Twin Turbo 370z vs GTR

I don't know if this question has been asked before but how would a twin turbo 370z stand up against the GTR ?

FairladyZ 10-22-2012 09:31 AM

GTR will probably still rape it

Mitco39 10-22-2012 09:37 AM

Depends, off the line you dont stand a chance since the GTR is AWD.

For arguments sake though
TT 370Z
HP: ~500 RWHP
Weight ~3500 lbs

GTR
HP: ~ 520-540 AWHP
Weight ~3800 lbs

So it would be close at a roll, but the GTR would get you on every shift.

But thats just the numbers.

Depends on the build really. From all of the videos ive seen on youtube the TT kits seem to boost at like 5k rpms if you had a setup that could make bigger power earlier it would be better. You would need atleast 600+whp to take on a modded gtr though.

Can anyone confirm when our TT kits make full boost?

All depends on the mods of the GT-R and what year. If its a 09-11 stock GT-R from a roll the Z will win. If the GT-R is modded with at least a midpipe and tune the GT-R will win.

If you want a GT-R, buy a GT-R. Don't expect to match GT-R performance by buying a less expensive vehicle + mods, unless you're ready to spend more money than what the GT-R would have originally cost you.

Cost wise, after my TT install, I'll be getting there--but it's about the unique-factor. Sure, I'd like to beat a GT-R with a Z, but it's still a Z, and a GT-R is still a GT-R.

They don't call it Godzilla for no reason...

I think with a 500whp+ setup and a good driver you can get a GTR from a roll.. I should know personally pretty soon here :driving:

from a dig... well... just don't lol

:shakes head:

I feel is someone from a GTR forum saw this thread he'd feel like we feel when someone on a Honda civic forum posts about beating a 370z.

While you could do it, its a pointless discussion and price wise a TT z will run 20k (less if you consider your free time having no value). Which almost puts you in the price range of an out of warranty GTR which is what your Z will be if you TT it.

not even close

stock GT-R's put out anywhere from 380-440whp depending on the year

their biggest advantage is the transmission, they shift ungodly fast. It doesn't take much to make a stock turbo GT-R in the 550-580whp range with just bolt ons and retune.. haha

Your numbers are slightly off. A 370z weighs roughly 3,232 pounds according to online sources. Even if they weigh in at 3300lbs thats still 200lbs lighter than 3500. The weight on the GTR is correct but how are you getting 520-540awhp if thats what they are crank? Also, there are two different GTR's as everyone knows. The older GTR's with 465hp wouldnt stand a chance against a 500rwhp 370z on a roll. Thats almost 100whp more and give or take 500lbs lighter. A newer GTR will be a much better race but i strongly believe that a TT 370z putting out 500rwhp + can take a stock GTR from a roll. Simple mods to a GTR will blow the Z out of the water though.

Call me crazy but i would still prefer a built/turbo 370z over a GTR any day. In my opinion i think its more of a driver's car. I honestly couldn't afford out of warrantly maintenance, and insurance for one either. Don't get me wrong, GTR's are amazing cars, but they just arn't for me.
