That would mean the wheel is 16", i've been told that the smallest wheel you can put on the rear is a 18" so that it clears the caliper. Can the FI team confirm please?

SS_Firehawk 02-19-2013 05:41 PM

Base brakes, not SP ones.

Correct-o-mundo! A 16" rim will clear the "Base" brakes. If you are running the Sport brakes the smallest you are going to run is an 18" rim. A Street/Drag Radial in 18" is pretty much worthless at this power level. Regardless of how soft the compound is there is not enough sidewall to create a wrinkle/flex and grab traction.

On our 1,000+ HP Mustangs we run a 15" rim in the rear with a 28"x10.5" slick.

Hope this clears it up for those who are asking.

Tony

Edit - noticed the test car has base brakes

Right lol. I was talking about the width of the wheel and offsets.

Osiris 02-19-2013 07:02 PM

Don't care about offsets. Just interested in the 16" drag tire/wheel combo.

djtodd 02-19-2013 10:00 PM

Just waiting for someone to pull the rear brakes now and fit 15" steelies or some such :P

Update coming shortly as soon as I get home. Done for tonight. Car made great numbers.

Update,

Called the night early rain is coming down hard and its cold. The fuel pressure is still dropping but stabilizing around 42 psi at the top of the run. Definitely not ideal but we are working in the right direction. We were able to clean the air/fuel up somewhat from last time and get the car to take more timing. Final results for tonight:

546 RWH / 457 RWT backed up by 540/454 and a handful of runs slightly below that.

91 Octane (Pump)
10.03 PSI
Full open FI 2.5" exhaust

Below is a dyno chart from tonight with the best run from February 7th attached to it as well. That run is Run #7. As you can see there is a substantial gain tonight over the run from 2/7. By getting the fuel pressure to stabilize up top it is allowing us to add about 4-5 additional degrees of timing with absolutely zero detonation. Our tuner Sebastian@SpecialtyZ wears a set of special head phones that are directly plugged into the ECU. He can detect the slightest bit of detonation when it occurs. The timing is still fairly conservative at 18 degrees on 91 Octane. In addition now that we have the electronic boost controller wired in it is giving us full adjustability to regulate boost and wastegate spring pressure. This is helping the torque out quite a bit.

It is a safe bet to say we are pretty much finished on the 2.5" exhaust system. First thing tomorrow morning we are going to play with a few things in the fuel system. Basically try to get the fuel pressure to stabilize at a higher psi. We will also switch over to the full open 3" FI exhaust.

Stay tuned...

In the interim, from the FB page:

Very impressive guys! :tiphat:

:happydance: I know im beating a dead horse here.. but once again, blown away.

Here is a video from tonight. On this run the car made:

540 RWH / 454 RWT on 9.77 PSI peak...

More auto porn please:excited:

Sh0velMan 02-20-2013 08:06 AM

Cannot get over how flat the torque is and how early you have 300+ torque... Unbelievable.

Do want.

SgtGoldy 02-20-2013 08:15 AM

Jesus... I already said it once.... and Ill say it again. Im your test fit G

wheee! 02-20-2013 08:26 AM

+1 on Sebastian tuning this beast! Nothing beats a pro tune....

TerribleONE 02-20-2013 10:23 AM

We are back at the dyno working away now!

SS_Firehawk 02-20-2013 10:38 AM

Pretty F'n awesome.
Looking back, this is building more power at 2000-2500 than NA cars, there is no spike in boost, it just ramps up progressively. The tuning is on point. Happy to see dyno's of turbo cars that start at 2k instead of 3000-3500, doesn't sound like a big deal, but the first couple thousand rpm is where we start every time we take off from a stop. Ever drive a 4 banger with a big turbo? It would be out run by a minivan until it starts building boost... 5000rpm later. Can't wait to see what it does on 3"

I will pass on your kind words to Sebastian @ Specialty Z. I also was beyond pleased to see how fast we are able to build boost, even with a SAFE tune. We are working on drilling out the FPR (fuel pressure regulator) right now, once we have this 100% buttoned down (we are moving in the right direction) we will switch to the 3" turbo back exhaust We should have 3" #s sometime today. And I know exactly what you mean with the 4bangers. Having driven many modified Evo/STI's and I felt like I spent more time waiting for the turbo to spool then being in boost.

G37sHKS 02-20-2013 12:04 PM

Nice numbers,
Sorry if I missed this but what is the diameter of test pipe and exhaust that was installed on the car in that dyno video/chart

SS_Firehawk 02-20-2013 12:12 PM

2.5", they are supposedly testing 3" today

gbrettin 02-20-2013 01:42 PM

So.... what you are saying is that there will be higher RWHP numbers than 540 :)

Very awesome kit!

elperuano 02-20-2013 02:02 PM

Nice to see the turbo kit won't be the limiting factor :)

This is another kit I'd love to see with a built motor!

F.I. Inc. 02-20-2013 03:52 PM

Update,

Done with the dyno for this week. I will post a summary either tonight or tomorrow as to how and why we came to the results that we did and why we still have not dynoed the car with the 3" exhaust. Final numbers from today:

576 RWH / 484 RWT
10.20 psi "peak"
VP 100 octane (pump@ local gas station)
22 degrees of timing
2.5" F.I. exhaust straight test pipe non res X Pipe

Thank you, Tony

GaleForce 02-20-2013 03:54 PM

Wow!

elperuano 02-20-2013 04:10 PM

Ohhhh. Thought that number was on pump gas! Lol not bad for 100 octane.

That's farther than I'd dare push a stock block. CG's on the results :)

The dyno chart from last night was on 91 octane (pump).

m3chhawk 02-20-2013 04:36 PM

Just out of curiosity, where does the 550 number for a stock block come from? Is it top end failure, bottom end, detonation, etc...?

Was this one guys experience and now we all use 550?
