The GT-R fans in the comments :nutswinger:

People don't realize, strap a turbo to the 370z and its a monster. Godzilla's lil brother can play rough when it wants to lol

I don't think you have anything to worry about. With the g37 guys coming and the 7at just about handled, I think they'll be producing them for some time.

Good to know, thanks for the reply dj.
I think I'm going to do some research on these turbos. It would be awesome to see that the compressors are billet with extended fins, although I'm not sure if that's necessary.

They are, depending on which you get. The gtx is billet, as is the upgraded hta wheel. The hta is a 68mm, 14 bladed wheel with 7 primary and 7 secondary, and is a significant upgrade.

Who had the record before FI took it back?

phunk 03-30-2015 09:01 PM

Me. I still have the trap speed and stock engine power record .. so I am not too sad about getting knocked off by an autopilot :)

But next time they will go a lot quicker/faster, so I have to get back out there soon.

The hta does have a lot of positive feedback on the internet. Are the other aspects of the turbo, i.e. cooling, essentially the same? I do like the way the turbine is connected to the manifold on these kits with a circular connection rather than the common rectangle. I think that's grade A ingenuity that will most likely catch on in the performance culture.

Havent driven it since the clutch let go at the drag strip. Been using it for building some new parts on. But I should be putting it back together in the next month or two I believe, so its time to start clutch shopping.

2SOONJR 03-30-2015 09:15 PM

Definitely! How long did you have it TT'd before the clutch let go at the strip? Got an idea about how many runs?

I'm gonna guess from the date on the video you had about 45k and almost 4 years with kit installed?

The car was turbocharged for well over 3 years, and maybe around 45,000 miles or so. It had 61,000 miles on it at the track. The clutch was installed at the same time.

The clutch lasted about 6-7 runs I believe, but I only began to really slip it and start to get the 60' down the last few passes. Those clutches are not meant for drag racing (heavy slipping), so it was no surprise. It had been used for a couple passes at the track the year before, but it was on street tires and didnt have any grip to warrant hard use of the clutch.

Oh yeah aren't you the power shifter that was gonna make some transmission and diff supports? That's pretty good for a street clutch plus all those miles, really gives a positive outlook for 370 owners. It was a OS giken right?

OSG Twin, correct. Yes I powershifted it on the regular, pretty much any time I was full throttle. If you shift quickly, thats not really bad for the clutch so long as its not slipping. I dont think it needs any trans supports, but the differential you will want to upgrade the mounts and I think F.I. will recommend the same thing.
