GTM VQ45HR Build?
Hi guys!
I found these pictures while looking around the forum: http://www.the370z.com/members/sam-g...30238-copy.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/sam-g...206213copy.jpg The album says GTM VQ45HR build. My search takes me to a build thread that has long been locked and I couldn't find much info about what happened to the car. Was the car ever finished? Has anyone else done a 4.5L motor? (FI or NA) Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! |
Anybody have other pics of the car?
|
I think that's the "White Dragon", the car has been in development for years now it seems, at one point GTM posted a dyno graph showing just about 1,000 HP but there was never any end result shown. Of course my memory of it all is a bit fuzzy as I really didn't follow it very closely so it's quite possible that I have remembered it incorrectly.

GTM is still working on it, the car was away from GTM for awhile as it was having a Zele kit put on & modified. Last I read was they were working on doing a GT-R intake manifold conversion to the 370z. |
That exhaust o.O

Hey guys!
Just got back into the country last night... (Honeymoon with the wife) Yes the car has met the original goal set out for it. (break 1000rwhp) it did so on the stock ECU. GTM made a lot of progress with the stock ECU because of testing with this project... If you have any questions please feel free to ask! *note- I do not have any dyno sheets so please dont ask... There is a youtube video of the car making over 800+rwhp (1080+bhp) on the dyno on pump gas during new MAF testing. Boost was about 22psi I think... not totally sure. We have gone much higher than that and surpassed those numbers back early last year. We stopped pushing the HP just over the 1000rwhp last year because of the stock intake manifold. The car is getting the GTR intake manifold put back on and should hopefully be delivered home soon. |
this is what a 4.5L VQ sounds like:
*Note- Revs were capped at about ~4k rpm. |

what's the deal with those wheels? are they like 15" wide or is that just a funny camera angle? If really wide, then is that a wide body kit?

Deep dishes on those wheels, like a damn plate!

Also yes this is a widebody kit. 6" wider in the rear and 2" in the front.

800 RWHP is hard enough to handle in a street driven car. 1,000 RWHP is even worse. Good luck getting it all to hook up in a RWD car. :ugh2: What really interested me about this project was the 4.5L block. I would love to see what kind of power and torque this would make in a NA application. |

The 4.5L block is good but will most likely transfer more heat. We noticed a lot more heat with the 4.5L and had to upgrade every aspect of the cooling system. I would be more inclined to go with the 4.2L if I was to go NA. However, with either one you are going to be looking at over 400rwhp with the proper setup NA. Mike  |

Thanks in advance. |

I would go with a 12+ Compression ratio ;) but that would require a higher blend of gas or a really good tune! |

There are step lips 8 inch and above, just harder to find and you have to wait longer for them. http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i243/camrazy/991.jpg Carry on... |

How about we stop deleting thread about this car and just sticky it!
Crazy! 3 years later folks ask what's done to it Smh |

What's trolling about that comment? Serious suggestion your car is very talked about and info on the car is split up over several threads!
One good build thread specs/pics/video |
This car builds anticipation like the Spruce Goose.

The wheels and the exhaust are my favorite parts of this car.
I agree on the power comment above. 1000+ on this platform is a notable achievement that would not come easy the first time around... especially on the stock ECU. However, its unusable... traction control or not! Only specifically configured for straight line racing could a 370z begin to use 1000rwhp in the upper gears. Which is fine and expected... typical of most IRS RWD cars. Its a cool project. Its got everything. All it needs now is an AWD conversion and then im out of ideas! |

Post pics of your step lips with measuring tape or it never happened. They look like 6.5....maybe. I would be proud to post pics if 7 inch. So lets see em. Also check out the link I posted as COR is manufacturer of Strasse. The wheels completely failed but its a toss up why the failed. Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2 |
You crack me up! They are 7" which is the largest 20" step lip manufacted that I have been able to find. Please post up a manufacturer of a larger 20" step lip... I would like to see that!
