Default OEM Nismo gasket clarification.

Before I do an install on a take-off, I'm trying to refresh on hardware since my car has 33k miles on it.

I'm kinda thrown off by the 300ZX comment on this product page, so just to make sure: these should work for both between the Y-Pipe and cats, AND between the mid pipe and muffler on our cars, right?
https://www.z1motorsports.com/exhaus...ket-p-622.html

So I'd be looking to get 4 of those, and then 2 that are dedicated for use between the Y-pipe and mid pipe?

If this is the first time you have taken your exhaust off your going to want to spray the nuts with break free or PB blaster and let it soak. The use a 6 point socket on the nuts. I started with a 12 point socket and rounded a few off.

Does your new exhaust not come with new gaskets and hardware? When I bought a used Fast Intentions exhaust, I called them up to order a new hardware kit (includes all nuts, bolts and gaskets) for it. Then when I bought a new one from them, it came with a new hardware kit as well.

FWIW, even with PB Blaster and hand tools I broke the first 3 bolts I attempted to remove the first time I removed my exhaust around 30K miles. I'd recommend having replacement hardware on hand if you don't already.

The gaskets you link go between the cats and the y-pipe. There is a separate single gasket you need for the y-pipe to the mid-pipe (here).

There are two more gaskets from the mid-pipe to the muffler. I would call Z1 to verify (I think they open in ~30 min), but my guess is you were right that you need 4 of those first gaskets - 2 between cats and y-pipe and 2 between mid-pipe and muffler.

.

It's a take off from a Nismo owner, so I figure it's a safe bet to source fresh sets. Would be pursuing hardware for the same reason/situation you cited, although from what I understand that's basically just a trip to the hardware store? I believe there's a complete OEM kit but no one seems to sell it.

*Called Z1, and they confirmed my guess on the gaskets. Thanks for the input everyone.

Ahh... Nismo exhaust makes more sense now Yes, trip to the hardware store for nuts and bolts. Super cheap You could probably get an OEM kit from a dealer but I'm guessing it's overpriced.
