guides that direct air to the cooling parts then +1 for me, other NISMO owners and people who are upgrading to the NISMO front end.

If the above was directed at me maybe you should click on the intro post on my signature and come back and tell me I'm a NISMO fan-boy who doesn't know anything....

Actually, people bought the Nismo exhaust because it was covered under warranty and added some power/sound.

Ya, I don't want to turn this into the sound deadening thread lol. I emailed a link to this thread to someone I know at AEM and volunteered my car if they want to look at a NISMO. I haven't heard back but we'll see what happens.

Not to get too OT but after getting a baseline dyno done on my car, then doing a back to back with the HKS Hi-Power exhaust I have some respect for the NISMO exhaust. It was pretty close.

1slow370 02-20-2010 05:33 PM

no it wasn't directed at you. I'm just saying they do exist and 400 extra dollars for something that says nismo is nothing to them. You kind of have to take it as a satirical insight into the world of capitalism and big business preying on the ignorant and willing to spend it isn't directly aimed at anyone.

1slow370 02-20-2010 05:35 PM

the s-tune is different from the version that comes on the nismo and it sells for a bundle
