IcebergG 11-28-2009 05:03 PM

The quality looks great

G Fo12ce 11-28-2009 05:48 PM

Looks good. HKS fit and finish.

kevr6 11-28-2009 06:50 PM

Very nice!!

m4a1mustang 11-28-2009 06:56 PM

Looks good. I wonder if it's good for anything besides looks or if it's like all of the other short-rams out there.

LiquidZ 11-28-2009 09:01 PM

I really think this kit looks amazing.

SOLISIMO 11-29-2009 06:00 AM

Some blue radiator hoses would accent that intake very well! Looks great

AK370Z 11-29-2009 06:04 AM

Not a big fan of short ram intakes but HKS=. Looks great

I know the intake connectors or what ever you call them look blue but, they are actully HKS's purple color. Also I am not into the matching colorized engine bay parts. It is for some but not for me. The intake looks much better in person and sounds great too. I can feel better throtle response and a little bit more of a pull in the mid range.:driving:

Damn they look blue:rofl2: then get the red hoses if your not into matching:bowrofl:

I bet they are loud as hell:yum:

JB-370z 11-29-2009 10:07 AM

Not loud as hell but much louder than my friends CAI. It gives the car a more thoaty sound. It sounds more exotic if you as my buddies that installed it.(I drank the beer while they installed : ) ) I made sure all the HKS symbols and clamps were perfectly aligned: )

PS: (SOLISIMO) And no I am not into matching colors!!! Just like everything to be very clean.

SOLISIMO 11-29-2009 10:11 AM

I would too, show what you got! :)

RedComet 11-30-2009 05:58 AM

Looks really good!

MYZ34 11-30-2009 06:14 AM

any dyno results for this CAI yet? sorry if this has been asked already

Rob@Altered 11-30-2009 09:48 AM

Looking good. Those pictures came out pretty nice.

This technically isn't a CAI. I agree with everyone that it looks good though!

JB-370z 11-30-2009 11:09 AM

No it is not a CAI its a short ram air! I said it is louder than my friends Stillen CAI, not that it is a CAI. My friends are in love with it, but one of them is a HKS freak, he is in love with that company. The pictures were taken with my i-phone so they are not that good. They are heavy duty what ever they are made of and there is no clear coat on them so polishing them is a sinch. I thought the metal cage around the filter would bend easy but I was worng! The metal cage is heavy duty too, I would literaly have to stand on them and jump up and down to bend them. Super high end Q if you ask me. My Injen ram air for the RSX-S was a kiddie toy compared to the Q of the HKS. Worth the cash in my opp.

TonyBPD 11-30-2009 12:36 PM

$500 plus for this piece correct?

TipsZ 11-30-2009 12:44 PM

Damn it .. my job blocks the website the pics are hosted on .. grrr .. guess I gotta wait till I get home to view.

You are correct..Add 149.00 to that and you got the price (they did give free shipping and got from Cali to Tx in 2 days). Im sure they will get cheaper. I love HKS and a little extra cash to get what I want is not a big deal to me. I bought it as an Thanksgiving gift to myself :happydance: My wife says that buying a gift for myself for t-day was very un-thanks-giving like :p My car is very thankfull for HKS. :driving:

ArtVandaleigh 12-02-2009 09:59 AM

This kit does look great, I'd love to see some numbers.

Liquid_G 12-02-2009 10:57 AM

Not trying to start ****, these do look cool as hell.. But is it just me or does it look like these sit almost behind the radiator, sucking in hot air?

That's how it looks to me as well. They don't even appear to have heat shields like the JWT Popchargers at least have.

Are you saying you paid $649 for this?? Wow. You must really like HKS...

Foam filters are IMO = Fail.

JB-370z 12-02-2009 04:31 PM

Well I guess im Fail and FTL then.

m4a1mustang 12-02-2009 05:47 PM

If it's what you want, that's fine. I know a lot of people on in the import scene rave about HKS and would choose it over other products that make more power... that's fine.

But like I said before, I think it's going to be like every short-ram available already. I think we've had enough testing here to prove that the only way to gain power by replacing the stock intake tubes is to go with a CAI... and even then the only real gains are top end where the factory intake drops off.

The factory unit is very efficient and does a good job of sourcing air from outside of the engine bay. It's only downside is that it doesn't make any cool noise. :)

SOLISIMO 12-02-2009 06:53 PM

Hks doesnt just charge alot bc they want too, alot of research and dev. goes into their parts, Im sure they make some nice power!

m4a1mustang 12-02-2009 07:12 PM

HKS has a solid marketing arm.

1slow370 12-03-2009 03:25 AM

They may say HKS but that is mos def FTL in ricish. But then again ricers rate a part on looks before power (don't get me wrong that IS the most visually appealing kit out which it just isn't my game).

ALL good businesses charge exactly the highest amount they can without losing more sales than they displace with the extra profits. If they could charge more they would in a second. All their, R&D, and legal work, and most importantly advertising, is eventually passed on to the end consumer so companies that advertise more like HKS always charge more. Look at ALDI's they don't run sales, they don't advertise, hell they don't even have shelves, but everthing at an aldi's is dirt cheap even though it is regular quality brand new food just like at your local grocery store. If HKS didn't have fan-boys they would be hard pressed selling half what they do.

I think some of you just like to argue, you bash the HKS intake whos been in business for years and is a major tuner in japan (ask the supras) yet some are in defense of the Volk replicas who god knows where they are built. Makes no sense:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Is HKS expensive, sure they are, but theyve earned the right to be as you know your getting a quality part

SOLISIMO 12-03-2009 05:48 AM

And to the OP, enjoy the intakes, you know you got a quality part...

RedComet 12-03-2009 06:55 AM

The whole "HKS fanboy" statement is totally false and rather rude if you ask me. Granted, HKS intakes on the Z34 don't make really make power but we're talking about one part coming from a company that is known to make cars blistering fast around the track and have the times to prove it. Their work on the Evolutions of past and present or any other Japanese car for that matter is nothing short of amazing. The FQ400 even comes standard with HKS parts from the factory. They have the fasted Evo X in Japan currently.

If we want to go the fanboy route the same can be said about anybody who likes to load up on parts from one company because they trust them. There are people here who would use Stillen parts to the end of time, are they considered fanboys or people who like the parts they like? I say they're sticking with a brand they know to provide them with reliable parts. Knock HKS on their intakes for the Z34 because honestly they're not putting out the power that HKS is capable of making but to say that if they didn't have fanboys they would be hard pressed to sell anything is just insane.

Liquid_G 12-03-2009 09:37 AM

JB or anyone here.. does HKS say there are any power gains with this? and did you have any plans to get your car on a dyno?

This is an educated way to look at this.

Lol, that has nothing to do with that outrageous price for an intake. I wouldn't drop $649 for a short ram that's been proven to FAIL time and time again by other companies for the 370. Give me the stillen G3 intakes. Proven power. Proven quality. Polished is enough bling for me.

I can agree with that statement.

By the way, fastest Evo 10? Does it trap high in the 1/4? Quick around the track? What is it fast at?

Hahaha lots of haterz in here.:icon17: If you don't like it sorry I could not please you all with the pics I took time posting. :tiphat: I like what I bought and im not hurting for money nor am I worried about a couple HP gains from an intake. I bought it cause it looks nice and sounds good and if I get a couple of HP out of it than what ev. After 30,000 miles I will retire the car to the garage and be selling the intake and going turbo:driving:, at that point I will worry about HP gains by the masses. People are quick to make this fourm an unleasant place.

I knew I should have said something to you initially about the intake. It does look good and I'm glad you like it. You bought it for your reasons and I am not bashing you at all for your decision. I was simply stating something to someone else about their comment. Unfortunately this was in your thread and I apologize for that.
