I have a little over 20k miles in ~23 months on a daily driven GTM Stage 1 SC (turnkey) kit with the GTM oil cooler supplement w/remote thermostatic adapter. I am at 419WHP/350WTQ@8PSI

Additions since the original install
  • GReddy Turbo Oil Pan
  • Fender Lining Vent and SPAL 7.5” Fan for additional oil cooling (fan seems to be the best cooling addition so far)
  • Custom UpRev Tune (just to eek out a little more go-go juice)
** I had the ZSpeed aluminum under tray but sold it because it did not fit well with parts of the SC kit. I have a NISMO so this might not be the case for other FI kits or the base Z.
** I had the Motordyne ART pipes for a while, but could not get them to seal properly. I went back to the stock cats.

Maintenance
  • Went through the OEM Yokohama Advan’s in less than 10k
  • Eneos oil change every 3k
  • Differential change every 7.5k
  • Manual fluid change every 7.5k
  • Air filter service every 10k
  • In August, I will be 2 years on the kit and will change the Rotrex fluid and probably the drive belt

Issues - These are problems to some and not so much problems to others. It is all relative.
  • Depending on your technique, tire wear might be considered an issue
  • Several oil leaks with the hoses that deliver oil on the oil filter relocation kit that was resolved with new hoses and AN fittings
  • Had a power steering hose issue that resulted in a complete fluid dump, requiring a wrecker. This was also resolved with a new hose and fittings. Look through the GTM install instructions for more details about the power steering hose modifications during the install of the kit.
  • I tracked down a knock/rattle in the front end that I need to fix. The power steering cooler and bracket are loose, so the power steering cooler is knocking between the radiator and the intercooler. Again, look through the GTM install instructions for details on modifications made to the power steering cooler and mount.
  • Even after a custom tune, I still sometimes have a slight idle issue that seems to be normal. I made a thread about it last year and the conclusion was it was a normal occurrence.
  • The plastic NISMO undertray does not fit well with part of the intercooling piping and has a tendency to come loose at points especially at speeds well over the triple digits. I have replaced and lost several pop clips.

As I have said on the forum before, I do not launch the car. It is kind of silly and a waste of some expensive rubber. Yes, I gained torque and power down low, but to be honest to car is not magically super fast off the line with the SC. But from a roll, that is a very different story.

However, I have done some hard driving in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear. The car gets driven but not abused. It has been a lot of fun which was my goal. I am still on the stock clutch and CSC if that tells you anything. But I have funds set aside for when they strand me on the side of the road. That is not an if, it is a when. I have not tracked the car yet but it does get driven daily.

For all intents and purposes including the cash I dropped from the beginning of this project, I am pleased with the GTM kit and have no real complaints.

[EDIT]
Also, I don't fault my issues with GTM or the shop that installed my kit. That is the price you pay when you mod a brand new car. The OP and some others asked for real world issues and I am just being honest.

I have the stillen kit and don't regret it I love it and it runs good. Makes 430whp and 315 trq. the stillen injectors suck and the stillen tune sucks also. I had mine tuned at uprev in Austin tx with 725 injectors. she runs great no problems. I have about 20k miles on this kit now.

I have the Stillen kit...but only 2-3 days in lol. With the upgraded pulley (10psi), Turbosmart BPV, Berk HFCs, GReddy Ti-C exhaust, OEM MAFs, and Motion Lab UpRev tune I got 422 hp / 318 tq @ 6500 rpm. My OEM MAFs were maxed out limiting my rpms.

Once I upgrade my MAFs and retune, everything will be great, but so far I have no complaints. I'm in hot South Carolina now and have been doing some hard highway driving; temps haven't gone above 200 on the factory Oil Temp guage. I've got a Stillen Gold Series oil cooler, Mishimoto radiator and thermostat.

Driveability has been awesome and the power increase feels great. I love the whine of the supercharger. People tend to have a "WTF"/perplexed look on their faces when I drive by....they either think something is broken or they know whats up.

I've got a 1500 mile road trip to TX tomorrow, so we'll see how it holds up while driving across 5 different states.

CG's on the new kit :tiphat:

Great banter on the site but THANK YOU for answering my question. All this on a stock motor and transmission?

Yes. only thing changed out was clutch. Mostly because i got a deal on it.

This thread died out.

Wondering if it is possible to continue with a Stillen + A2A upgrade vs a Gamma Stage 2 kit?

TopgunZ 01-19-2017 08:15 AM

Why not start a new thread?

I have a little over 3 years on my Gamma (GTM) Stage 2 kit without any issues thus far at over 500 to the tire. I'm thinking about pulling the kit here within the next couple months and changing my setup and selling it. The Rotrex charger has been really rock solid. This kit is great for a 500-540whp range (depending on the dyno). I'm looking to build the motor and shoot for more would be the only reason for sale.
