Plus with the install manual and already bolted into a car couldnt be too hard to see where things go where...he doesnt tune. Hes built my vws my gti from 180hp to 580whp this year. Sure hes been around vws all his life but a supercharger isnt that hard to do its bolt on. Im just trying to do this right with possibly not having to tow the car 4hrs away.
Thats why the best thing would have been to just swap ecus (if it worked). I get the tune that came with his kit.

Do u guys with the kit change the clutch out? Doesnt seem like the stillen makes that much more hp from what ive read 420+?

Since you can't switch ecus, your best option is to purchase an uprev license and take the car to a knowledgeable 370z tuner. The VQ37 has some wrinkles to it that are different than other motors.

Another ?....
What happens to his car, if i d9nt get his tune wont he have a tune on an oem car lol

You won't get his tune. He will go back to his stock tune.

Plus if you read my original question, my concern was swapping the kit from a tuned car to mine. Thats not being cheap thats doing a direct swap....

I feel like this is going in circles.

OP, your 'buddy' needs to return his car completely to stock. Then with his uprev license load the factory tune back in.

At this point he can transfer the Uprev license to you and Uprev can unlock the license to work on your car (the license is tied to the ECU).

Guess ill have the swap done here and then tow it to that place. My only question now is what happens to his car its not like the tune will notice its not supercharged anymore and go to oem...the next buyer of that car will mess it up right? It will have a sc tune on it

"Direct swap" is not really possible.
Parts can be unbolted from his car to yours, but there are items you will need to change. Injectors will probably need to be new, spark plugs, fuel pump, possibly new belts for the SC unit, new fluid will be required.

No. As I said before, his car will have the stock tune on it. That's an option he has with the cable Stillen supplies with the kit.

Lol i apreciate the help guys...

He doesnt have the cable. If i take it to that uprev dealer i would get the tune and dyno there. I wouldnt mess with his programming which is why im saying wouldnt that mess his car up.

btimola 12-11-2014 01:40 PM

Injectors after 15k miles?

btimola 12-11-2014 01:40 PM

Anyone know what kind of belts i would need as well as fuel pump? Does stillen sell this seperate?

Did he lose it? It comes with the kit.

He will revert back to stock. That is what you do when you take the kit off. It's an option he has. There is no other option. The car will not run on the SC tune. He will flash a stock map back on the car. Full stop.

Call Stillen.

I wish you luck, hopefully Chuck can answer all your questions, the man knows what hes saying. Listen to the Vet.

btimola 12-11-2014 02:26 PM

Thanks. Yeah he doesnt have the cable he bought the car when it had 20k miles or so and the kit had been installed a few months before. He worked at the dealership where it was traded in. The military guy (owner) told him it had like 5k miles and about a year installed. I guess he forgot to give them the cable. So if he doesnt mess with his tune and just slaps my oem stuff, his car will not run?

If he doesn't have the cable then he will need to take his car to an UpRev tuner and have them revert the car back to the stock map. You will need a 'BacktoStock' file to do that.
