The one thing I can appreciate from my350 is that they don't baby anyone and tell it to you straight.

Try asking if turbo or sc is the way to go and you'll get chewed out. Ask for something that a simple search can get you the answers and you'll get chewed out.

I've seen people start threads about the same thing and ask the same questions here. Gets annoying.

1slow370 03-23-2014 12:48 AM

oh you mean the "roast the living **** out of newbies" policy?

elperuano 03-23-2014 08:53 AM

No I mean roast the newbie who doesn't bother to do any research for himself and expects to get spoon fed policy

Unfortunately a lot of newbie's are newbie's for a reason. Either they are inexperienced with how forums work, not familiar with the platform and therefore less likely to know the specific terminology or simply not mechanically minded.

There are plenty of reasons that newbies ask what seem like stupid questions on a forum, its not always laziness. Unfortunately many of the more experienced guys forget that at one point in time, they were newbies themselves. There really shouldnt be any issues with people asking stupid questions. Answering those questions and helping people is the entire point of a forum, is it not. If you have the answer or know where it is located, point them in the right direction and move on.

elperuano 03-23-2014 10:06 AM

When signing up to most car forums the admins state to use the search function for common answers to the common questions.

I don't mind helping anyone out, but I won't let someone's laziness be my extra workload. It's not that hard to read and search.

Who drops coin on anything without doing some kind of research to know what you're buying?

It is also not that hard to just ignore those threads when they are posted. Instead you read them, potentially post GO SEARCH IDIOT, and then let your blood pressure rise of it..

Who gives a ****? Just let it go.

Lol is this still a thing?

mikey1600 04-09-2014 03:37 AM

still a thing indeed!

can't remember if there was a tally of how many of us are still in it, only other option here in Aus is the GTM supercharger kit or the stillen supercharger kit, problem is I almost got the stillen supercharger kit a year ago when I saw this kit popup! so I'm in for the long haul ;)

MMC Racing 04-09-2014 07:35 AM

Wasn't the "whisper" ship date out of GTM a few months ago April? It is now April...

I posted this back in January:
Countdown to shipment

I may have to increase that estimate.

I always heard that the Greddy kit fits RHD 350z if you make a new right hand side down pipe setup. If this could be confirmed true, perhaps it's the same way with the 370z. Finding an old cracked Greddy manifold to test fit should be easy since the manifolds have been cast for over 10 years now. But you would have to also get your hands on a proprietary Greddy turbine housing.

If it works out, making a downpipe would be easy enough. Know any Australian 350zs using the Greddy?

As someone who is looking to go FI soon, I was liking the GTM kits but after reading countless threads about them I got discouraged. It really is a shame, it sounds like they have good products. At least Stillen, F.I., and BP seem to be responsive and offer support. I'll count your statement as a rumor because any business that is reputable can handle the criticism. It's really their actions (or lack thereof) that speak for itself.

NeverBoneStck 04-09-2014 04:21 PM

I would find it hard to say GTM is a reputable business ...

Don't forget that this is the "Social Media Age ". This global social media will eventually destroy your reputation and put your business in limbo if you repeatedly screw up. It will happen before you know it.... sooner or later.

I was and still am ( Don't know how much longer ) a GTM fan but I have to say that they REALLY messed up this time bad about this version 3 Turbo kit. That's why they shut the door to all questions concerning this kit with the exception for the customers who have paid for this kit.

I personally think that's the right move in order to salvage themselves from this black hole that they are currently in right now. I sincerely hope they can turn around.

Well, this makes sense (or at least to me)

Why come here and post something if it's not THE news we want to hear? We're going to SHIT on anything they do post anyways. And why make excuses for themselves at this point?

Might as well cut their losses and wait for whatever the hell they're waiting for, put the damn kit out, THEN do some mob control.

COSMO 04-09-2014 07:55 PM

I think they should make more productive items like maybe a cup holders.. Sam you suck @ss for not addressing your manifolds that have CRACKED!!! Maybe I will schedule a flight to cali and shove your cracked manifold up your anus and then maybe you will find it in your heart to replace them for us...

I kinda disagree. Maybe if we were in middle school and you constantly got bullied, then, I could understand.

We're all grown adults and they weren't shy of taking thousands and thousands of dollar for an imaginary product. This isnt their first rodeo so I'm sure they knew the what they were getting themselves into.

For that, to hide behind the "we're too mean or better not post anything because we're gonna get chewed out" is just low at this point. People's hard earned money are at stake and they deserve better. Their reputation has found them (or should I say karma) from my350 and it's the same outcome. Stay quiet and hope the few n00bs slip thru the cracks and buys their product.

Man up. This is a big boy world.

Agreed. If they had kept the communication up the entire time then much of the negativity would have been avoided. Not all of it of course but their silence has to have attributed to at least 50% of the anger aimed at them on here.

Silence is generally seen as an affirmative response to a comment or question. So if someone says "you guys are dodgy and ripping people off" then silence will generally be taken as "why yes. Yes we are".
Never a good way to handle things!

I really don't understand their logic. They expect to take people's money (and we're not talking pocket change here) over imaginary poor quality products with poorer customer service and expect zero reaction from the community? Is that their explanation for "sh!tting on the community"? Because the Z/G community is the one being irrational here?

You obviously haven't being paying attention. Here are two of my posts from way back at the start of October.

"Delays are not the end of the world for me. The lack of communication is what is disappointing. Without even considering everyone else, to hold over $8000 of my money for months on end without a single email explaining what is going on, is not good business practise. I could have simply chucked that cash into a 6 month term deposit and made a couple of hundred on it by now. To be honest it is pretty typical of most performance garages though, fantastic products, great mechanics and engineers, but not a huge amount of business accumen.

I am not worried about being ripped off. I know that the kit will arrive eventually and will kick *** but I do hope that GTM learn a thing or two about communication from reading this thread.

People will always forgive mistakes and delays, as long as they feel as though the company is doing everything they can to make things right. A simple blanket email every few weeks, with a status update for everyone who has ordered and paid would go a hell of a long way. Being on the other side of the planet, I do not really have the luxury of being able to pick up the phone and call (nor should i really have to). Being left in the dark is what causes people to lose confidence and provokes many of the comments made over the last dozen or so pages of this thread."

And then two weeks later......

"This is basically what I wrote about 10 pages back. Anyone who was suprised when it was delayed massively is a little naive. Big project = Big potential delays.

The lack of communication whilst holding peoples money is the issue here really. I'm willing to wait as long as it takes but I truely hope that GTM learn a little about communication from this. When mistakes happen, its how they are dealt with that determines peoples final opinion of a business.

That said.........Gimme my Boost!!!"

Just curious, are you going to wait forever till they ship the kit or you already have a specific day that you pick the phone and ask for refund?

Man... I don't know any more. I have been a VERY FIRM GTM believer but now my confidence is starting to erode for 2 reasons :

1)) Severe lack of communications and very rude customer support from GTM

2)) There are a lot of talks about possible quality issues with their turbo kit since the price is so much cheaper than industry standard. I hope this is not true but it's hard to ignore this rumor.

But at least I will try to hang on to GTM until my limit is being reached. After that, I will have a serious talk with Tony and Dave over at F.I. and possibly start considering their product

I've got to ask- is there a significance to the various colors you use in your posts? Why do you do that?
