There seems to be much debate on where to grab a manifold line for the boost gauge, does anyone see any real issue with using the BOV line, some say no, some say its ok...

Some of the parts are shipping directly from my suppliers to the customer in the U.S. The parts for your kit are shipping directly to me, so that you don't get stuck with all the duty fees us Canadians have to deal with. Your stuff should be here before the end of this week provided that nothing is stuck in customs, and then I will ship the complete kit.

I can throw an extra hose barb in each box for you guys. This way you can drill/tapp another port for the BOV. The kit comes with two drillbits and a 1/8" tapp, so it would be easy just to do another port for the gauge.

zguynate 02-12-2014 02:48 PM

Its 30, feels like 21 where I'm at. It's going to be 68 by the end of the week...

Anyway I'm at work now! I can't sign for any parts if I'm not there! Bahh!

Yeah...3*F here and it has been below 0*F last couple of weeks.

EDIT: Tial has been very slow with shipping parts out with this big order. Not sure why...maybe they are behind. All the turbos are ready to go.

zguynate 02-12-2014 02:56 PM

Well I was referring to the inter cooler and oil pump. I got the turbo, wastegates, BOV, and spark plugs already.

That would be great. I was planning to branch off the BOV line but another barb would be fantastic.

I've only received the Exa pump but in all fairness TurboWerx is only like 150 miles from my house. Ground shipping was probably a one day delivery.

jlo370z 02-12-2014 05:23 PM

Parts are shipping? whooo hooo happy dance:happydance:

All fits well. Even room to zip tie all the lines on.

What power level are you looking to run? Z1 recommended full face for me. I'm keeping torque to 400wft-lbs.

That's what I'm looking for too. Are you planning track or drag strip? What were their reasonings for needing the 6 puck?

I think Mitch has a 6 puck.

Joe at Z-speed told me to run the stage 3 street and lightened flywheel..

I stated i planned to do the chicago half mile/ maybe one HPDE, and the rest would all be street

zguynate 02-12-2014 08:28 PM

I was thinking about getting the JWT clutch/flywheel but I haven't really decided quite yet. I may give Z Speed a call when the time comes.

Power level? Is it a daily and if so how's driving the 6 puck?

See post #446 of this thread.

The Z is a summer weekend car/toy for me, so it didn't see too much action this past summer with the install.

Right now, I'm running the base tune & 7.5-8 PSI, so probably around 450-460whp. Didn't get the chance to to get it tuned before the winter as I was breakin' in the clutch. The plan is to get tuned @ RT tuning this coming spring. I plan on pushing 525-550whp on 94 octane.

I think a twin-disc clutch from OS Giken might be better for DD but for me, I chose to make zero compromises, so I went with a puck style clutch. I also went with a puck clutch because I plan on pushing much more than 550whp in the future.

jwick 02-12-2014 09:44 PM

Good information. Thanks

He's east of me. Ottawa I think.

Boosted Performance 02-12-2014 11:28 PM

From experience with a 6 puck (Clutch Master FX400) on my 350z, it is a bit harsh off the line. I don't find it bad between gears at all, but once the ceramic is warmed up, it is a bit of an on/off type clutch. It has held everything I have thrown at it though.

This is the clutch I am talking about: Clutchmasters.com - High Performance Clutch and Flywheel Systems

In general the 6 pucks will be a bit on the harsh side (depending on the material, to a degree), and if it is in the budget, a twin disc would be optimal.

For this application (370z with any turbo) I would also make sure the clutch can hold at least 550ft/tq.

Yes, I'm indeed in Ottawa. I have a bit of family in Toronto, so if I ever go down there, I'll let you know. Or if you're around Ottawa, let me know, we'll go for a rip.

You guys are too funny...but as a true car guy, I completely understand. There is nothing like buying yourself the perfect present.

zguynate 02-13-2014 12:49 PM

Haha. My wife is tired of me sending her pictures of the parts as they come in. She gives me the "You werent this excited about getting married" a lot lol.

The ladies will never understand...and what guy is REALLY "excited" about getting married.

My wife (of 12 years) sometimes buys me a present, and tells me that she has a surprise...and that I will love it. I ask here if it is for the car, and if she says no, I tell her that I might like it at best...but won't "love" it.
