test pipes test pipes test pipes

ok, so i'm trying to understand the difference in the amount difference between test pipes, but i just can't seem to justify it. i understand resonated will be more then the non res ones. what i can't understand why is top speed $150 brand new, invidia $200 brand new, z1 $270 brand new, and so on.

if they all do the same thing, why such a difference in price? i'd understand if it was a few dollars difference.

can anyone shed any bit of light on this???? it's driving me crazy :icon14: :icon14: :icon14: :icon14: :icon14:

Quality and R&D is probably the number 1 factor/s. Look at Motordyne, it's $500+ for test pipes. I achieved 6-7HP and 5-8TQ just adding them -- the rasp is minimal -- product is a thing of beauty from welds to design.

i can understand the res ones being a little more expensive, but it seems all test pipes will give you 7-10hp and some tq. i just can't see the reason to pay $500 instead of $200 if i will get the same product. or maybe i'm just crazy, idk lol

Some people swear by, "you get what you pay for" and seem to think paying more will produce a better product I guess. Z1 is on back order with there test pipes, but I'm going with them because there the go to guys here and I live local and just a few clicks away from there shop.

could always pay $275 and get Fast Intentions TPs.

amazing sound, amazing quality, and the best customer service all for a nice price.

:tiphat:

Resonated test pipes reduces the rasp & hiss that are inherent with regular test pipes. I paid more for the extra ding dongs so I don't have to deal with any unwanted noises. And I didn't pay $500, got it second hand with less than a thousand miles on them courtesy of the classified section ;)

they seem to be, but about a week or two ago, can't remember who posted on zatlanta page that the test pipes they had from z1 one broke at the welding point.

there's plenty on here who do the same as well. it is a great product.

their products sold me on the sound and quality of their work. the bonus was when the car was strapped to the dyno lol

not sure if there would be the 10-12 week wait if just ordering test pipes from them. CBE is 10-12 week wait based on the demand and everything being hand built.

not sure how those two sound together but the hiss will happen no matter which brand or setup you choose. the hiss comes from removing the cats.

rasp however the res version will help relieve some of that.

i'm wondering too, the stillen cbe is not loud at all. has a deep rumble at about 3k rpm but doesn't get loud
