Anyway back on topic, stillen must be hard at work on this supercharger, I have not heard anything from them in awhile, I wish I knew if the G3 intakes hooked up to the S/C?

point taken...

I would love to have a forced induction system (especially since I am at 5500 ft. elevation and am already loosing over 20% from that alone) but to use Ron Popeil’s term, I would like to “set it and forget it”. I would like the highest gains that are safe for the engine. I would not like to have the lifespan of the engine reduced by any significant amount. I do not want to have to take it to a tuner after the initial setup and install and initial tune. Basically I would like the overall reliability to remain while performance was greatly improved. Is this possible? Am I expecting too much? If I wanted 375+ rwhp, should I have bought a car that came that way from the factory? I would love to hear from GTM and Stillen about these questions. Thanks for your time and attention!
John

Iill look forward to GTM and Stillen solutions and answers!!!

^ why did you quote yourself? Stop talking up space in my thread. Do you even have a 370Z anyway cus it says you drive a BMW.

I don't think you are expecting too much, That is the way it should be and that is why we offer our GTM turn key so you can "set it and forget it " as you said .

-Our GTM Turn key solution whether TT or SC does not require a retune (maf tuning )

-Our engine management solution is done via flashing the factory ecu so basically you are getting the factory driveability just with a lot more power

Plus We are working on a good platform from the start, all those things will deliver what you are looking for and more ...All you have to do is just buy the GTM kit

STILLEN to use Eaton TVS?

We're not about creating hype before a product is develop and tested.

First off, I VERY much like STILLEN's attitude of its finished when its right - the quality of the end product is missing in so many of the bolt on kits and I am glad to see STILLEN doing it right. Extremely encouraging to see you guys taking your time despite some of the competition having released their products already. Kudos (and probably a SC kit sale)!

On another thread you mentioned a possible change from the M62 to the M90 due to the new 3.7L motor but you never confirmed... I know you can't release all the details but I was wondering if you could confirm the use of a TVS style Eaton unit? I'm curious if you guys are staying with the old design or going for a real step up. If you are using a TVS, I will most def be buying a STILLEN SC kit. :eekdance:

Thanks!

I also like their attitude when it comes to releasing new products, including their S/C kit.

Now, I would certainly hope they will be using the Eaton TVS. It is a serious step forward.

agreed. the m62 and the m90 are horrible superchargers... i have the m62 on my balt and that bitch heat soaks like its cool. same for the m90 if you throw pullies on it

1slow370 09-26-2009 06:46 AM

common m62? m90? even the m90 is only used on a production car making what 265 flywheel? Would have to pulley the hell out of them to get the airflow we need and they would be just like trying to use 10 heat guns for your intake charge.

m90's are perfect for V6 engines such are ours. The m112 goes on V8 engines like the Lightning and Cobra.

Heat is held in check through intercoolers/heat exchangers..

You guys really need to stick to subjects you have experience on. Everyone knows the M62 on a 350z was not properly sized, but the m90 is a good choice.

1slow370 09-26-2009 09:51 PM

don't get me started on the m90. I do have experience with it including full custom kits and modified stock application cars. I that blower tops out at 400 without porting, and i don't think that stillen will be porting the ones it sells in the kit. Our v6 is in the flow range of larger engines and would do better with a larger blower.

Agreed.

I don't think you will see anything impressive with an M90, and even with an M112 you'll struggle to make similar power to GTM's modest TT setup. Figure the Terminator Cobra makes roughly 380 RWHP stock with an M112 at 8 PSI through a 4.6-liter DOHC 32-valve V8, and that blower on an engine pushing more air than the Z's runs out of steam approaching 500 RWHP.

I don't think any forced-induction setup on the 370Z will be worthwhile unless it will make at least 450 RWHP. Factor in the cost of parts/installation, supporting-mods, constant headache of what part will break next or tuning issues, powertrain warranty going out the door, etc...anything less, and you might as well stick with basic bolt-ons.

Wrong crowd.

My horsepower is bigger than yours!

Seriously, everyone that is waiting for the STILLEN SC kit to come out knows that the max horsepower gains are not going to be as high as a well done TT kit. Most of us don't want the headache of parts breaking, turbo timers, turbo lag in daily around town driving etc. What we do want is some more punch in our daily driver that comes in a well put together and thought out system.

I will give you guys this - from your angle, you are correct. The M62 is undersized and the M90 is questionable and does have heat problems when you start trying to push it. But if you are looking for some major gains, you should already know that this motor will do better with TTs than an SC so its a point that does not need to be brought up or argued.
*Beats the dead horse*

I've had both cars with SCs and TTs and for a daily driver, I prefer a SC. Heck I have an automatic trans (that is really damn cool btw) - OMG its a sports car crime! This is not, nor will ever be my super OMG ITS FAST LOOK AT ME! horsepower war platform and if you picked this as yours... you have already lost the game. So my friends, take your horsepower egos somewhere else and stop cluttering up this thread. :driving:

Zsteve 09-27-2009 02:28 PM

Hey all, just got a new Z, coming from the Audi TT, and I love the power but now Im wanting even more. When I had my Audi TT I just wanted under 5 secs 0 60 so thats why I went to the Z but now I want even lower but not a TT setup so I think the SC will do me great. My questions is there is no room in the engine compartment so will we have to get a new hood to accomendate (?) the SC? I really like the lines on the stock hood.

Throttle 09-27-2009 03:16 PM

Z Steve,
A roots style will probably require some type of hood modification for clearance. STILLEN will most likey be using a roots sytle similar to what they used on the 350Z. That was an Eaton M62, hopefully they are using a new Eaton TVS style R1320 or an R1900 for the 370Z.

A centrifugal style won't require any hood modification. However, due to the dual side intake, a centrifugal style requires a little more hardware than you might think. GTM has a SC kit like this for the 370Z already. You may also want to check the thread about the Vortec SC as well.
