What do we know about the z1 lower intake manifold?

Haven't been able to find much info on this piece from Z1. Has anyone installed it yet or dynoed a z with this part installed? I was just wondering what is the communities opinion on this piece? Is it worth the money? I'm certainly not trying to call Z1 into question in any way with this thread. I have a lot of respect for them and buy most of my parts from them since there a hour and a half drive from my house.

I think they just have added this part to their shop. I wonder what is the weight of this mani?

Is love it if we could get some info direct from Z1. I'm certainly interested.

Weight? It's a stock ported manifold. So you're only talking about grams. :rofl2:

Who cares what it weights. Long as it produces results. It's a stock manifold that's been worked on. So you know it's not going to weight more.

Yeah guess shipping to Russia from Georgia isn't cheap. I'm going to give Z1 a call today and see what they can tell me. Ill report back as soon as I have some more info.

:icon17: Thought you might be one of those looking for every oz. of weight savings for their car. Sorry. Don't know that you was trying to figure out shipping weight.

Mandingo 11-12-2015 10:44 AM

I really can't see this producing much power after installing other NA bolt-ons. Like 3 whp tops. I hope someone posts up a camparo dyno and proves me wrong though!

Mysilverz 11-13-2015 01:53 AM

So I called Z1 today and asked a few questions about this part. I was told I could expect a 3 to 6 WHP gain with a proper tune and supporting modifications which I already have. I asked if the increase was in any one part of the power band such as high or low rpm and they said they've seen the gains through out the rpm band. I think Im going to save up some money and order the Z1 power plenum and pair it with this ported lower intake manifold. If I go through with this ill make sure to do a before and after dyno. The way I see it if I can get a decent gain through out the power band for the total of $625 for both parts it will be money well spent.

Morfiy 11-13-2015 08:42 AM

3 to 6 WHP is not bad if we talking about lower plenum only. Then add upper and you'll get something around 10 WHP. Anyways, dyno will prove!

That's kind of what I'm thinking. I mean I spent 1300 for fast intentions exhaust and that's what 20whp? I spent $550 for the stillen gen 3 intake and that's what 15 WHP roughly. So I feel it's a good value if the performance is there.

Rusty 11-13-2015 11:47 AM

Remember. Once you do the cai, and cbe on this motor. The hp gains become smaller and more $$. So, how far do you what to chase it?

ANMVQ 11-13-2015 01:08 PM

WOW I wonder if they wait for us to start doing things. I've been running this for months, at least the price is right, the 3-6 WHP is about right, you will feel the car want to take off more up top. But seriously we've had this mod available for months :/.

Just don't buy breaks from them :/

Stillens are OVER priced get takedas.

Mysilverz 11-18-2015 01:33 PM

So I put a post about this on Z1's Facebook account and this was their response.
Z1 Motorsports, Inc. Brent,
Sorry for the slow reply as we missed your message. Most of the cars we have tested this on in house do have additional mods over the basic bolt-ons. We will be sure to update the post with relevant dyno information as soon as the next car hits our dyno with this mod.

Vnismo370z 11-20-2015 12:08 AM

any dynos or results from this?

Mysilverz 11-20-2015 09:18 AM

No not yet. After the holidays I may purchase both and do a before and after dyno at z1.

2013nismo 11-23-2015 08:11 AM

Im installing both of these, and getting my first dyno on december 17th. I already have bolt ons though. So won't help much.

Mysilverz 11-23-2015 01:00 PM

I disagree. I think it would be extremely helpful to see some real numbers. Besides who would buy this before a CAI or a CBE? Please post your results here and thank you for your impute.

2013nismo 11-23-2015 05:31 PM

Alright no problem, Ill be sure to have them posted the same day.

ANMVQ 11-24-2015 08:00 AM

5 Attachment(s)
Hers mine, Bolts ons( No headers-YET) Z1 upper plenum and ported lower, AWD Sedan.

Dyno and best 1/4 time, only been to track one time and made 3 runs.:tiphat:

Mysilverz 11-24-2015 03:05 PM

I sorry but I'm having a little trouble reading your dyno. I see that you gained power and torque through out the rpm band. How much of a gain though?

Mysilverz 11-24-2015 03:06 PM

Oh and thank you. The more dyno results we get the better. I would love to have all the information about this product compiled here for any future searches.

chuckie311 11-24-2015 03:29 PM

that is not a before and after dyno of just those parts..that is when he was tuned for ECUTEK with those parts.. so we cant say what those parts alone made

Mysilverz 12-28-2015 08:44 PM

So today I spoke with Russ at Z1 and placed my order for the z1 power plenum and ported lower intake manifold with a new gasket for the mating surface between the lower intake manifold and the cylinder head. The following Sunday after they come in I will install both and dyno my car at the same dyno I've used in the past so we the 370 community can get a rough idea of the gains with this mod. Now my car already has a fast intentions cat back exhaust and stillen gen 3 intake. I may have a set of fast intentions test pipes on by then as well. I'm trying to get all these bolt on on the car before my ecutek tune on the 18th. I'll keep everyone posted.

ANMVQ 12-29-2015 09:48 AM

Nice man but I'm guessing maybe 5 WHP, the power band may move a little earlier in the RPM's.

An yes for what Chuckie said, those were ECUTEK tune VS UPREV.

Any more updates on performance measurements before and after?

Mysilverz 01-12-2016 09:48 PM

So today I received an email from Z1 that my ported upper plenum and ported lower intake manifold shipped today and will be arriving tomorrow. I only live an hour and a half from Z1. Not this weekend but next weekend ill install everything, take pictures for a future DIY, and take her back to the dyno so that we will have a full story on these parts.

PharmDZ 01-12-2016 10:07 PM

Just switched from Motordyne M370 intake manifold, Injen Intakes to AAM Intakes, Z1 upper and lower intake manifold (plenty of other mods, nothing else changed though). Final numbers after tuning went from 331whp 269lb/ft to 337whp 268lb/ft. Supposedly lost a little mid-range with the bigger intake tubing? I dunno - car feels awesome, dyno graph definitely shows more power in the higher rev range, but the numbers were sort of disappointing. I'll post the graph sometime soon.

Mysilverz 01-12-2016 11:32 PM

I've been debating on keeping the stillen gen 3 or changing to the AAM intake. Yeah I've got the fast intentions CBE and stillen intake(dynoed @ 306whp) added fast intentions test pipes (dynoed 317whp). So now I'll add these parts and dyno after. This will all be followed by an ecutek tune. I'm not quite as worried about peak numbers, more just curious to see what changes and by how much.

Ever consider going with EcuTEK? I think you would hit 345-350 with it.

Mysilverz 01-13-2016 08:59 AM

Yeah ecutek is the route ill be going

PharmDZ 01-13-2016 09:06 AM

If I didn't have tuning software already, then maybe. I can't justify spending 600-900 bucks or whatever it'd cost on another 7 horsepower or so. Rather put it back into suspension/tires.

Mysilverz 01-13-2016 10:11 AM

So the parts just arrived. Ill post pics tonight. If anyone wants to see them now I just posted them on Z1's Facebook page under viewer's post.
