Stillen SC and Invidia Gemini Exhaust ??

Now i have my car at Stillen and after a few tunes on the Dyno they can only get 386 HP out of the car and they are saying the problem could be the Invidia Gemini Exhaust

According to Stillen a Nismo with stock exhaust puts out around 416hp or so

So my question is , Anyone in So cal have a SC and Invidia exhaust ?
If so what numbers are you putting out ?

Car is a 2012 370z nismo 18k millage and put out 279 whp with Invidia and Takeda intakes

Im gonna go drop off the stock exhaust tomorrow and hopefully it can get close to 400's , kinda hard pill to swallow after droppin so much coin on the kit

Debiandog 09-02-2014 08:31 PM

I am not saying it is not true but I find it very hard to believe. Does the tuner do a lot of 370s?

^^^^ Have no idea but being the kit is form Stillen and they are the ones doing the job i was hoping for a easier no hassle install

Tomorrow they are going to try out the Stillen cat back and if they do not find the extra HP I will go from there

speedytl 09-02-2014 10:38 PM

Maybe there's to much flow just like how they want the stock cat on for more HP and boost.

ANMVQ 09-03-2014 08:00 AM

That's hard to believe any way you cut it, My car with Stillen Gen 3's and Exotic Speed cat back( True Dual 2.5) Stock cats made 298 WHP (UPREV) .
With the Stillen kit and "their Tune" car only made 342 WHP( Tune was CRAP) ? I went custom tune and got 412 WHP so I gained 114 WHP and you gained 107 so not that far off, Was your car dyno'd at their dyno for the 279 run? If not their dyno could be SUPER LOW!

Hotrodz 09-03-2014 08:19 AM

Call Sebastian at SpecialtyZ if you decide on a custom tune. Hands down the best Z tuner in the area.

zmanelite 09-03-2014 08:20 AM

Yeah it was all done on there Dyno
In order to do a custom tune on the car does the Stillen kit have a piggyback ecu ?

Do you have any contact info on SpecialtyZ ?

stillen tuning is garbage

just do a search on here dude. don't waste any more time at stillen.

nomodsjk 09-03-2014 10:22 AM

There is no way even with a nismo that with the stillen SC kit and their canned tune will it put down 416whp. My car has the stillen SC plus 9lb pulley and headers test pipes and the cat back exhaust and with a custom tune from r\t tuning I'm making 440 at the wheel which is exactly 50 more at the wheel over the stillen canned tune so I call bull****. Also my car is not a nismo

nomodsjk 09-03-2014 10:24 AM

And there is no way that their cat back exhaust is going to add 30 more at the wheel over your invida! Again I call bs!

zmanelite 09-03-2014 10:49 AM

You running 91 or 93 oct? ^^^^

zmanelite 09-03-2014 11:25 AM

As for the Stillen tune from what ive heard the new tune is not that bad

Maybe i was expecting more as the numbers i was told were different than what really expected
I was told 450 to 500 but im guessing that is at the crank now vs BHP

450 -500 WHP on a SC your motor will most likely pop Too much boost to make that number! I was at 11-12 PSI and 460ish WHP motor gave up.
Their kit BPH is 515, WHP tuned and custom tune and custom tune only will net you low 400's.

1slow370 09-03-2014 02:05 PM

it all depends on the blower, the rotrex's don't quite switch into full on hairdryer mode like the vortechs do at high boost that is why they typically run more power without popping.

I posted this a week ago but didn't get much response. But this dyno was done at Stillen. Some things to consider as you can see in my post. 3rd gear pulls and no fan. My HP numbers seem on track considering, but my TQ numbers seem low. Did you ask what gear they were testing in? It's hot as balls in SoCal so that doesn't help. Did they use a fan at all? Everything adds up.

Not on the Stillen canned tune but 416whp is doable with a custom tune, mines 418whp with the 8lb pulley and Stillen cat back exhaust.

The canned tune sucked on my car and I don't think you will get that 416whp on Cali gas.

Wow, when you posted that I didn't realize it was at Stillen. Maybe they aren't changing the canned tune because of the CARB stuff you have to meet?

And 3rd gear pulls?

You WHP should be at worst 400 and QTRQ should be right around 300. 3rd gear is the wrong gear.

We just changed the exhaust and the car feel completely different. Why don't you come by and drive it and see. We will be dynoing tomorrow and I will post results.

We have been changing the canned tunes recently. Any supercharger kit after April 2014 has our new tunes. We had an IPL in Florida make 429 whp with a stock IPL exhaust (auto).

On Cali 91 Octane Gas 2013 G37 Coupe with STILLEN Supercharger and Exhaust. Smog legal tune on a 95 degree day.

These are 3rd gear pulls because 4th gets going too fast.

JWillis72 09-03-2014 07:33 PM

I'm glad to hear the canned tune has changed!

JWillis72 09-03-2014 07:35 PM

I'm a Stillen fan but the canned tune really let me down! Glad to see you are working on it!

zmanelite 09-03-2014 07:53 PM

Hoping for some good news from you guys soon :driving:

as I am also , But the canned tune I had only made 40 more WHP than my bolted tune. I'm just curious too , why did you emphasize smog legal tune ?
Just because we get a custom tune doesn't mean it's not smog legal. I got my sticker on my 412 WHP custom tune.
Get work in changing the canned tunes

Also please don't get me wrong I have every performance part that stillen makes for a reason. I love my stillen set up and I'm glad to hear that the tune and the exhaust is better. Just sux that I bought probably the last kit before you changed it. I bought mine the 3rd week in April this year lol figures

I heard Stillen was working on the Supercharger system that will make more power. Is this what i've been hearing? A better tune?

Akmcmahon 09-04-2014 01:12 AM

To be clear, I'm not bashing on Stillen in my thread. I was just pointing out how they dynoed and the differences to what I'm used to seeing. Everyone there is really cool and helpful. I will definitely be going back to them. Customer service goes a long way for me and they were incredibly courteous.

I am baffled by the lack of a fan on the dyno though. Especially when the car shows heat soak, this would help reduce that and simulate a closer to real world experience. I'll probably bring it in to dyno my car with my new exhaust and HFC. Since info is lacking on the Ark Grip exhaust, figure it will help the community.

I thought I had seen on here that you had to use there tune to pass so I was just guessing at what could cause it to be lower. We don't have to test our cars for anything here so I have no clue what the testing requires.

I didn't have to use their tune, I was on the custom tune when I passed smog in MA, Testing is ODII hook up( Data Reader) and tailpipe sniffer. They used to use a rollers here in MA ( Not sure they still do) as I have a AWD and never had to worry about being put on rollers because of the AWD :)

Yea they make both RWD and AWD, The AWD is the intelligent AWD. Acts as RWD till the rears slip, An for me in the Northeast( SNOW) The summer RWD is nice the the option to have a AWD snow beast is NICE also :tiphat:

I said CARB Legal Tune because of Jason's question/comment...

The CARB Legal Kit must come with a Tune from STILLEN. You can get a custom tune after but technically it is no longer CARB Legal Unless Performed/Approved by a CARB Approved Facility.

We have the same situation here in California. AWD Cars don't get smogged on rollers. Here in CA you need the CARB Sticker to pass smog.

Is the new kit you're developing also going to be CARB legal?

The High Boost kit will not be CARB Legal and will be not recommended for 91 octane.
