So... anyone interested in the Amuse? Even if you can't get it now, would any of you guys consider it in the near future (later this year)? Thinking about setting up something with Shine for the CF Accent Amuse for 4th quarter 2011 so we can do bulk shipping.
Just throwing it out there  |
amuse is always nice man...
|
Me likey amuse....but no power to back up kit....must wait for SC....ten years later....400ZX TT comes....my hopes and dreams destroyed
|
Since this is a chat thread....must say...thank you to Kamu for installing the new exhaust and the sways. Thanks for your time and care in making sure that everything went smoothly and as best as it could.
Just got to figure out how to resolve that slight issue with the flanges.....dammit. Wonder if it got warped from shipping or just wasnt welded on correctly. Anyone know of any good gaskets to fill in a slight gap? Also...my gosh. The 3.7 engines have a much more prominent after accelerating hissing sound than the 3.5 versions did. Thought it was just me...but after going on you tube and checking other 3.7 versus 3.5 aftermarket exhausts...it looks like the 3.7 is just louder in that department. |

Bleh, I can't comment on that because I haven't actually touched my car yet =(
|
Thats another thing.....I cant tell if its the hissing of the exhaust or a leak. LOL. I know that there is a slight leak...got to find a better gasket to seal it...but...maybe most of it is from the exhaust. I think that the exhaust change just amplified that hissing sound.
How are the F.I.L.T.H. ?? Heard and read good reviews on them. Technically I got the same thing with GTM resonated TPs and a full cat back system mix of Sunline and Amuse. The sounds between the two are VERY different though. I hear a G37 with a FI exhaust and that one is low and pretty loud too. |
Its most likely not an exhaust leak. Exhaust leaks sound very different than our engine hiss, and are very prominent. I dont really now how to explain that sound other than you would know the difference had you heard it; you would think your engine was broken. Its just hiss, and as far as I know, no one really knows what causes it or why its so prominent. My guess? VVEL. Just about everything weird or quirky about our engines all seems to stem from that.
As for the headers, I like them. A few friends have complimented the sound of my just driving around in light loads crusing, and the sound at WOT under full load combined with the intake is freaking loud, but sounds good. Power wise, its about the same as TP's. The TP and LTH perform very similar with only a few HP/TQ in the LTH's favor. I would hazard a guess that once some way to tune valve lift duration and overlap, we will see more benefit from NA and more notably FI aplications. |
It also depends on when the hissing or leaking noise happens...
If you hear a noise while accelerating it's more than likely a leak... If you hear a noise after a rev then it's more than likely the hissing noise mention aboved...which is somewhat normal... coutesy nissan sell oem gaskets cheap...or at least that's where I order mines. You can also put the quick gasket ontop of the metal gasket to ensure a uber tight seal... also thread locker helps preventing the exhaust nuts coming lose... trust me someone can torque down and exhaust nut and under WOT...you'd probably be able to unloosen with your hand... |
Ehhh...its probably the hissing from the normal sounds of the engine when "deloading" and on the off throttle position. Just that when they were installing the system...one of the flanges were warped and caused a big leak. They did manage to use a metal "crush" washer type to better seal one side and double gasket the other side...so I think that it is more of a mind thing...just because I knew it was leaking prior.
Think I am going to have to one day meet up with you guys just to "soothe" over my stupid paranoia. LOL. Glad to hear that you like the F.I.L.T.H.'s though. It was expensive and I hear a pain to install for certain bolts. It did sound good when you used to drive through town though. |
Installing them was definately a lot of work, but the shop I had them installed at (Sonics) knew their way around a VQ. The work was done in about 4 hours and he already knew about the problem bolts. When it came time to remove them he busted out a massive 4'-5' breaker bar! :bowrofl: The rest of the time I spent at the shop was dyno time. Highly recomend Sonics. Munkywurks didnt want to touch my car; He hates header installs on VQs.
|
Disregard.
|
Sonics does do good work. They did my GTM TP's and the springs. No issues and no damages to the car whatsoever.
Was sort of "pissed" when I had just bought my TP's then saw the first production of the FI headers....was like ....nuts...if I only read about it sooner. Anyhow, glad to hear that they are working well and are what was promised in regards to performance and no CEL codes. That was another big issue....I was fortunate with my rims as well. Got the TPMS to fit in there. DJ Motorsports on Nimitz did that job. Will probably be going back to them again. Need to replace the rears already. Only 12K miles and down to like 5/10" of an inch. Just random thoughts on a Monday..... |
Writing to re-subscribe since I accidentally clicked the link on me e-mail and to tell my brother Z owners if you plan to DIY coilovers be very careful of the front lower strut nut and bolt. I stripped my nut this past weekend....that sounded funny....seriously I went and priced the nut at Nissan $2.01 and the bolt with the sway bar link $42.xx cost to fix it with Nissan without parts $125 any advice before I have them shrink my pocket. I did everything by the book cause I am one of those by the book kine people and well the bolt was over tightened and not to spec according to a few mechanics at Nissan. Lesson learned still going to do my suspension but have to wait for nut and bolt. What do you guys think
|
If it was just a nut and bolt kind of a thing...then you can check out this place:
Hawaii Nut & Bolt Its close to Infiniti. Buuutt..if it is a Nissan part (non-nut and bolt) then well...yup...sorta SOL. Get it from Nissan. If you want it done and put back the same way....in the end...you are going to have to get the OEM part...assuming that you need more than just a nut and bolt. Though....it sounds like you already made this assumption. Hang in there, get the part, pay the $$ then just forget about it. |
Hellaflush soon?
Sadly, it's going to be the same cars... I wish the cars who weren't "hellaflush" not enter. I swear, I see better looking cars in the parking lot. But that's with all of them car shows... I'd choose a NSX over a dumped s13 anyday... No idea for the rant. Guess i'm just sick and tired of not being able to drive my car... |
Thanks, I am just waiting on the parts, the nut & bolt are on back order for some reason but should be here by Friday, maybe next week put on the coilovers, keeping my fingers crossed but not in a rush to get it done, my Z is my DD so she can't be out for the count for mrs than a day
|
Parts are for the most part...always on backorder. That is not a priority on the production side. Well...it was that way when I had my G35 as well at least.
BTW...you know that you are going to HAVE TO get recon to pass safety for the next safety inspection right? Coilovers are going to get flagged real fast and for the most part fail you at the inspection stations. Everyones "hook ups" are going to get tighter and tighter since the stations are getting caught more and subjected to higher fines and penalties. Not trying to rain on your parade....just making sure know that a recon will be needed. Sheriffs......love to ticket people. |

Agreed. Most of the people that just like to tinker with their cars are not show type people. Wasnt there a NSX for sale at that used car lot near 49'ers? Could of sworn I saw a red one with those weird euro exhaust tips...you know...the ones that are angled upwards and catch all the rain. LOL. |
^lol, i never understood those exhaust tips... haha especially in hawaii
|
VQ inc is going to be out in full force...
I'll be in a booth so I won't be getting judged... I don't wanna get beat by luckie...lmao |
Thanks :tiphat:I didn't know slammed cars needed recon ( i am a newb)...Good thing my safety doesn't expire for a very long time :) seen a yellow 370z Sport for the first time on isle this weekend took a pic of it cause it was beautiful, parked out by Zippys in mililani town center then the next day a white GTR parked in front of times, lucky me:)
|
Wonder who sold their 370z and why..
Nice car,..Had those Vertini style rims on my E55 before too... 2009 Nissan 370Z 2Dr Coupe 6-Speed Manual (One Owner/Low Miles) |
I would guess that anyone that sells or trades in a 2 seater did so mostly because of practicality. Its hard to get a "cool" sports car and yet the utility and practical aspect of a 4 door or a small SUV/crossover.
Unless you have the space for 2 cars or 3...you cant just have a 2 seater as the primary car. Coming from a truck...yeah there were some things that I just miss having it. Park anywhere...go to the beach, thrown all the Sams Club and Costco things in. |
Okay....I am bored.
Anyone have an Infiniti G37 and want to convert it into an IPL coupe? Got the exhaust just sitting in storage. Well...actually its an Nismo 370 exhaust....but I am assuming that the pipes are about the same. Maybe a difference in length of the midpipe though. Going to have to get another midpipe too. The Sunline pipe has warped flanges. What a lame excuse to get another thing isnt it. Mehh...havent thought it through yet. Probably should just have it fixed. Of course running over a plastic bag didnt help the matter either. Freaking burning plastic smell everytime I shut down and open the door. Niiiice. Okay back to work... |
Podium .....I was thinking maybe one day we all could meet at podium....cruise....eat...trade Z stories...IDK just throwing it out there
umm lowered my car.....seriously need rear camber kit like yesterday.....looks really good though |
I'm down for Podium...I work there...haha

We made it! Tsunami in Japan was pretty hardcore...

Grats to those of VQ Inc / Project Definition that got their tunes done today. Chris from AMS did the tuning, and used Rad Motorsports' dyno. I switched from Cobb to UpRev but didnt really see any power differences, but it does feel different... A little more refined thanks to different fuel mapping. :driving:
|
Really feelin' those numbers the GTM put out today with their STAGE 2 Super Charger! Hopefully when the car gets to Hawaii, and gets a retune, it'll keep them high numbers =)
Only time will tell... GTM video should be out in 2 weeks! |
thinking Hawaii
I am in the Navy and I am looking into getting stationed in Hawaii. Ive been doing some youtube on oahu and the car seen looks fairly strong out there. I talked to somone on this thread already about Hawaii and my interest in getting stationed there is rising, in the end its up to the detailer where I go.
What are some things can you guys tell me, dealing with the car scene? |
Honestly...you might want to post up on the my350Z site. This site in regards to the Hawaii group is a lot quieter.
|
Project-Definition | VQ Cruise on Vimeo <~vid I did for the G cruise
Hopefully, when I get the 370 out here I can grab some of us to do something special =) |
I'm Down! Been itching to get some cruising/driving done. :driving:
How was the cruise last Sunday? Were there big prizes for the raffle? Btw, Awesome vid! Mike |
It was great! It's good to stretch out my 350 around the island to see the sites and always love it when our group turns heads ^_^
The prize was headlight modification to the winner! insane prize IMO... people pay up to 1G for work like that done. I'll set something up a little smaller, low key, and throw in some prizes (free videoshoot?) one of these days... i'll wait until august to set something like that up. |
Who owns the white 370Z that's boosted?
|
Havent seen any white ones lately. No clue.
|
do you guys meet up at all?
|
There is a white boosted 370z on the island? @_@
i feel so small :( |
