SC & Z1 oil cooler + stillen AT cooler

Ran into a hiccip here. Anyone have a picture of how this can all fit? The installer says the 34 row oil cooler is in the way of the intake and filters. But to move it to the other side would mean too much blocking air flow. Any help os appreciated. I don't want to relace the core for the oil cooler. But I don't know what else to do. Input?

Zoren 370 12-04-2014 11:32 PM

Do you have a stillen Gen 3 intake?

brutusvk 12-04-2014 11:34 PM

I had the g3 intake but that gets replaced by the supercharger intake.

Zoren 370 12-04-2014 11:53 PM

Well this the only one I found hopefully this help as guide.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 12:00 AM

It seems the transmission cooler has made this harder. Because it can't all go on one side. Thanks for the picture though.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 12:02 AM

Gonna have to go with the 25 it seems. Maybe I can just get the cure and bracket.

Zoren 370 12-05-2014 12:02 AM

That is the power steering cooler.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 12:09 AM

I meant the install of the transcooler on MY car. I know what the PS cooler is. I was referring to relocating the 34 row to the other side. So you'd have ps cooler, oil cooler and AT cooler stacked.

Zoren 370 12-05-2014 12:20 AM

Ok gotcha . Hopefully you can find a way how to stack all in one place. Im sure its possible. Lets wait for others to chime in who had SC installed.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 12:27 AM

The 34 row is 3 to 4 inches taller and interferes with the intake for the SC.

Btw have you sold your g3 intake already?

brutusvk 12-05-2014 12:42 AM

nope. haven't even thought about it. lol

JWillis72 12-05-2014 07:37 AM

Mine are all stacked up on the left side looking at it from the front.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 08:55 AM

Thanks for all the help. It looks like Tim is going to talk to Adam at Stillen today. We'll eventually get it worked out. The pictures really helped and I am very appreciative.

JWillis72 12-05-2014 09:11 AM

Have you seen how GTM placed coolers in front of the driver side front wheel and vented the liner behind it? I have a Stillen bumper on order and thinking of mounting one of the coolers like that for more room, that might be an option for more space.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 09:31 AM

I did seee that last night. May have to get creative.

JWillis72 12-05-2014 11:16 AM

I would have the tuner adjust your 7AT why it's there so it will shift faster.

brutusvk 12-05-2014 11:20 AM

He is adjusting the 7AT too.

JWillis72 12-08-2014 06:33 PM

Did you get it worked out?

We think so. Stillen shipped a smaller cooler and a bracket that is supposed to mount the AT cooler and oil cooler next to each other. Can still use the Z1 lines already in place. I may try to fabricate later to see if the 34 row can fit with everything else. Hoping to get it back Thursday.

brutusvk 12-09-2014 09:04 PM

Got an email from Tim. The parts came in and should work fine. Will know for sure tomorrow and will tune thurs or fri.

brutusvk 12-11-2014 10:45 PM

Actually, saturday. lol. I saw some pics today. It is almost done. He just had several tuning sessions scheduled today. Don't miss work this way too.

brutusvk 12-13-2014 12:04 AM

Tomorrow I go tune the car and drive her home. Won't be the fastest Z out there but she sure is pretty and she is my daily driver.

So finally you have made it. Nice build!
Enjoy! :driving:

May not be the fastest Z but it will surprise a lot of people! Hope you enjoy it.

It is building too much boost right now. Laid down 468 whp. Pulled timing. 462 whp

brutusvk 12-14-2014 12:41 AM

Got things worked out. It is running good. It is tame as a kitten until you open her up. Then it is a totally different car.

On sunday my boost gauge quit working. Well, the vacuum line off of the BPV came in contact with the belt. (took a while to find that lol) It threw a code too. P0300 I cleared it with the uprev software. I ran it some and datalogged. Still seeing a bit of a rich condition at 4000 rpm. So it may take some more tuning. May need a different spring for the BPV too) But it will get squared away. Drove the car quite a bit and the code never came back.

JWillis72 12-15-2014 04:03 PM

We tuned mine 3 time to get all the little bugs out but it sounds like your off to a good start.

brutusvk 12-15-2014 04:14 PM

I hope so. Forced induction is all new to me. Now I have three cars with FI and one with N2O. Go figure. (Cummins, GTI and the Z... the Nova has a lowly bottle)

JWillis72 12-15-2014 06:29 PM

This is the first one I added boost to also. It's been running great for over a year now.

I truly appreciate all the input. This site has been very helpful. On a funny note, now my wife wants her GTI APR reflashed. lol She is gonna have a pretty fast little GTI.

brutusvk 12-16-2014 12:50 PM

The car started having an odd noise. Hear it in the car at idle in drive. Cannot hear it under the hood. Can barely hear it under the car. If the rpms go up the sound goes away. Sounds like a low sqeaky rattle. May be a loose exhaust part. Annoying.

JWillis72 12-16-2014 01:06 PM

Look up the video of the broken flex plate sound and make sure its not that.

brutusvk 12-16-2014 02:50 PM

I think it sounds different. I am starting to think it is resonate sound from the SC. Will take another person working on it. I need another set of ears to track it down.

BTW, does anyone (except GTM) actually make a HD flexplate for the 7AT?

JWillis72 12-16-2014 03:46 PM

Oh does it sound like a a marble in it? If so its just the SC. When you change the oil it will get way better. I change it before every track day and it sound like that at the end of the weekend. I change the oil a lot to keep it quiet.

brutusvk 12-16-2014 04:05 PM

It is hard to explain. But I think the marble in a can sound that at a specific rpm sounds a bit different inside the car. I have no idea if that makes sense. Kind of like when it sounds like a noise is coming from the front, then you find out it was in the back but "travelled through the exhaust". So the muffled version of the sound creates an effect that changes it slightly. Make any sense? lol

JWillis72 12-16-2014 04:21 PM

Mine kept getting louder until the first oil change( I think 2500 miles but may have been 5k) then I quieted way down until I beat on it. I think I changed mine 6 time last year but I also track the car.
