+1

Would like to see the mounting points of the support bars.

MAMotorsports 08-04-2015 01:09 PM

There are two studs that come up through the floor in the rear, these thread onto those studs so no holes or extra hardware is needed. Currently I do not have a stock Z in here I can take a picture of and sadly we never grabbed one :(

AnthonyD1978 08-04-2015 01:33 PM

Looks like a quality piece and great for those that are sure they will never go to a 4 point cage. Otherwise you can spend twice the money and get a custom 4 point which is more than worth it compared to the price of the just the harness bar. I'm torn between the two...

Thanks man!

Yeah a quality 4 point is going to be at least $1500+ so this is a solid entry for track days!

Maybe interested...

Let me know if you have any questions!

Carbon_z 08-04-2015 03:59 PM

can you still have ur stock seat belts mounted and used?

derraj06 08-04-2015 07:30 PM

This is an interesting concept. It does not appear that the stock seat belts will work with this setup. Is that correct? I am about to order Sabelt seats and harnesses through Corner3 so this might happen if you can retain the factory seat belts. Given the recent tragedy at Road Atlanta, I'm more inclined to get a 4 point cage at the moment. How sure are you of the studs in the floor?

Zero dark 08-04-2015 08:16 PM

In for group buy at 20% :yum:

AntiVenom 08-05-2015 05:47 AM

looks like a quality piece for anyone wanting to add a harness to their car. makes it awkward for street cars since it seems you lose stock belt functionality.

Currently not 100% sure on stock belts so I dont want to say yes or no, as we did not test it with them in there. I am going to see if I can get a car in here to test on.

Currently not 100% sure on stock belts so I dont want to say yes or no. As for a 4 point, if the RPM one fits your needs I can work on a price(Or if you want to get the car to us we can build one), a 4 point will defiantly add more structural safety to the car so I can not argue that.

As for the studs in the rear, we are very sure. We would not send out a product we were not 100% sure on. Even more so when it comes to safety items.

You should shoot me a PM with the Sabelt parts you want and I can also get you a price.

It really depends, I know of many customers that just use their harnesses at all times now. But, I am more than willing to see if we can make this work with stock belts also.

Carbon_z 08-05-2015 09:19 AM

Just let me know, thanks again.

sub'd to see if the stock belt ends up working

TerribleONE 08-05-2015 09:24 AM

Highly doubt the stock belts will work as it looks like this mounts to the original belt location. If my plan for a half cage with a local builder doesn't work out, I will take one.

Since the interest is there, and stock belts seem to be a big factor. We are going to look into making changes if need be to make it work with stock belts. So, if that is anyone's only hindrance we should be able to fix that!

Iīve done it. Thatīs how I know it sucks.

I am going the 4point roll cage route. So you can ignore my comment. This seems like a good option for anybody doing autoX, wants harnesses in their street car, etc.

glad you guys are on here and innovating/creating new stuff for the Z.

I guess at this point I am thinking of going custom. I havenīt decided on a shop yet, but there are a few in the NC area that seem to have good reps. Heck you guys are only 5-6 hours away. Wouldnīt be out of the question to have you guys do it.

I looked at the autopower and RPM versions and wasnīt convinced. I think there is room in the market for a good SCCA/NASA roll cage. IIRC there was a thread running around some months ago on the subject. Not sure it ever came to maturity though.

Carbon_z 08-05-2015 01:15 PM

Certain State laws require there to be a seat belt in use on highways, not harness. Just incase we need to strap on the seat belt ;)

We would be more than happy to work with you on a cage! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

For all of you talking about going the cage, what are your thoughts on interior? Are you looking to keep it? remove it? We normally prefer the least amount of interior possible as it allows us to build a stronger and safer cage, but I want to hear peoples thoughts on this also.

-Daelen

MAMotorsports 08-06-2015 10:59 AM

So we checked with some parts we had around the shop, current bar is a no go with seat belts.

I should have a car up here very soon to mock up a new bar, so for anyone that was on the fence but needed stock belts. That will be fixed very soon.

For me keeping the interior is critical.
After that tall guy compatibility would be the most important factor. Followed by the guarantee that it would pass tech inspection for PDX/HPDEs.

Test car was in here Monday/Tueday and the bar has been modified to work with stock belts.

If that was your only concern it has now been fixed and price will remain the same.

Let me know if you would like to get on the list!

What would it cost to add guides or bolt in anchor points for the harnesses? Just curious.

Good on you guys for listening to what the people want... I am also in the stock seatbelt boat because I still daily my car and wouldn't want to put this in/take it out every time I went to the track nor would I want to rock harnesses on a daily basis. In for updates on the stock belt situation with this.

I do think those rods you have are being connected to the anchor points used for baby seats.
see this pic:

Also, how much would it cost to ship this to Puerto Rico? (Zip is 00677)
