that's not loud.... wait til the rest gets put on and it will be quieter

RCZ 09-23-2009 10:53 AM

^no ****, but when the wastegates open all hell breaks loose, its practically open headers. Which should sound pretty damn good/loud on the 6. Any creative accommodations for the dump tubes btw? or are they just pointing down?

...they have a nice little curve to them to direct the spent flow out of harms way...

So does the standard GTM kit use plumb-back tubing or what?

this was the kit with the external wastegates and you have the option to use open dumps or return it to the exhaust

im new to the turbo word so forgive me if this is a noob question. But whats the pro's and con's of both open dump and return

The pro of open dumps is less restriction in the exhaust as it send the wastegate exhaust out to atmoshpere, so it helps with maintaining boost and not slowing down the turbos once you reach desired boost, the con or pro to some is that it will be loud once the wastegates open up.

I love scaring people with mine, specially if they cut me off

is that why the bov sounds really long? its not a quick little blow off, its quite long.

It should not really affect the BOV

That's the valve fluttering. It probably needs spring adjustment, though I don't recall whether that tial BOV can be adjusted like that. I am kinda surprised they didn't use HKS SSQVs. I feel like those are a preferred valve. I hated my Tial BOV on my STi and took it off for something else.

While the HKS is certainly good, TiAl makes the best blow-off vlaves and wastegates money can buy. Their BOV also has a significantly higher flow-capacity than the SSQV.

What are you going to due for timing? The cobb isn't allowing the G37 guys to actually pull or add any timing. With the stock CR you are going to have to pull some timing.

There are a few ways to achieve desired timing...but the provided combustion duration maps alone arent enough....We have been working with the 370z timing system a bit and have a few methods that will be implemented along with the Access port....

Yeah, I liked my Tial wastegate, though it did start to stick after a while (but they rebuilt it for free). As for the flow, I am guessing that's why people often run 2 HKSs, like on turbo M3s. There is the matter of the sound it makes too--not everyone likes it.
