you guys are all taking this the wrong way O&G since you apparently have connections with the shop could you ask them if this is a thing they are still testing out to see what happens, or will they be selling the charger and higher speed pulley? or can that pulley be used fine on a regular stillen charger? and what kind of intercooler mods will they do to support the additional heat?
Other good ones are, if they are over-spinning it is it a matter of vortech underrating the unit, or did they modify it for extra rpms, as well as as what they think the actual redline of their charger is? like can it be spun faster than with the new pulley or will they have it maxed out? |
any updates on this thing yet?

It was running when I went by the shop a couple weeks ago. No tuning yet as they were still tweaking things a little.
Edit - I left off the thing sounds beastly |
Car only made 2psi of boost...... Na, its still in breakin, Ill see if i can get an update on it 2day

I just saw this. It is my car. I got the cog pulley idea from the Stillen supercharged guys on this forum. I am running the 3.2" serp pulley that comes with the kit. The rear pulleys were a 1:1 ratio and were changed out for 34T:30T setup and JTran made the idler pulley and got everything to work. Should be spinning the Si impeller around 56K rpms. It made 13+ psi on the SCi impeller at the same rpms, so I think 16+ psi is probable with the Si. Also have a 28T pulley in Ron's toolbox, but we haven't been able to make it work without shredding cog belts. It would spin the blower around 61K rpms, but I don't think it's going to happen. That setup will surely push close to 20 psi, but I'm not in a rush to make that work right now. For extra cooling, we added meth injection.
The car made 266hp w/ boltons and tune. 409hp w/ Stillen SC. 420+hp w/cogs. 450+hp when it blew w/ cogs and Si impeller and quite a bit of belt slip(15 psi @ 6500 rpms and held 15psi to redline). We'll see how it does in a couple of weeks. I ran a 12.5 @ 114 on street tires with the cog pulleys and SCi impeller. I am a Novice. All facts. Take them or leave them. |

Also note. The faster we spin the Vortech blower with the Stillen kit, the smaller the HP gains up top, but it gained gobs of TQ throughout the entire rpm range. I think the Stillen piping may not flow well enough at the higher rpms. So every step along the way has been much more noticeable on the street than the peak hp numbers suggest.

This GT500 at our shop has a similar design like the Stillen setup. It has the plate running coolant between the S/C manifold and lower intake manifold. Difference is, it's a water to air setup w/ a front mount intercooler setup reducing temps drastically and making gobs of whp & wtq. This can be done for the Stillen kit on our platforms with proper JTran modifications! Food for thought!
Pro4jackster I'm your Irish brother w/ the low mount 70mm turbo setup on the built block, 40th 370Z! Glad to see you on the forum! http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/g...psa2d90d73.jpg |
