Nobody has anything to add here, Fast Intentions or otherwise?

I just saw what you wrote above. I will comment shortly. If not tonight than tomorrow...

Thanks, Tony

Anyway if you guys can bear with me, there seems to be some holes in this thread... or maybe it's my brain :tiphat: So I want to recap/ summarize.
It seems you can get similar numbers with the OEM header-manifolds, what ever they are considered and no cat's these headers off a much broader power band right?
On the same token it seems with the headers, if I read all of this correctly, a new intake doesn't add a whole lot of power right? I didn't see anyone say they changed their intakes after they put on the headers, looks like everyone is either still using the OEM intake or they already had an aftermarket. Do you guys still think it would be worth swapping, You would still get better throttle response, etc right? It seems the Stillen G3 causes the car to run a little lean with these headers? Otherwise the Injen intake seems to perform about the same right, and I suspect would help with the air/ fuel ratio? Or given the minimal gains is it not really even worth getting an intake like that, would I be better off with a more OEM/ shorter style (not sure of a specific one right now?) if it did not come at the expense of performance the lower cost would certainly be nice but more importantly they are much easier to install and service right, besides being better protected from water and other road debris? I don't even like the idea of having to pull my bumper off once just to install them, every time to change filters just seems crazy.

Additionally, can somebody (Tony?) send me the install instructions for these headers and I assume there are some for the exhaust as well?

Ok~. first of all it was quite hard to understand what you were getting at but from my brief summary questions really boil down to,
Quote:

1. Is tune necessary with LHT+CAI?
From what i gather, tune is necessary for Stillen CAI + full exhaust mod. People reported running quite lean with full exhaust mod + Stillen CAI. I'm not too sure about Injen though. But generally, in order to get the most out of your system, you'd need a tune.
Quote:

2. Is CAI worth the money with exhaust upgrades?
IMO, no. 370z comes with CAI..well it's functionally Cold air intake that has filter inside the engine bay. With after-market CAI, you'll be most likely achieving minimal gains with full exhaust mod at the top range of the RPM.
It really depends on how much is that extra hp worth to you.
Quote:

3. Should I just get SRI?
No, just keep the stock one. Stock one is efficient until the top range of RPM.

sinceday1 12-04-2010 09:48 PM

BTW, I need that S/C update with LTH before i sink my teeth into this beauty!

crash1369 12-04-2010 11:23 PM

Thanks guys, Tony looking forward to your response.

I am mainly wondering if I should still expect the same improvements in throttle response and stuff you would see with a CAI and no exhaust modifications? It seems the headers free up just about all your pent up horse power, but horse power alone isn't the only factor.

I won't be doing anything to my car during the winter so I have until summer to research these things so I am trying to figure out where all my money is gonna end up :rofl2:  :ughdance:

Finally got my car tuned this week and thought I would post what I found.
I took the car to UpRev and did a few pulls with just the LTH and Fast Intentions TDX non-resonated. It produced 301hp/246tq and the air/fuel ratio was perfect no need for a tune. Jared (the tuner) was impressed with the computers ability to adjust for the higher exhaust flow. Then we put on the Stillen G3 and did a few pulls. It produced 310hp/251tq before the tune but, the air/fuel was way out. Then he tuned it and it still produced 310hp/252tq but corrected the air/fuel ratio. So basically I picked up 9hp with the Stillen G3 ($550) and a tune ($450). Unless your willing to pay about $1000 for 10hp its not worth it.

Did your tuner not touch your ignition timing tables?

How'd the overall power change? Do you have overlaid graphs?

If this was on a dynojet and you have access to the drf's, PM me. I can make whatever graphs you want.

pg6speed 12-05-2010 05:39 PM

Yea UpRev uses a Dynojet. Their printer was not working (go figure) so they're supposed to email me the data. When they do I'll post them with some video. He did adjust the timing alittle as for the power I only picked up 9hp from when I drove in there so I don't really feel a big difference but, it does seem to run a bit smoother and the tone of the exhaust has changed a bit.

crash1369 12-05-2010 06:26 PM

Can you feel a difference in throttle response, etc, since you added the intake? Does it rev up quicker or anything, or does it feel basically the same as it did with just the headers?

I am thinking of getting rid of the LTH, I got pulled over by a cop and have a week to put the stock cats back on -_-.

I wonder how much people would give for my LTH.

I guess I could buy HFC instead, how much do I love in terms of POWEEEEEEEER and noise.
