Custom intake manifold poll! What will you pay

So the process is coming along and I was asked to see what you guys will pay for a carbon fiber/cast aluminum manifold. This kit will work for turbos too. What do you want and what do you want to pay! This bolt on is happening so the shop needs input from you guys! Post the things you want like intakes/ fits your current set up, bigget Tb's and colors for the brushed aluminum on the manifold.

I want to see numbers first. Something that makes power, not take away anything.

Elmo370z 10-31-2015 11:57 AM

^^^ i agree. I would like to see different set up's with larger TB's like onpointdyno did with there ITB set up. I would want the manifold to fit under the front strut bar and not have to mod the hood to fit the manifold. Since this won't be a production product i can imagine this part isn't going to be cheap.

There will be gains, just curious what you are looking for

Its getting fitted to be a production product for the z. I like the input on tb's. I know itll fit the hood ill check on the strut bar

gbrettin 10-31-2015 12:21 PM

Subbed.

synolimit 10-31-2015 01:14 PM

Cost will never equal HP. That's the thing.

HP aside, the STI/WRX cosworth mani is $1250. So $1250.

Awesome. I hear with 09 maxima 70mm tb's popping up alot.

Id pay that. Not worse than spending 2k on a titanium exhaust or over 1000 on a SS. Plus i dont dont plan on staying at 7500 rpms either, so i hope the mani can support airflow

EzDz 10-31-2015 02:13 PM

Okay Ill pass that along! It will be alumimum as of now. No carbon fiber because its way to expensive. Heres a link for the 350z mani. The same engineer is doing the one this post is about :)

If your asking for sash he already knows that the community won't pay to play!

Only a select handful of Z33/Z34 would fork over that kinda money! Mostly likely the day people that would/have brought the Tomei full exhaust mostly are the same crowd that would buy an manifold of 2k or more!

370Z JT 10-31-2015 03:58 PM

I'll pay up to $2K

Probably wouldn'tbe worth it for me I'm N/A.But I might buy it if it's sexy enough or if it yielded gains on a nitrous setup

Like I said. I want to see numbers first, before I tell you if it's worth it or not.

yep number's
ported factory intakes get about 10hp.
so a completely re-designed custom should be around 20-25hp.
that would raise a few eyebrows-especially if that's on top of other mods. that are in place.

GZ3 10-31-2015 08:30 PM

if the numbers are right, my money will of no real concern

Yep function over fashion for my money on something like this.

ANMVQ 11-02-2015 11:55 AM

if it makes more than the Z1 then I'd pay more than what the M370 cost($600), but not much more. Yes there is "someone" making 70MM TB's for us haven't heard who tho;/

Elmo370z 11-02-2015 01:16 PM

Id pay much more. I like to see the manifold bolted up 1slow370z car and dyno tested. I want to see if the manifold paired up with a nice cam to see if it makes power past 7,500 rpms.

Elmo370z 11-02-2015 01:18 PM

I hope this manifold comes out, so i can move forward with my build and start saving.

Yea but wont we need a dry sump, Thought 7800 was the max

FPenvy 11-02-2015 01:47 PM

EZDZ if they need more Z's for testing i'm right in the area as well.

edo-san 11-02-2015 01:54 PM

Carbon; 25 hp gain; bolt on/no mods to strut brace option; high/smooth flow TBs (similar to 'Mines').

bullitt5897 11-02-2015 02:08 PM

I would like to see a long runner design with the ability to run primary and secondary injectors (secondary injectors in the runners like the GTR). I would also like to see 70mm throttle body ends to allow for 09 maxima TBodies. Carbon is nice but not needed.

A quality cast part or CNC billet aluminum. Larger collector tanks like the GTR greedy design. Internal baffles or Tank design (hence the Greddy example) to direct airflow evenly across the bank. Follow the example of boost logic with their gentle sloping oversized runners to allow for massive airflow.

Price wise if you stay $1500 and below you will sell like hotcakes to NA and FI crowds. From $1500 to $2k and you will sell a good bit of units mainly to FI guys. Between $2-3k you will only get the ballers. Above $3k and only a handful will buy if any.

The car has a dry sump, revs to 8200 rpms i believe

2015nismo 11-02-2015 03:46 PM

For a 20-25 hp gain (on top of other mods) I'd be willing to shell out between $1,000 and $1,500.

It'd also depend on how long it takes/how fast it will ship. I'm kinda impatient and would be willing to spend a bit more to get it fast.

Megan370z 11-02-2015 03:58 PM

btw guys for another time..
the Maxima 09+ are 75mm not 70.
the Vq35DE use a single 70mm and mod theres for the maxima TB.

phunk 11-02-2015 07:14 PM

Just for reference, the boost logic manifold for the GT-R is $4500.

This community wants something for far less than half the price, for an engine that is more difficult to engineer the part for, that will make 25hp all motor, without having to spin the engine more than a couple hundred RPM higher.

I see this working out well

A cast manifold can be had for far less than they portray at boost logic. I priced out a design already and granted it was overseas foundry doing the work but it can be done with decent quality. As far as the n/a gains I am with you it's a tall ask... Would love to see were you got with the current designs.

Elmo370z 11-02-2015 09:41 PM

Id spend the money. Name of the game have to pay to play. 2k-3k for an manifold, that be fine, just would take more time to save up. i plan on spending more than that on a billet crank and dry sump.

Kingbaby 11-03-2015 02:23 AM

They make it out to be rocket science !

A cast version of the OEM manifold would sell ! Just because it can be ported and polished means everything over the plastic waffle manifold!

I wish I didn't live on an island

phunk 11-03-2015 02:53 AM

if that is a bet you are willing to take, it doesnt matter where you live, all you need to do is send off the manifold to copy and a big fat check... I'll gladly refer you to someone who can make that happen.

EzDz 11-04-2015 08:04 PM

Just an update. The manifold will be going through a computer program that simulates water flow to see any bottlenecks. IF the tb's show that they are too small, bigger ones will be implemented!

Elmo370z 11-04-2015 09:47 PM

O Joy!

GZ3 11-04-2015 10:08 PM

Oh man lets get this going.... Trust me there are some of us who WILL PAY for proven performance...
